Early Help supports families with children and young people aged 0 to 19 and up to 25 with a disability. MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING Taking care of your mind as well as your body is really important while staying at home because of coronavirus (COVID-19). You may feel bored, frustrated or lonely. You may also be low, worried or anxious, or concerned about your finances, your health or those close to you. It's important to remember that it is OK to feel this way and that everyone reacts differently. Remember, this situation is temporary and, for most of us, these difficult feelings will pass. Staying at home may be difficult, but you are helping to protect yourself and others by doing it. For more information or support around children’s mental health and wellbeing, please visit: https://youngminds.org.uk/ or contact the parents help line on 0808 802 5544 15

Vaccinations in Waltham Forest Covid-19 vaccinations: Along with testing, taking the Covid-19 vaccination is one of the most important things we can do to help stop the spread of the virus and move out of the pandemic. With the current high levels of COVID, and the removal of most public health restrictions, it is more likely than not that anyone not vaccinated will catch it in the next few months. COVID vaccines both reduce your chance of catching it, and massively reduce your chance of having serious illness and needing hospital treatment. You can book your vaccination in your local area, by scanning the below QR code or by calling 0208 496 3000. By taking your first and second dose of the vaccine when you can, you will get maximum protection against this virus, and will also make you less likely to pass it on to vulnerable loved ones. You do not need to be registered with a GP to book your vaccine and do not need to bring ID with you. For more information on the vaccine please visit www.walthamforest.gov.uk/covidvaccine 27
Children with a Special Educational Need or Disability: Many parents and carers will have concerns about the Coronavirus outbreak, particularly anyone who has a child with additional health needs. Below are some key sources of information and additional things that you may want to think about. Schools are still contactable and if you are worried about anything you should email you school or SEND@walthamforest.gov.uk to ask for specific support and advice for your child. For Local Offer Information click https://www.walthamforest.gov.uk/content/about-local-offer Parent Forum click https://www.walthamforest.gov.uk/content/waltham-forest- parent-forum Talking to your child about coronavirus: If you want to talk to your child about Coronavirus and its impact, you might find it helpful to use a child-friendly guide like this one from Mindheart that is available in a variety of languages including Turkish, Romanian, French and Polish. There is also an easy-read guide from Mencap and What's Up with this Coronavirus? is another useful child-friendly explanation in graphic format. There is also an easy-read guide on social distancing from the Down Syndrome Association. You can get advice from the National Autistic society guidance and helpline for parents, young people and staff. 28

Step 4 of Lockdown in Waltham Forest: On 19 July, the country moved to step 4 of the roadmap out of lockdown. However, alongside the vaccination programme, testing for Covid-19 remains important. One in 3 people who have Covid-19 do not show any symptoms and can spread the virus without knowing it. By testing regularly, we can find out early who might have the virus and stop it from spreading into the community. You should test twice a week even if you feel well or have been vaccinated. In Waltham Forest, test sites are open every day at various locations across the borough to make it easy for residents to get tested. See below for the opening days and times, all tests are free and you don’t need to make an appointment. Getting tested is quick, easy, and safe. Make sure to get the right test which depends on whether you have Covid-19 symptoms or not. If you have symptoms, you will need to go to one of our local test sites which offer a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests. Many people get their result the next day, but it may take up to 3 days because they are processed in a laboratory. It’s important that you get a PCR test if you have symptoms, no matter how mild. If you don’t have symptoms, please go to any of our community test sites. These sites offer a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) which allows people who have no symptoms to know if they have the virus. It's a rapid test, and you can get a result on the same day. You can also collect a free rapid test kits with our Community Collect service or order home test kits online . Open everyday from 8am to 8pm: 36
