Welcome to The Common Good The Common Good, an initiative of The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, is the official charity partner of the Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane. As a rider in the Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane, we welcome you to our fundraising team! The original cycling event, The Cycle of Giving, was founded in 2006 by Mal and Mary Long, after Mal received a life-saving heart transplant. The event was an integral part of fundraising for medical research for 14 years. In 2020, we partnered with the Tour de Brisbane to make the cycling event even bigger and better. The funds you raise will go directly towards life-changing medical research in the areas of heart and lung disease, dementia, mental health and organ transplant. Our brilliant and dedicated researchers need funding that is ongoing and sustainable if they are to continue their amazing medical discoveries. Every dollar of your fundraising efforts will go directly to medical research investigating chronic diseases which affect 90% of the population. The Common Good runs social enterprise cafes to cover operating expenses, allowing 100% of the funds you raise in the Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane to go straight to medical research. Did you know that one hour of medical research costs just $44? With an expected 10,000 riders, if each rider raised just $44, or just ONE hour of research, we’d smash our fundraising target! This year we hope to fund over 5,600 hours of life-changing medical research. It’s an ambitious target, but we’re confident we’ll get there. Why? Because of you.
