DEAR PLAYERS, MEMBERS AND FANS, As an absolute lover of the ‘game played in heaven’, the first match of the season whether a player, coach, spectator or an administrator, is exciting and full of expectation. It is even more so in 2021 when one considers that the last time the Force played in Super Rugby here in Perth was July 2017; three years, seven months and four days ago! I am sure you are as thrilled as I am to have the Force back in action right here in WA where we belong. I welcome you all to the season opener at HBF Park! Tonight’s game is a big occasion for the Western Force as we take on the reigning Super Rugby AU champions. With several high- profile international recruits, Australians returning from overseas and a significant number of loyal fan-favourites continuing their journey with the club, the squad is looking very strong. There is nothing better than live rugby in front of your home fans. In 2021, we have a minimum of three more home games in the Australian competition, followed by Super Rugby Trans- Tasman; you will be able to see the Force play against the always entertaining Chiefs and Highlanders from New Zealand in Perth again. Plus, a special one-off event here at HBF Park with an opponent still to be confirmed. Enjoy the game! Tony Lewis CEO, Western Force

FORCE TAKE ON THE CHAMPIONS IN HISTORIC SEASON OPENER After three years, seven months and four days, Super Rugby returns to HBF Park tonight as the Western Force take on the reigning champions, the ACT Brumbies. Having played out a highly entertaining and high scoring trial match last week in Canberra, tonight’s season opener is set to be an absolute blockbuster. The Force have a number of notable stars primed to make their first start in a blue jersey tonight, including Ireland legend Rob Kearney at fullback, Wallabies powerhouse and former Brumbies centre Tevita Kuridrani, as well as powerful Argentinian international flanker Tomás Lezana. Ian Prior will once again lead the Force out starting at scrumhalf, as he captains the side for the fourth consecutive season. The Brumbies will be packing plenty of firepower as well, with Wallabies scrumhalf Nic White looking to be the creative spark, which will be complemented by an all-star front row led by captain Allan Alaalatoa. Starting on the left wing, Force stalwart and USA world cup player Marcel Brache believes it’s going to be a season opener for the ages. “We’re expecting a really tough battle. It doesn’t get any bigger or better than facing the champions,” Brache explained. “To have rugby back at HBF Park is huge and to have Super Rugby back here for supporters near and far is awesome.”
