A SPARKLING WELCOME W elcome to the fifth annual Hillside Inside! Last year’s move to a two-day, multi-venue event worked beautifully, so we’re trying it again this year—trying, that is, to bring you music, art, dance and all sorts of compelling activities that will keep you warm and engaged in this the middle of winter. Performers will be flying in from Australia (Kim Churchill) and Vancouver (Dan Mangan and Harry Manx) and bringing warmer breezes with them this February. They will be accompanied by amazing roots- rockers, The Wooden Sky, who will scoot in from Toronto, and Lowlands, a fantastic up-and-coming local band who merely have to saunter down the street to come to Hillside Inside. These performances will be surrounded by winter workshops and activities — from cooking to dancing — that will stretch your minds and limbs in the cozy corridors of downtown Guelph. We have twice as many activities this year as last, so check them out: by the end of the weekend, you could have dreadlocks, string-bound hands and flamenco feet — and feel totally Hillsidey. We thank and welcome our artists, our workshop presenters, our valiant Hillside Hockey and Curling organizers, our Fab 5 partners, our sponsors, and our crazy-wonderful volunteers. Here’s to winter, here’s to music, here’s to you and love and community. Thanks for coming. — The board of directors and staff at Hillside
