COURSE OUTLINE: The global pandemic changed the face of work and society rapidly and permanently. It drove a substantial step forward and created new risks for all workplaces across safety, flexible work, mental health and work-life balance. A year on from the onset of the pandemic, we take a case study-based approach to investigating what went wrong for workplaces, what went right and the learnings that all organisations must take on to reach the new gold standard of workplace health, safety and wellbeing. COURSE OUTLINE: Workplace Health and Safety is rapidly evolving, with greater expectations being placed on employer’s every day. Similarly, the breadth of workplace safety is also evolving, expanding well beyond physical task and the environment to include psychological safety and in many instances the home as an aspect of the working environment. This has led to a range of new philosophies in workplace health and safety, perhaps you have heard of Safety Two or Human Organisational Capability as the new vogue. COURSE OUTLINE: Poor mental health costs Australian businesses over $10.9 billion each year^ and the World Health Organisation predicts that depression will be the greatest public health burden by 2030. Pleasingly, Price Waterhouse Coopers found that workplaces who take a proactive and preventative approach are best able to minimise the potential challenges and costs associated with the poor mental health culture, practices and injuries; they further report that every dollar spent on proactively addressing mental health in the workplace has been shown to equate to a direct return on investment of 230%. Businesses that build meaningful health and wellbeing strategies which empower their leaders and team members to take responsibility and accountability in working towards a common wellbeing aim, significantly increase productivity, enhance workplace culture, and minimise the risk of workplace injuries and the associated costs. COURSE OUTLINE: The Return to Work Refresher is a quick, convenient way to brush up on your knowledge of the return to work processes, requirements, and best practices. Touching on key topics covered in our more comprehensive RTW Coordinator training module, this refresher module has been “designed to remind”. The session also offers an opportunity to raise some of the more complex return to work queries that might have arisen in the course of your role as a Return to Work Coordinator. COURSE OUTLINE: This course has been created to provide you with the basics of workers compensation and the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013. The training will provide you with an understanding of what to do when an employee injures themselves at work and the general claims process. Topics include: • Claim forms and claims lodgment • Certificates of Capacity • Liability • Pre-Injury Average Weekly Earnings calculations • Claim timeframes and roles Who is this course for? COURSE OUTLINE: This two-day training package has been developed by WorkSafe Victoria in consultation with key stakeholders and carries their endorsement. Completion of this course will enable participants to: • Relate the importance of Return to Work to Occupational Health and Safety • Understand and fulfil the key responsibilities of the Return to Work Coordinator’s role • Create and complete Return to Work Arrangements. COURSE OUTLINE: This course is designed to assist managers and supervisors to understand their responsibilities in the return to work process. Many times, the Return to Work Coordinator is managing the claim however the direct manager can have a major influence on an early return to work. COURSE OUTLINE: The Mental Health First Aid accredited course provides an evidence based and internationally recognised workplace mental health curriculum and substantial supporting resources. The course includes education regarding how to offer initial support to individuals who are; developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. COURSE OUTLINE: The Refresher course allows people who have previously completed the 12 hr. Mental Health First Aid training to refresh and update their knowledge and skills. For those who are Accredited MHFAiders, the refresher courses offer an opportunity to extend their accreditation for a further 3 years. COURSE OUTLINE: This course is designed to provide you with an overview of the eligibility process and provide you with an understanding of how we manage a claim upon receipt. This session will take you through the eligibility process, this will include: • Submitting a claim • Agents initial review • Investigations and additional evidence • Reviewing the claim • Grounds for rejection • Appeals/reviews Following this session, you will understand how we manage a claim and determine the appropriate Workers Compensation entitlements. COURSE OUTLINE: Despite major advances in workplace health and safety over recent years, manual handling injuries remain the most common and at times the most significant cause of workers’ compensation claims. Led by work health and safety experts, we will explore key issues related to manual handling injury, techniques in assessing your injury data to understand the sources of manual handling risk and how to design and implement risk management strategies including the use of emerging technology. Join us to gain an understanding of how to identify and manage hazardous manual tasks in your workplace. Our session will help you to understand your legislative requirements, outline a best practice approach to meet compliance and address identified risks. We will also introduce applying emerging manual handling technology (wearable sensors AND exoskeletons) and provide you with useful resources and tools to consider these technologies for your workplace.
