Golden Eagles in Action
9 – 14 January 2019 1 – 4 February 2019 Utajärvi
Golden Eagles visit our feeding site in Utajärvi very actively in the middle of winter. In
January there can be up to ten Eagle individuals visiting the site daily. There is a good
opportunity to photograph Golden Eagles in action! Tours include either five full days
in January or three full days in February at our new professional eagle photography hide.

Winter Wonderland
27 January – 1 February 2019 Kuusamo
Finland is a perfect winter wonderland in this time of the year. Capture the beautifully
snow-covered Taiga forests. There is also a good chance for Aurora Borealis, a magical
and colourful display in the night sky which so many people can only dream of! During
the daytime we photograph Golden Eagles, Siberian Jays, Dippers and other birds visiting
our feeding sites actively. With some luck we can photograph also Owls during the tour.

Winter Owl photography tours
February – April can be good months to photograph winter Owls in Finland. Some years
we have Great Grey and Hawk Owls hunting out in open areas and they can be really
photographable. Occasionally also Snowy, Ural and Pygmy Owls may be photographable
as well.
When good Owl photography situation presents itself, we will announce Owl photography
tour dates in Finnature newsletter – please subscribe! You can also follow us on Facebook
or send e-mail to info@finnature.fi and we will add your name on our mailing list and
inform you of our winter Owl departures.
Eagles on Snow
3 – 8 April 2019 Kuusamo
This is the best time to photograph both White-tailed and Golden Eagles visiting the
feeding sites in Kuusamo. Conditions are still wintery with plenty of snow reflecting the
spring light! Also good opportunities for snow fall offering variability to images.

Birds & Mammals in Spring
15 – 26 April 2019 Oulu – Kuusamo – Suomussalmi – Lieksa – Oulu
In April spring arrives in Finland after the long winter! Migrant birds are just returning
and resident species are very active, such as Black Grouse and Capercaillie which start
their lek. There will still be plenty of snow on the ground, and this is a great time to
photograph the large carnivores of Finland – Brown Bear and Wolverine on snow. With
luck we may also photograph wild Wolves and some of the northern taiga forest Owl
species – Great Grey Owl or Hawk Owl!

Spring Birds
23 – 28 April 2019 Kuusamo
Imagine the rising sun and the sounds of lekking grouse in early morning. This is a chance
you can’t miss. This is the time to photograph lekking Black Grouse and Capercaillie in
Kuusamo. There will still be snow on the lekking grounds and the birds will be very active!

Lekking week – Capercaillie, Black Grouse and Ruff 6 – 12 May 2019 Kuusamo – Oulu Capercaillie and Black Grouse lek actively and females visit the lek sites providing good chances to get photos of mating grouse in Kuusamo. In Oulu, Ruffs arrive at the beginning of May and by the second week the lekking will be going on actively. Landcost price: 3090 € / person Group size: 4 – 6 photographers Ruff break 18 – 21 May 2019 Oulu Photograph the delightful and colorful Ruffs lekking at the bank of a small ditch and feeding in small water pond in front of our photography hides. Hides are situated in the most important wetland in Finland - Liminka Bay in Oulu area. Get great variation of Ruff images by joining to this short break for keen wildlife photographers. There are differences between years, and in a good vole year we have plenty of Owls nesting in Oulu and Kuusamo regions. Fishing Ospreys and Brown Bears in Finland 7 – 11 August 2019 Kuusamo Scheduled to cover the activity of both Ospreys and Brown Bears, this tour offers excellent setting for capturing them while preparing for winter. Ospreys start to stock up food for long migration and Bears prepare for hibernation - both visiting feeding sites actively! Join us on our 10th photography tour to Hokkaido. This beautiful wintery island offers great
photography opportunities. Amazing numbers of approachable birds can be found here in
beautiful winter scenery. It is unbelievable how many Steller’s Sea Eagles and White-tailed
Eagles you can see at the same time or how close to the Whooper Swans you can get! This
is also the best place in the world to photograph the beautiful Red-crowned Crane and the
largest Owl in the world - Blakiston´s Fish Owl. No hide photography!

Bathing Snow Monkeys of Jigokudani – Japan

All wildlife photographers love to photograph bathing Snow Macaques (aka Snow Monkeys)!
On this extension we spend two full days and one night in the park with the monkeys. This
will give us a great opportunity to photograph this enigmatic species throughout the day

This photography tour is timed in a way we can photograph wintering King and Steller´s
Eiders, but also spring migrants such as Atlantic Puffins and other seabirds on snow in
Varanger! In Lapland we will photograph Pine Grosbeaks, Siberian Tits and Siberian Jays.

Northern Norway in summer is magical - it is the season of the midnight sun and the Arctic
Summer. The sun does not set at all, providing 24 hours of light for amazing photography. The
nightless night offers beautiful opportunities to capture arctic birdlife. During one week we
visit the highlands for breeding birds such as Long-tailed Skua and Dotterel, and spend a lot of
time in the colonies of Hornoya island steeming with arctic seabirdlife.

Ultima Frontiera in the heart of mighty Danube delta represents the most equipped nature
photography in Europe! More than 30 photographic hides, boat-hide, tower hides, partially
underground hides, drinking station hides etc. This 1000 hectare private reserve has a good
standard hotel and the area is entirely dedicated for wildlife photographers and we have a freedom
to move around the estate with electric cars etc. White-tailed Eagles, Egrets and Herons, Pelicans,
Woodpeckers, many passerines and Golden Jackals will be our photography targets of this tour.
