Family of St. Gerald Page 2 May 23, 2021 Dear Friends, There are quite a few things I would like to write about in my article this time, so this one might be a little longer then the previous ones, but I hope you can read it to the end. First I would like to express my thank you to the two great and holy men who will be leaving us this summer. Thank you Fr. Michael Flynn and Mr. Leo McGinnis for your assistance, wisdom, advice, great example and kindness. Thank you both for your professionalism and service to St. Gerald parish for many years. I personally feel very blessed that I was able to meet you on my path and was able to work with you this last year. Over the years you both have enriched the Parish with your many talents, words of wisdom, great advices and leadership in faith. I wish you both could stay with us much longer. As you move on, and open brand new chapters of your lives, we all wish you a lot of happines, health, prosperity and love. May God bless you both and always protect you on your paths. Thank you Fr. Michael Flynn and Mr. Leo McGinnis! I also would like to say thank you to all who have helped us to buy and install the new big screen TVs in the church building. The list of Donors is long and my gratitude is tremendous. Thank you for the generous financial gifts to - Holy Name Society, Women's Club, Mother's Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Scouts, thank you to the anonymous Donors. Also very special thanks to our technology team who has been very helpful to me and to the Parish - Annamarie and Michael Blaha, Matt Jones, Matt Zenner, Terry Finn, Dave McFee, Ed Wolf, Mike Murray, Mike Daly, Don Wesselhoff, Mike Galka and Fred Mendoza. Thank you all for your donations, help and support! These TV's will serve in many different ways. And they are not just TVs - they are an investment. We live in XXI century and we need to be able to use technology in evangelization. I know the screens we have installed are already helping many who visit us on the weekends to be more involved during Mass. But those screens will play a multi-purpose role in evangelization here at St. Gerald. The technology is also great because as we know the younger generation is more visual and more attentive when they both hear and see. July 1st is the day when we usually introduce some changes to the Parish. There will be some changes in our schedules and those changes are inspired by my desire to make things a little easier on our volunteers to whom I am very grateful for their faithful service to God and his people here at St. Gerald. We will also have a new Associate Pastor whose name I don't know yet and I am as anxious as you are to learn who he is.
Family of St. Gerald Page 3 May 23, 2021 In this last part of my article I would like to focus on things that we need to work on and improve, but before I move on with it, let me just say how proud I am of all the things that St. Gerald Parishioners were able to acomplish over the last few years. Some big projects like roofs, gym building or remodeling the front of the church are such great accomplishments. Great job everyone! And so finally let me mention a few things that we will need to fix. One of them is the parking lot which was damaged by this last, quite severe winter. We also have to work on the celling in the Arnold Hall. At some point we will have to change windows in the school and in the rectory. The rectory itself needs a lot of repairs. Not much was done over there for many decades. We need to get rid of the old carpets, fix some walls and update the bathrooms. I am attaching some pictures to my article of the things that need repair. I am grateful to the Holy Name Society gentlemen, especially Tim, Alex and Don, who contacted me on behalf of the Holy Name, offering helping hands. Thank you! But I know that to make the necessary changes possible, the parish will need the support from all of us and I am quite sure that we can all come together and help St. Gerald to move forward and make some necessary repairs. So I kindly ask you to consider donating to a special second collection for buildings and maintenance which will be taken once a month, to help us to do some necessary repairs around the campus. I am very grateful to all of you for your understanding and support. Dear Friends, you are always in my prayers! May the Holy Spirit guide and protect you on all your paths! And I hope you will find some time this summer season to enjoy the weather, to pray and rest a little. May God bless you! Fr. Robert

Family of St. Gerald Page 6 May 23, 2021 IMPORTANT NOTICE ON USE OF ST GERALD FACILITIES The parish and school are truly grateful for all who work so hard to make St. Gerald a great place to be. Your generosity and commitment are second to none and we gladly want to make our facilities available and see them used to the benefit of everyone. In these difficult times we wish to accommodate people’s and organizations’ requests but must do so wisely and fairly with safety our primary focus. Therefore, as a reminder, any individual and/or parish organization wishing to use any and all parish and school facilities including the gym must notify the parish office for permission and to see if the facility being requested is available. It is imperative that the parish office be aware of who is where and when. It is critically important in this time of pandemic that we monitor the use of all facilities so as to keep everyone safe and healthy. Liability and insurance guidelines demand that we know who is on our property at all times in the event of an accident or unforeseen problem. Until the pandemic is behind us we must adhere to all the safety protocols issued by the archdiocese. We ask your patience and compliance. Ignoring those guidelines jeopardizes our moving forward and puts everyone at risk. We want to be accommodating to all concerned but we must follow the rules of use for parish facilities as set by the archdiocese. Again if you want to use the facilities you must first contact the parish office for permission, availability and instructions. There are no exceptions. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
