GLENWOOD WEEKLY NEWS MAY 8, 2020 Glenwood WEEKLY NEWS CELEBRATING VIRTUAL GRANDPARENT’S DAY CE AT A SOCIAL DISTANCE FROM THE PRINCIPAL It is important we continue to celebrate… and this week is no exception! One of the special days during the school year is Grandparent / Special Friend’s Day. I am pleased to see so many students were still able to spend time with grandparents – many of them from a safe distance! This week we also recognized Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to the PTG and our families for your generosity - - you continued to make this week special for our teachers! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend… and a Happy Mother’s Day!!! Thank you for your continued support and remember, we are all in this together. Please let us know if we can assist you and your students in any way. We appreciate everyone’s patience, input and feedback. Please take care, and stay safe! Feel free to contact me at 610-627-6901 or ebucci@rtmsd.org if you have any questions or concerns. - Eric F. HELPING FAMILIES IN NEED 2020 Dear RTMSD Families, We are tremendously grateful for the outpouring of support, financial and otherwise, we have received from our school district community when Circle of Giving 2020, originally named Helping Families in Need 2020, began just six weeks ago. With your support, we have been able to provide 71 district families with $300 grocery gift cards, and then deliver weekly, full meals, $100 Acme gift cards, and two masks to 10 RTMSD families on a rotating basis. Unfortunately, the global pandemic will continue to impact our district families. Circle of Giving 2020 will continue to facilitate weekly deliveries to RTMSD families as long as we have the funds available to do so. Today, we are announcing an RTMSD family only raffle to benefit our RTMSD community members who are in need. Raffle 1: 30 rolls of Costco toilet paper, a Philadelphia Eagles face mask, and a can of Lysol. Raffle 2: 12 rolls of paper towels, a box of Costco extra large baby wipes, a Philadelphia Eagles face mask and a can of Lysol. Raffle tickets are $5.00 per chance and the deadline for entries is Sunday, May 10th, 8:00 pm EDT. Two winners will be drawn on Sunday evening after 8 pm and the prize will be delivered to the winners on Monday. To Purchase a a Raffle: Venmo us at @circleofgiving. In the Venmo comment section, please let us know your first and last name, how many raffle chances you would like to purchase and the best way to contact you. GLENWOOD WEEKLY NEWS MAY 8, 2020 Dear Glenwood Families, The Student Ambassadors will be sponsoring a FOOD DRIVE to support the Media Food Bank during the entire month of May. If you are looking for a way for your family to help a family in need, please consider donating to this endeavor. The Media Food Bank is currently open every day from 12:00-2:00 for drop off. Since we are still practicing social distancing, we are asking families to drop the food off directly to the food bank, which is located behind the First United Methodist Church in Media. The address is: 350 W. State St. Media, PA 19063 If you are not comfortable shopping and leaving your house, but would like to help, you can mail a donation directly to the food bank. Please write Glenwood Food Drive in the Memo. We also think it would be nice to have the students make cards or letters of support or encouragement to the families in need, or the volunteers at the food bank. If your child makes a card or letter, please put it in the bag of food you drop off. This is also a great opportunity for a family outing (stay in the car) to see where all their donations go. Some items the food bank currently needs: • Canned soup preferably with pop tops • Coffee, tea • Chicken broth • Rice (any kind but, preferably microwaveable) • Canned fish (tuna, sardines, canned salmon) • Baby item (diapers, wipes) • Paper products (toilet paper, paper towels) • Kid snacks and cereal • Baking supplies Thank you for your continued support. As always, Glenwood is always helping Glenwood. If you find that your family is in a financial crisis at this uncertain time please reach out to Miss McLean at mmclean@rtmsd.org for assistance. Gratefully yours, The Student Ambassadors
