INTRODUCTION: Futbol Foundation of Santa Clarita (“FFSC”) is in its seventh season in youth soccer. One key ingredient for success is clear, consistent communication between FFSC, the Teams, Coaches, Players, and Parents. This agreement provides, in detail, FFSC’s expectations of you as a Player and Parent for FFSC. This agreement should help identify some potential problem areas, how they are to be handled and, at the same time, answer questions about FFSC’s decision-making process. As you have committed to become a participant with FFSC, please take the time to read the following pages carefully. This document outlines FFSC’s philosophy in making FFSC a home for your children to flourish, surpass their best and fulfill their dreams in soccer. THE BOARD, THE CLUB, THE TEAM: The Board of Directors (“BOD”) conducts all business for the Club. FFSC will focus on the following primary objectives: • Provide all players with multiple opportunities for tactical, technical and physical soccer development provided by licensed coaching professionals. • Provide opportunities for coaches/trainers to continue to refine and enhance the players’ skills and knowledge in soccer. • Develop relationships within the local community to acquire facilities, equipment, resources and publicity to enhance all players’ soccer experience • Develop relationships within the soccer community that will offer player opportunities at the high school, college, ODP or National team levels. • Developing top level soccer teams that possess superior technical, tactical and physical skills while exhibiting the highest degree of sportsmanship. • Provide practice and league game facilities. The Board of Directors shall make decisions based on the following priorities (in order) considering individual facts and circumstances: • The best interests of the Club • The best interests of an individual team • The best interests of an individual player • The best interests of coaches and parents FFSC players and their Parents agree to put the Club ahead of the Team. When decisions are made regarding conflicts between the Club and a particular Team or player, the Club will come first. Club decisions will be made by a majority vote of the BOD. The decisions of the BOD shall be final. All Coaches and Team Managers for each team must be approved by the BOD. No team shall have a coach, an assistant coach, a trainer, or a manager who has not been approved by the BOD. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. 3 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
THE TEAM AND THE INDIVIDUAL: FFSC Players and their Parents agree to put the Player’s Team ahead of the individual Player. If conflicts arise between the Team, a Player or a Player’s Parent, the Team Coach, in consultation with and under the direction of the BOD, if necessary, will be responsible to make decisions for the good of the Team. These decisions will be made after gathering all available information and consulting with those involved. Once a decision has been made, it is final. Players and Parents shall abide by the decision. THE PLAYER: You are under no pressure to become a player for FFSC. We hope that you and your Parents will consider all options and choose what will be best for you; taking into consideration your goals and aspirations as a person and a soccer player. Once you commit to play for FFSC, you agree to abide by all the policies, procedures and rules of the Club. By signing this agreement, you commit to follow the policies and procedures of FFSC, this Agreement and all policies and procedures of Cal South and Coast Soccer League (CSL). This commitment is for one soccer season only. The FFSC season runs from May 1 through April 30 of each year. In the event your team participates in regional or national competitions, you are expected to fulfill your commitment to your team through the end of these competitions, regardless of your status with the Club for the following season. FFSC requires its players and Parents to be ethical, honest, and honor their commitments, both verbal and written. Therefore, you should make your decisions thoughtfully and carefully based on your individual needs. Your commitment to FFSC shall be your full participation and support for the entire soccer season. Club and Team activities (meetings, training sessions, fundraisers, etc.) are the basic commitments each player is to perform throughout his or her commitment with FFSC. Please consider when you make your commitment to FFSC, the Team Coach may need to inform other potential players they did not make the team because the Coach has filled his or her roster. Please be sensitive to others and consider your decision to join FFSC carefully. As a member and player of FFSC, you are responsible for your own conduct on and off the field while representing FFSC. Honesty, communication, and reliability will be expected at all times. Take pride in yourself and respect the sport of soccer. This requires that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and a healthy attitude. The use of drugs, alcohol or tobacco (including vaping) by ANY member of FFSC is not acceptable to FFSC and is in violation of Cal South Rules and Regulations. This rule applies to players, coaches and all other members of our Club. Any violation of these rules may result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension, dismissal and/or removal from further participation with FFSC. The Team Coaches are responsible for creating an environment to play quality competitive soccer. A player’s family and schoolwork should always be the first priority for every member of FFSC. However, if the Coach believes you are not willing to put your commitment to soccer with FFSC above other recreational activities during the season, it may affect your playing time and/or your status with FFSC. As a member of FFSC, you are to be committed to your team as your first recreational activity and priority during the Club season. 4 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
Players should expect, as a part of their training, that at times, their coach may be critical of the player’s work ethic, commitment, or actual play during practices or games. This is part of the coaching process. Coaches will also use praise and congratulatory remarks to encourage improvement in the player. Over time, there are things the coach will come to expect from every player. There are times when the coaches will say very little and times they may speak loudly to give instructions. There are times they will be critical of players and other times they will be generous with praise. Players and Parents are expected to take constructive criticism along with praise for a job well done and be able to deal with both. Playing time is at the sole discretion of the Team Coach within the guidelines provided by FFSC. Should you commit to FFSC, FFSC will honor its commitment to you. No Player shall be cut from a Team during a soccer league season, unless there has been a violation of Cal South Rules and Regulations, League of competition rules and regulations and/or a violation of FFSC Rules and Guidelines. Should a player decide to leave a team within the guidelines of Cal South Rules, a player has the absolute right to request to be released from the Team by obtaining the proper process from the Club Registrar. Should a player not know which team they would like to move to, they can be released and placed in what is called a “drop pool”. From this drop pool, any District Commissioner or Assistant District Commissioner can create a District Pool Pass that is the sole possession of the player until he/she should choose to transfer to a different team or club. DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS: This Player-Parent-Coach Agreement is to present what will be expected of you as a player and to each player’s Parents and coaches, as to what you can expect of FFSC, the Team, and the Coaches. If you are uncertain of what is expected, it is your responsibility to ask your Coach or a member of the Board of Directors. The Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics, as encouraged by Cal South and USYSA, shall be respected and adhered to. The Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics is attached to this agreement (page 15 & 16). Knowing and understanding the expectations of you as a player and as a parent of a player of FFSC will make your participation in FFSC more positive for you as you develop your soccer skills to a higher level. Rules, regulations and policies of Cal South and FFSC must be adhered to. Should disciplinary actions be necessary, the following steps shall be followed: 1. The Team Coach and/or BOD will discuss the problem directly and privately with the Player, with the assumption the problem will be corrected immediately. 2. If the problem persists, the Team Coach and/or BOD will communicate with the Player’s Parents, in the presence of the Player, to discuss the problem and lack of response on the part of the Player. Parents will have the opportunity to be involved with correction of the problem at this time. 3. If the problem still continues, the Team Coach, and/or BOD may temporarily suspend the Player from participation at any and/or all Team activities. If the situation warrants, the Team Coach shall recommend to the BOD that the Player be removed from the Club. The Parents will be notified by the BOD of this recommendation. 5 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
4. The Parents of any Player recommended for removal from a team and participation with FFSC may request to meet with the Board of Directors. It is the desire of FFSC to work in a positive and constructive manner with FFSC Players and their Parents. If satisfactory resolutions cannot be obtained through the processes defined herein, FFSC reserves the right to pursue disciplinary action as the BOD deems appropriate. Among other sanctions, teams that fail to meet their financial responsibilities to FFSC, may lose priority for practice times/locations. A team may also not be invited to return for the following season due to failure to meet financial requirements or participate in accordance with FFSC policies and procedures. BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE GAME: During the soccer season, the Team and its players participate in many activities such as: practices, league competition, tournaments, Governors/Presidents/Mayors Cup, National Cup, and other team related activities. The Team Coach will make decisions on player selections, game lineup, a player’s playing position in games and practices, the amount of playing time each player may be allocated, a team’s tournament participation, and all other team activities. Each of these duties of the coach shall be completed by the coach in accordance with FFSC policies, procedures and guidelines. Players must be positive in fulfilling the role they are asked to perform for the Team at any moment in time. This includes even if the role of the player, as defined by the coach, provides for less playing time than what the player expected, the player not being named to the starting lineup, or the player being asked to play a different position than what the player may be accustomed to. From the designated arrival time at all practices and games, players are expected to concentrate on soccer. Players must arrive on time with required equipment (shoes, proper FFSC attire, soccer ball, shin guards, water, and any other equipment the player may need) and be ready to play or practice. Since practice and playing requires the undivided attention of the player, there shall be no visiting between players, Parents, family, friends, pets, or the use of cell phones during practice or games. Once the Team responsibilities are completed, players are free to join family and friends. • The coach and/or approved trainer will coach only from the designated coaching area on the sideline during games. Players shall remain within this designated area for the entire match. Parents and spectators shall remain outside of this designated area per IFAB and CalSouth guidelines. • Parents, spectators, and players should refrain from criticizing or expressing dissent or displeasure toward the Coaches, Referees or any other Team Member for any reason, before, during or after matches. • There shall be no use of foul or abusive language or gestures toward the coach, trainer, fellow players, referee, opponents or spectators at any time. 6 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
• Spectators shall not enter the field of play during match play. Any spectator who violates this rule will be subject to penalties and probable suspension by the FFSC Board of Directors. THE PARENTS: Parental support and involvement in the Club are essential. If your son/daughter decides to commit to play for FFSC, your commitment as a supportive parent is also necessary. If players are to make a quality commitment to FFSC and their Team, all Parents must insure their son/daughter attends all possible Club and Team functions (practices, meetings, games, tournaments, fundraisers, etc.). It is understood there may be time conflicts which cannot be avoided. It is the Team Coach’s responsibility to present a periodic schedule to adequately allow players and the Parents to plan their time around practices and game times. When Parents or players have an unavoidable conflict, the Team Coach expects timely communication to allow time for any necessary adjustments. FFSC insists that all parent(s) when communicating with the Team Coach be respectful and use common courtesy when discussing any matter regarding your Player and/or the Team. Any parent who is alleged to have disrespected or dishonored the Club, its policies or programs, any of the coaches, trainers or assistant coaches of FFSC, or any players of FFSC or any other soccer club, including their own son or daughter who is a playing member of FFSC. Any parent who is alleged to have disrespected or dishonored other team member Parents or Parents of other players of FFSC or other soccer clubs, shall meet with the FFSC Board of Directors, if so requested by the board. Important Note: There shall be no recruiting of players from any FFSC existing team by any coach, parent, member, associate or individual, directly or indirectly, by any other FFSC team. Any participant found soliciting, directly or indirectly, Parents, Players and/or teams to leave FFSC individually or as a Team, shall be subject to disciplinary action, including removal from any further participation in FFSC. Inappropriate behavior by a Parent as determined by the BOD may result in disciplinary action, including removal from participation in the Club. SIDELINE COACHING: There will be NO coaching by Parents and/or player supporters. Your vocal support and positive encouragement are welcomed. Screaming “Go” or “Shoot” are interpreted as instructions, and as such, are not permitted. It is important that players not be distracted at practices or during games and that players be given only one set of instructions, by one voice before, during, and after, practices and games. Please allow the Team Coach’s voice to be the only voice at all games and practices. No one other than those listed on the official game roster may sit on or near the Team bench before and during games. Please respect the space and privacy necessary for the Team Coach and Team to carry out their game responsibilities. FFSC employs the philosophies of long-term growth and total development of each player. Thus, Club, Team, and Player development will sometimes be given a greater priority than winning. There will be instances when the Team Coach will make decisions where players are instructed to do things Parents will not understand and/or agree with. 7 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
THE COACH: FFSC Coaches shall conduct themselves as a positive role model and display appropriate behavior at all times. The Team Coach shall schedule individual team practices for his/her respective team(s). Upon preparation for Governors/Presidents/Mayors Cup or National Cup, time commitments may increase and conflicts may occur. The Team Coach will attend as many practices and games as possible for each team, but conflicts still may occur from time to time leaving coaches unavailable for a scheduled practice or game. In situations where conflicts do occur, the BOD will designate an appropriate Coach or Assistant Coach to cover that particular practice or game. What an Assistant Coach or Cover Coach will be paid to compensate the Assistant Coach or Cover Coach for filling in and coaching for the Head Coach shall be determined by the respective Team Leadership and the Coach covering the game(s) and practice(s). It is important for players and Parents to understand that soccer is a player’s game. Once players reach a certain level of skill, with the accumulated maturity and experience, they become more important to the Team’s success than the Coach. Important Note:Any violation of FFSC Player-Parent-Coach Agreement and/or Guidelines may result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension or dismissal/removal from participation in FFSC. TEAM MANAGER: Each Team shall have its own Team Manager. Team Managers shall be approved by the Team Coach, and then each must be approved by the FFSC Board of Directors. The Team Manager shall not be related to the Team Coach. Each Team Manager and/or Team Administrator, will need to be cleared through the Cal South live scan/risk management database prior to being issued an administrator card and handling or possessing any player paperwork or player ID cards. FFSC Team Managers are expected to uphold the policies of the Club and organize all activities for their Team. Team Managers are to act as the liaison for the Club and Team in any and all respective Club events, and act as the Team contact for the league, FFSC, and state association. Each manager is also responsible for many of the administrative duties such as: registrations (Players, Administrators and Team), applications (tournaments and league), player profiles, and meetings for the Club and the league. Any Team Manager found soliciting Parents, Players and/or team to leave FFSC individually or as a Team, shall be subject to discipline, including immediate removal as Team Manager. Any violation of FFSC Player-Parent-Coach Agreement and/or Guidelines may result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension or dismissal/removal from participation in FFSC. Should an existing Team Manager be required to step down due to a conflict of interest or other conflicts (i.e. child leaves the team), the Team must identify an interim manager approved by the Team Coach, who then must be approved by the FFSC Board of Directors and shall meet the required risk management requirements as set forth herein and in Cal South rules and regulations. The Registrar and BOD must be notified of any departure of an existing Team Manager. 8 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT

Codes of Conduct In order to ensure that the principles of sportsmanship, fair play, and mutual respect among players, coaches, officials, and spectators characterize all competition sponsored by Cal South, the following Code of Conduct has been established. It is the obligation of all program administrators, coaches, parents, and players to create an environment that promotes this objective. Those who willfully violate this code jeopardize their participation in the Cal South soccer program. Coaches The coach's role is one of teaching soccer skills and sportsmanship to the players. The coach is responsible for communicating practice and game times to the players and parents. The coach is also responsible for monitoring the behavior of the players and parents during practice and games. All coaches within the soccer program will promote good sportsmanship among players, foster team camaraderie, and help participants have fun while teaching players the technical skills of soccer. Unsportsmanlike conduct of coaches will not be tolerated by the program. Such unsportsmanlike conduct includes berating or making unkind comments to a player or referee that would reasonably be expected to cause substantial embarrassment to the player or referee. Other examples include the intentional abuse or attempt to abuse the player selection system or willful failure to follow program rules. Each coach agrees to the code of conduct, certifies that he/she has read all Cal South Rules and will abide by them and acknowledges that coaching in the soccer program is a privilege and not a right. In addition, each Coach will ensure that his/her conduct sets a good example for team members and spectators. To meet these responsibilities, the Coach is expected to: • Know the official Laws of the Game of soccer and the rules of Cal South, and abide by them. • • Instruct player and parents in the rules and motivate each player to compete according to the rules at all times. • Respect the game officials at all times. Refrain from questioning their decisions or challenging their authority. • Ensure that the Cal South rules are followed by all players and spectators. • Ensure that fans of his or her team exhibit sportsmanship and maturity at all times and assist league and game officials in maintaining control of spectators during games. • Respect the coaches and players of the opposing team before, during, and after the game. • Take appropriate steps to minimize scoring in runaway games. • Teach each player, especially through personal example, to be humble and generous in victory and proud and courteous in defeat. 14 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
• Maintain control of his/her emotions and avoid actions, language, and/or gestures that may be interpreted as hostile and humiliating. • Teach and practice good sportsmanship and fair play by personally demonstrating commitment to these virtues. • Promote the concept that soccer is merely a game, and that players and coaches on other teams are opponents, but not enemies. Players Every player is expected to: • Know and respect the rules of soccer and Cal South and abide by them at all times. • Show respect and courtesy to officials and coaches by following their instructions and directions. • Respect the game officials and refrain from addressing them or commenting on their decisions during or after the game. • Maintain control of his/her emotions, avoiding the use of abusive or profane language, taunting or humiliating remarks, and/or gestures and physical assault upon another player at any time. • Respect the coaches and players of the opposing team and display sportsmanship at the conclusion of a game and be humble and generous in victory and proud and courteous in defeat. • Follow all Association rules, respecting at all times the property of others. • Remember that soccer is a game, and treat players and coaches on other teams as opponents, not enemies. Parents and Spectators The role of parents and spectators is one of support to the players and coaches. Parents and spectators should not engage in "coaching" from the sidelines, criticizing players, coaches or game officials or trying to influence the makeup of the team at any time. Every parent and spectator is expected to: • Learn and respect the rules of soccer and the rules of Cal South. • Show respect and courtesy to game officials, coaches, and players at all times. • Respect the game officials and refrain from questioning their decisions or from addressing them in a loud, disrespectful, or abusive manner. • Cheer for your child's team in a positive manner, refraining at all times from making negative or abusive remarks about the opposing team. Maintain control of your emotions and avoid actions, language, and/or gestures that may be interpreted as hostile and humiliating. • Ensure that your child is at all games and practices at the required time or provide the coach with an appropriate excuse beforehand. • Demonstrate appropriate gestures of sportsmanship at the conclusion of a game, win or lose. • Teach and practice good sportsmanship and fair play by personally demonstrating commitment to these virtues. • Promote the concept that soccer is merely a game, and that players and coaches on other teams are opponents, not enemies. 15 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
California State Soccer Association - South Code of Ethics I. Introduction As a matter of fundamental principle, the entire California State Soccer Association – South (Cal South) organization shall adhere to the highest ethical standards because it is the right thing to do. As a matter of pragmatic self-interest, Cal South should do so because public trust in our performance is the bedrock of our legitimacy. Sponsors, donors and volunteers support our organization because they trust us to carry out our mission, to be good stewards of our resources, and to uphold rigorous standards of conduct. Cal South must earn this trust every day and in every possible way. But organizations are, at base, people, and it is up to the people of Cal South―board members, executive leaders, staff and volunteers―to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to the core values of integrity, honesty, fairness, openness, respect, and responsibility. Cal South encourages every member league, club, and tournament organization to have a formally adopted code of ethics with which all of their board members, staff and volunteers are familiar and to which they adhere. Member organizations are of course free to simply adopt this one for their own use. Adherence to public law and the rules of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), United States Soccer Federation (USSF), United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), United State Adult Soccer Association (USASA), and Cal South is the minimum standard of expected behavior. Transparency, openness and responsiveness to our membership and the general public must be integral to our behavior. II. Principles and Values Cal South pledges to govern all of our endeavors to ensure: • All of our registered players train and play in a safe environment; • Member organizations as well as the Cal South staff and committees are associated with the highest level of sportsmanship; • All of our affairs will be conducted with transparency, integrity and honesty; • We always show respect for the worth and dignity of all; • We always follow the rules of our organization; • Responsible stewardship of resources; and, • Commitment to excellence in all that we do. III Standards of Behavior for Cal South A. General Standards 16 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT

D. Decision Hierarchy Cal South makes decisions based on the following priorities (in order) considering individual facts and circumstances: 1. The best interests of Cal South, including Cal South State Tournaments, Programs & Events. 2. The best interests of a League/Club, including League/Club sponsored tournaments. 3. The best interests of a gaming circuit. 4. The best interests of an individual team. 5. The best interests of an individual player. 6. The best interests of the coaches and parents. This hierarchy recognizes a player is not well served without a team to play on, and a team is not well served without a strong League/Club to provide the fields, coaching, and opportunities. It recognizes none of the membership is well served unless the Association and all of its events and programs designed to protect and serve the membership are strong and of the highest quality. IV. Enforcement Failure to adhere to this Code of Ethics may result in a hearing sanctioned by the Board of Directors. Appropriate action(s) may be taken up to and including expulsion from the organization. 18 of 19 Pages FFSC 2020/21 PLAYER-PARENT-COACH AGREEMENT
