Questions to ask yourself (and about your organization): Are we: ▪ Cloud First (and only) ▪ Dipping our toes (where it makes sense…) ▪ On Prem First 6
Questions to ask yourself (and about your organization): Is there organizational alignment on what the “cloud” means? Is there common understanding of differences between Software as a Service vs Infrastructure as a Service? 7
Questions to ask yourself (and about your organization): What is the state of our disaster recovery plans? 8
Questions to ask yourself (and about your organization): Can my organization easily spin up temporary databases for testing or evaluation? How do we evaluate the latest tools features or functionality? https://www.youtube.com/user/PSFTOracle/featured 9
Case Study Challenge Presented: FFNWB’s previous financial accounting software (SaaS) provided limited options to support the growing needs of the company. It was slow, lacked security and functionality, and left their team unable to enhance the system or add new features. 10
“Cloud” 101
Cloud Infrastructure 101 “Cloud” 101 12
“Cloud” 101 IT Budgets: ▪ Cloud Spending is accelerating: • 2018: 19% of IT Budgets spent on Cloud • 2022: 28% of IT Budgets will be spent on the Cloud ▪ The largest cloud shift before 2018 was in SaaS ▪ Post 2018, the largest shift in dollars will be in Infrastructure ▪ 4-5 year cycles mean hardware renewals within the next few years will create an inflection point for IT Organizations. https://www.informationweek.com/cloud/it-budgets-traditional-still-bigger-than-cloud-/d/d-id/1332848 13
Typical Problems with Capacity Planning Example: PUM maintenance or Tools Patching/Upgrade 14
Cloud Elasticity allows for “Right Size” ▪ Don’t over commit or “build for the future” ▪ Right Size based on current needs ▪ Monitor, Assess, Expand ▪ Necessary for a true ROI on your move to the cloud 15
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 17
OCI - Compute Central Service within OCI ▪ Two main groups: VM or Bare Metal ▪ Wide range of options for Performance, Price, Scalability and High Performance ▪ Image = Windows or Linux ▪ Shape = Defines Processing Power 18

Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap - Database Refresh Enablement As customers evaluate and adopt new enhancements and bug fixes, they need to adequately test out the changes prior to moving them into production. To complete the required testing, many customers use an obfuscated copy of production database for testing. On a regular basis, this data must be refreshed from production. In an effort to increase automation and streamline the effort around this process, PeopleSoft Cloud Manager is planning to enable database refresh automation from a backup residing either as on-premise or in the Oracle Cloud. As this process requires various tasks to be completed (such as the obfuscation of data) along the way, customized scripts including audits or other checks may be run either before or after the refresh is performed. Cloud Manager will also provide the ability to schedule future refresh/restore events, both as a one-off and recurring events. 40
Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap - Preserving Domain Customizations through PeopleTools Updates When a new PeopleTools release or patch is applied today, new application and web server domains (along with the Process Scheduler) are created. This process deletes any customizations that may have been made. Cloud Manager is planning to enhance the upgrade and patch processes by optionally exporting the current domains and restoring them after the update is complete. Hooks will be provided to enable user scripts to be run prior to the domain exports and imports, as well as after the import has been completed. 41
Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap – Retro Provisioning There are times where a typo can cause significant inconvenience. Transposing letters in a password and finding the error 20 minutes later is frustrating. Then, you need to correct it and start the whole script over again. No more! PeopleSoft Cloud Manager will enable you to correct the password and or a number of other recoverable errors. When it’s fixed, you can resume from that step. Cloud Manager will provide a list of steps it’s running along with the status so you can see exactly what steps have been completed and if they are successful. And if something fails, you’ll know what the issue is, how to correct it and in many cases be able to simply resume from the failure point. 42
Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap – Supporting Fault Domains Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides several different capabilities that help enable a highly available solution. Within each OCI availability domain, three separate fault domains group hardware and infrastructure to deliver anti-affinity. Fault domains help ensure your workloads are not interrupted by a hardware failure or application of maintenance. Cloud Manager will provide the ability to specify the desired fault domain when creating new nodes to help you implement high availability for your PeopleSoft applications. 43
Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap – Backup and Restore Enhancements A critical function for any production system is the ability to back it up and restore it, should the need arise. Cloud Manager is planning to add several enhancements in this area, including: • Performing an on-demand backup of all nodes/tiers of a PeopleSoft environment within the same region. Either all tiers or individual tiers may be selected. • Scheduling automated backups for all nodes/tiers within a region. Either all tiers or individual tiers may be selected. • Restoring all nodes to the same target instance within a single region. • Providing ability to associate a restore of the middle tiers with a manually created database backup. 44
Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap – Expanding Support for File Storage Service (FSS) Cloud Manager Image 10 provided support for FSS to be used by the Download Manager. We are planning to expand this functionality by enabling the use of FSS with the middle tiers, including PS_HOME, PS_APP_HOME and PS_CUST_HOME. Additionally, FSS will be enabled for shared storage with the report repository. This will allow users to share data across all middle tiers in a given environment. 45
Building PeopleSoft on OCI – Cloud Manager ▪ Roadmap – Government Cloud Support As more and more public sector customers at the state and federal levels move to the cloud, demand for compliance with various standards (including FedRAMP and DISA), has increased. Cloud Manager plans to support environments using OCI Government Cloud 46
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure – Pricing Comparison 47
Customer Success Stories Challenge Presented: CHW’s IT department was concerned that their hardware and software were no longer actively supported by the vendor with upgrades, patches and technical support. They needed to address the risks that came along with these end-of-life technology challenges, including security vulnerabilities, software incompatibility, compliance issues, poor performance and higher support costs. 48
Customer Success Stories Proposed Solution: We began by conducting several days of on-site training with CHW’s team to get them comfortable with OCI and PeopleSoft Cloud Manager. Then, a rapid lift-and-shift was performed to move servers, while maintaining CHW’s existing configurations to minimize disruptions. Lastly, SpearMC built a library of automated scripts using PeopleSoft Test Framework to help CHW complete faster, more consistent testing. 49
Customer Success Stories Results Achieved: With a modern, cloud-based infrastructure platform and fully trained team, CHW has saved time and money while minimizing risk. Now, instead of working tirelessly to catch up on server updates and respond to issues, IT can focus on staying current with PeopleSoft software updates and start contributing more to projects that matter to the business. 50
