GENERAL REGULATIONS Gradings will be awarded to performers in competitive classes as follows: 90+ Outstanding ‘An exceptional performance, both technically and artistically’ 87-89 Distinction ‘An excellent performance technically and artistically’ 84-86 Commended ‘A convincing performance technically and artistically’ 81-83 Merit ‘A capable performance showing some artistic appreciation and/or technical ability’ 78-80 Moderate ‘A performance showing development of technique and/or communication 75-77 Fair ‘A performance limited in its communication’ Adjudication - The Adjudicator may stop any performance when his/her judgement has been formed. His/her decision, in all cases, shall be final. Neither performers nor members of the audience may communicate with the Adjudicator. Performers should present themselves at the Festival venue not less than 15 minutes before the time indicated in the Festival Programme, except at the beginning of each session when they should be present not less than 10 minutes before commencement. Please note that times given are only approximations. In Choral Classes conductors may not sing with their choirs. Silence must be maintained during the competitions and there will be no exit or entrance to the Halls during classes or adjudications. Classes - Each class is referred to in the same way as in the Syllabus. All entrants (registered at the time of printing) are listed for each class progressing from the lower to the higher grades. Entrants - Each entrant’s name is given along with the item for performance. Please 5
inform us of any errors so that certificates can be printed correctly. Times - Times are given for the start of each session. Interval times are given as guidance only. Trophies - Trophies will be awarded to performers gaining Commended or above. Trophies will be presented at the Festival Concert on Saturday 16 March at The Cinema, Newton Stewart, except for school classes. Trophies are listed alongside the main class name. Where more than one trophy is awarded for performers in a class, the relevant grades are listed with each trophy.
