Warwick Independent Schools Foundation comprises two schools: King’s High with Warwick Preparatory School, and Warwick School. The Foundation is unique in the Midlands, offering co-education for our pupils aged 3 to 7, and single-sex education from age 7 onwards. The Role King’s High and Warwick Prep has an excellent reputation as a leading sporting institute for girls from 3 -18 in the local and regional area. The Graduate PE Assistant role would involve working full time in the Senior school and, where needed, the Prep school. The successful candidate would be expected to be heavily involved in the extra-curricular provision both during the week and at weekend fixtures. In addition, the role would involve day to day administrative tasks, equipment maintenance and assisting the PE department in the delivery of curriculum PE lessons where necessary. The Department The sports departments of both King's High and Warwick Preparatory are united under the leadership of the Director of Sport Mrs. Sarah Parkinson- Mills. Outstanding Facilities The recently opened Sports Centre has been built onto the existing Bridge Sports Hall and now also includes: a fully-equipped Fitness Suite with cardiovascular equipment, free weights and plyometric boxes; a new sprung floor gymnasium for gymnastics and trampolining, amongst other activities; multiple changing rooms with showers. We also have eight netball/tennis courts, two Astro Turf pitches and access to the other sports facilities on the Foundation campus, including the swimming pool, 3G pitch and climbing wall at Warwick Sports Centre. Staffing Sports staff include the following: Director of Sport (3-18), Director of Sport (Prep), Assistant Director of Sport, Head of Academic PE (King’s), Head of Netball, Head of Hockey, Head of Tennis, Head of Swimming, Head of Tennis, 2 additional members of teacher staff, two graduate sports assistants and a Sports Administrator. There is also a team of 12 additional coaches to provide the girls and boys (pre-prep), with the very best sporting 3 education.
Extra-Curricular Program Alongside our major sports at Warwick Preparatory School and King’s High of Netball, Hockey, Football (Prep), Tennis, Cricket, Swimming, Waterpolo and Gymnastics our pupils are given the opportunity to enjoy a broad sporting experience through their PE, games lessons and extra-curricular provision. Additional activities include, but are not exclusive to, Health and fitness, Dance, Ball skills, Badminton, Basketball, Trampolining, Tag rugby, Yoga, Pilates, Ballet, Hiphop. Golf, Climbing, Fencing, Martial Arts, and UNITE. In our team sports, we have had many successes over recent years and some fantastic achievements at County, Regional and even National level. Our Clay Pigeon Shooting team have been National Champions 2015 - 2018 and finished as runners-up in 2019. Our teams have been crowned County Champions in Netball, Hockey and Athletics across different year groups and have also competed at a Regional level. Since 2017, our Netball teams have been County Champions eleven times and our Hockey teams nine times. The water polo teams have qualified for the National Finals for the last three years, with the U15 team bringing home bronze medals last year. Our swimmers regularly compete at IAPS competitions and have competed in the ESSA National Finals for seven consecutive years. We also have a track record of outstanding success at the highest levels with girls individually winning county and national championships and titles across multiple disciplines, from Rounders to Tennis, from Fencing to Cheerleading. King’s High is proud to support our elite level performers through the Talented Athlete Program. Providing support and guidance to girls aspiring and performing at the highest level in their chosen sporting discipline.
Job Description The main roles of the post are as follows: • Be able to offer coaching in all of the major winter and summer sports (Netball, Hockey, Athletics, Tennis and Swimming). It is expected that the successful candidate will have a specialism in one of these sports. • Articulate instructions with confidence, clarity and passion to pupils from 3-18. • Take a lead role running extra-curricular teams including the admin and coaching of training sessions. • Manage teams at fixtures during the week and at weekends. • Assist the Director or Sport in the running of the department and Games Program at both King’s High and Warwick Prep. • Maintain the equipment for the P.E and Games programmes. • Assist the P.E department in the staffing of the fitness suite where necessary. • Play a full role within the working school day to include assisting in P.E lessons when required. • Work with key staff in the development of the sporting provision from 3-18 and KHS and WP. • Assist the Director of sport in producing appropriate promotional literature for sport at KHS and WP. • Support the wider work of the Sports Department, as appropriate. • Work collaboratively with the wider staff body at KHS and WP.
