Food Network at Sea… Commonly Asked Questions Why is this price higher than what’s on Celebrity’s website for this cruise? This package includes many special Food Network events – similar Food Network events on land cost from $150-$1,500 per person. This package also includes special amenities not available to other cruise guests. Such as direct access to the Food Network celebrity chef. Some of the highlights may include: • Priority VIP Pier-side check-in • Food Network VIP Hospitality Area • Food Network Exclusive Red Carpet Welcome Aboard Reception (Open Bar) • Enriching Culinary Demonstrations led by Food Network celebrity chefs • Hands on cooking classes in an intimate setting led by members of the Food Network Kitchens culinary team • Dine Around featuring favorite Food Network recipes paired with select wines (Complimentary wines) • Cocktails and BBQ at The Lawn Club (Hosted cocktails) • Pre-paid gratuities • Special turndown gifts! Can you tell me more about these events? What is VIP Pier-side check-in? When you arrive at the pier you will see Food Network Travel signs, as well as Food Network Travel Hosts directing you to a special check-in area for Food Network guests. You will be among the first to board the ship and avoid long lines.
What’s the Food Network VIP Hospitality Area? This is a hospitality area available exclusively for Food Network guests during the cruise filled with posters, cookbooks, comfortable seating and where Food Network special snacks and drinks are served each day. It’s a great place to hang out with fellow fans, as well as talk to the Food Network Travel Hosts, and perhaps catch a screening of a show. How do I know what’s happening on a daily basis? In addition to the schedule of events I’ll send you prior to the cruise, upon embarkation guests can go to the Food Network VIP Hospitality Area to collect their Welcome Packet. This includes the schedule of events for the cruise at a glance. The Food Network Travel Hosts will inform you of any updates to the schedule, or new additions, by voicemail or with a written note placed in your stateroom at turndown. How are other guests prevented from joining these events – and getting what I paid for, for free? The Welcome Packet includes a Food Network Travel lapel pin that should be worn to all events to designate you as part of the group and give you special access to the by-invitation-only events. There may be a few events that are open to the whole ship for an additional cost to those guests. What is the Red Carpet Welcome aboard Reception? Each guest will arrive like a star and walk the red carpet and pose for a picture with the Food Network celebrity chef, which you’ll receive as a complimentary turndown gift later in the cruise. In addition, a selection of tasty hors d’oeuvres from the recipes of Food Network Kitchens will be passed, and there will be an open bar.
What happens at the culinary demonstration by the Food Network celebrity chef? Not only will the celebrity chef entertain the Food Network guests with a demonstration of a couple of dishes, but the chef will dish on what really goes on behind-the-scenes at Food Network and in their own kitchen! In addition, you’ll be served a sample of what the chef is preparing, and receive a recipe card so you can try the recipe at home with your friends. There will probably be time for autographs and a photo with the chef as well. Are the hands-on cooking classes really hands-on? Yes, the hands on cooking classes are limited to a small number of guests at a time so that each guest has a chance to interact with the chef from Food Network Kitchens, as well as actually prepare – and taste - what is being taught! Previous classes have included dumplings & potstickers, as well as savory crostini and sweet truffles. Recipes will be provided. Also, the classes are limited so I will assist you with pre-registering for your preferred time on line. What’s a Dine Around? A Dine Around is a cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine pairings stations, similar to events you may go to at a Food Network Food and Wine Festival…but without the crowds! This reception showcases various tastes and a wide range of menu items from Food Network recipes. Many guests enjoy this event as their dinner, while others may opt to also dine in an additional venue that evening, be it the Dining Room, specialty restaurant, or other option. The choice is up to you! What are Cocktails and BBQ at the Lawn Club? This very casual dinner event is sure to be one of the many highlights of the cruise. Imagine a private party on a half acre lawn 12 stories above the sea! Live music, themed cocktails, and delicious and
substantial grilled items from Food Network recipes will be served. Again, many guests enjoy this as their dinner, but you of course may avail yourself of other dining options around the ship that evening. What gratuities are covered as part of this package? Gratuities for your stateroom and main dining room services are included. The value depends on the cruise line, length of the cruise and in some cases which category of suite or stateroom. What are the special turndown gifts? Each night a freshly-baked cookie or similar treat will be delivered to your stateroom, prepared from favorite Food Network recipes. In addition, you’ll receive an occasional surprise gift from us and Food Network. What dinner seating should I choose? In order for all of our guests to have the optimal dining experience, we have scheduled the majority of the evening events around the most popular Late Seating Dining at 8:30 pm. And, we have a reserved section in the Dining Room for all Food Network guests. If you choose to dine outside of our group time, please note that the evening events will be after early seating and I don’t recommend it. For example, the Red Carpet Welcome Reception would likely be scheduled from 7:45 pm until 8:30 pm so that you can enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres prior to your 8:30 pm dinner seating. However, the other evening events, such as the Dine Around or Lawn Club party are designed to replace dinner, so you would not have to attend your assigned seating. That said, there are numerous dining options from which to choose to make sure you never go hungry, such as specialty restaurants and other casual areas. In addition, Celebrity Select Dining is Celebrity Cruises' flexible dining option which offers a day by day reservation option that will allow you the opportunity to make
dinner reservations for your desired dining time between 6:00 pm and 9:30 pm. When will I get information about the events on board and any other helpful hints I should know ahead of time? I will send you a “Get Ready to Go!” e-mail between 60 and 90 days prior to your departure. This will outline basic information such as what documentation is required, what to pack, how to check-on online and get luggage tags ahead of time, as well as instructions for embarkation, and a preliminary schedule of all of the by-invitation-only events. This schedule will enable you to pre-reserve specialty restaurants and other activities as you wish, prior to your cruise!
