About Bass Coast Health We’re a rapidly expanding health service that is growing to meet the region’s health needs, now and into the future. BCH provides a range of surgical, medical, obstetrics, oncology, allied health, rehabilitation and community-based services across three sites: Wonthaggi Hospital (the local sub-regional hospital), San Remo site and Phillip Island Health Hub. BCH expands – a new cancer centre and hospital Graduate Nurses joining BCH in 2021 and 2022 will see the multi-million dollar Cancer Care Centre, which is due to open early next year at Wonthaggi Hospital. The construction of the $115m Wonthaggi Hospital expansion will also be underway. Stage one will include 18 extra emergency treatment spaces, three operating theatres, and a 32-bed surgical and paediatric inpatient ward. The ideal start to your nursing career Your Graduation Program at Bass Coast Health will give you the opportunity to take part in two, six month rotations across a variety of streams at BCH’S Wonthaggi and San Remo sites. Expand your skills and knowledge The Graduate Nurse Program provides a supportive environment. Through practice and education, the program helps graduates become confident and competent clinicians. Opportunities at BCH beyond your Graduation Year BCH offers pathways for a nursing career across three years: Graduate Program (first year), Transition Year (second year) and the Transition to Speciality Practice Year (third year and beyond, when speciality post graduate study is encouraged). These programs provide career growth and development to encourage retention of nurses beyond the Graduate Program, and will assist with increased service delivery and future workforce needs associated with the Wonthaggi Hospital expansion. Recruitment and selection process RECAP! All prospective graduate nurses wanting a graduate nurse position at BCH are required to apply through the Allocations and Placement Service Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV). At BCH we abide the rules of PMCV and expect our prospective graduates to follow the same process. Further details for PMCV can be found on below website http://allocations.pmcv.com.au/ It is important to note, that prospective graduates must also apply directly to each of the individual hospitals they have nominated.
