We would then deduct the remaining amount from your account. For this we ask you to give the direct debit authorization. (SEPA-direct debit mandate in Annex 1) 7 General – Rules Only items not mentioned in the “Rules for sailplane Grand Prix Version 11” will be shown in the local procedures. 9 COVID Conditions Special conditions required to comply with legal COVID-19 restrictions in Germany will be announced as soon as possible before the contest in a special bulletin. If applicable, a hygiene concept will be part of the rules document, following the official regulations. B Technical Information 1 Class The SGP will be held in the 18 m Class. The maximum permissible take-off mass is 600 kg. The organizer may limit the maximum take-off weight (525 kg) in case of special weather conditions (extreme temperatures, strong crosswinds or similar). 2 Documents to be presented at registration Pilot • Valid and active glider pilot license • FAI license • Valid medical certificate Sailplane • Certificate of Airworthiness or Permit to Fly • Certificate of registration • Logbook • Third party Insurance valid for competition The required coverage must comply with EU Regulation 785/2004 which states the following limits: 2022-03-27 P a g e 3 | 19
FAI 11TH SAILPLANE GRAND PRIX GERMANY 2022 Local Procedures | Version 1 o Certified MTOM < 1000 kg Minimum Limit SDR (*) 1 500 000 (*) Note: SDR means “Special Drawing Right” as defined by the International Monetary Fund. To view the current conversion rates from SDR’s to other currencies see: www.imf.org/. Documentary proof of insurance shall be made available to the organizer in German or English languages. Annex 2: Registration 3 Cloud flying – Instruments No cloud flying is permitted! Dangerous maneuvers on the ground or in the air as well as cloud flying and aerobatics are prohibited and will be punished at the discretion of the sport director. Instruments that allow flying without visibility are generally allowed as long as they are not used for cloud flying. 4 Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs) ELTs are not required. 5 Procedures for checking aircraft mass Take-off mass A check of the glider mass is intended to verify that the take-mass mass will not exceed 600 kg. The organizer may limit the maximum take-off weight (525 kg) in case of special weather conditions (extreme temperatures, strong crosswinds or similar) Initial weighing The organizer will initially provide the following weighing operation during the scrutineering. The results of this operation will be recorded and made available to the pilot concerned: a) Glider at max take-off weight (600 kg) with pilot and parachute, loose items such as thermos, drinks, tie-down equipment, additional clothing. Water may be added or dropped in order to adjust the weight. b) Reference “main wheel weight” in “towing out” configuration and all removable equipment on board with 600 kg. c) Glider at limited take-off weight (525 kg) with pilot and parachute, loose items such as thermos, drinks, tie-down equipment, additional clothing. Water may be added or dropped in order to adjust the weight. d) Reference “main wheel weight” in “towing out” configuration and all removable equipment on board with 525 kg. Regular weighing a) On all competition days all gliders will be weighed in their “towing out” configuration with all removable equipment on board at the weighing point on their way to the grid. The main wheel weight determined by the scrutineers will be used as the reference weight. Gliders exceeding their reference weight must discharge 2022-03-27 P a g e 4 | 19
FAI 11TH SAILPLANE GRAND PRIX GERMANY 2022 Local Procedures | Version 1 water ballast to achieve their reference weight at the weighing point without incurring penalties. b) A mass check can be required after re-lighting (re-launch) for another launch if water ballast is added. Re-ballasting the aircraft must be performed at the parking area. The competitor must be prepared for the time delay this check may cause. C General Flying Procedures 1 Units of measurement Units of measurement used on the pilot briefing sheet: unless otherwise stated distances will be expressed in kilometers and altitudes in meters AMSL, pressure in hectopascals and speeds in kilometers per hour. 2 ICAO-Map ICAO maps of the competition area with turning points will be provided. This map can be purchased for 20 €. 3 Radio frequencies to be used during the Grand Prix Transmissions may only be made on the frequencies prescribed by the organizers. The frequency for the Launches will be 134.535 MHz. The frequency for the Start, Finishes and Landing will be 134.535 MHz. The common radio frequency that shall always be used on task by competitors for flight safety, will be announced at the latest at the briefing. ➢ IGC SGP Rules § 8.7: Use of frequency other than the common frequency: 5 minutes. 4 Carrige of GNSS data transmitters for public displays Competitors will not be requested to carry data transmitters from the organization. As a consequence, all participants must use Flarm, set on at all times, in normal mode. Competition mode and Stealth mode are forbidden. D Gridding 1 The launch grid There will be 10 rows of 2 gliders. There is no fixed grid order. On the 11, filling from the back to front. On the 29, filling from front to back. (see in Annex 4) 2 Requirements for discharging of water ballast on the grid Water ballast may be discharged on the grid. If refilling of the tail tank is intended, the whole procedure of discharging and refilling of the tail tank has to be observed by the Competition Director. 2022-03-27 P a g e 5 | 19
FAI 11TH SAILPLANE GRAND PRIX GERMANY 2022 Local Procedures | Version 1 E Launch Procedures 1 Take off procedures will be given at the daily briefing 2 Release areas The release areas for the given day will depend on the start procedure and on the thermal conditions. The release area see Annex 5. 3 Standard tow altitude The standard tow altitude will normally be 500m AGL. The tow altitude will be defined at the daily briefing. Procedure for motor gliders: Self-starters must switch off the engine when reaching for the first time the towing altitude +50 m valid on that day. Any other release area shall be asked and approved by the SGP Director or mentioned during the daily briefing. Motorized sailplanes launched under tow have to complete the ENL certification on the first by a single engine start (first competition day or training day) immediately after disengagement (maximum 2 minutes, maximum climb/towing altitude +50 m. 4 Release Pilots shall not release until after the tow pilot has rocked the wings of the tow-plane. Pull- ups before releasing are prohibited. Circling in the release area between 300 m and 800 m AGL is prohibited. The release zone must be left quickly. Within a radius of 5 km around the airfield Eisenhüttenstadt left circling is mandatory. 5 Re-launch A glider may be re-launched provided it has landed within the boundaries of the airfield or the engine must be pulled on the opposite approach of the airfield. The glider will be re-launched as soon as possible. If several pilots need a re-launch they shall be re-launched in the same order as they landed back. Gliders requiring re-ballasting will have to be reweighed outside the grid. The competitor must be prepared for the appropriated time delay. Re-Launch of motor gliders has to be take the engine into the counter approach and announce this over the radio. F Start Procedures The opening of the start line and the radio procedures shall be compliant with the FAI Sailplane Grand Prix rules. All messages will be broadcasted on safety frequency. A maximum height limit at the start will be imposed and announced at briefing. 2022-03-27 P a g e 6 | 19
FAI 11TH SAILPLANE GRAND PRIX GERMANY 2022 Local Procedures | Version 1 G Finish and Landing Procedures 1 Arrival announcement Competitors shall announce their arrival on frequency 134.535 MHz by giving their contest number at the distance 10 km before the Finish Line. The acceptance reply will be the contest number. 2 Mandatory reporting point and finish line To complete all tasks the pilots will have to turn at a mandatory reporting point. The finish procedures are defined for arrivals from the East or from the West according to the Visual Approach card of Pohlitz. (Annex 6) The finish line is a straight line, of 0.5 km length, centered on the point 326 (Coordinates : 44° 03' 53" N - 005° 59' 37" E) or on the point 327 (Coordinates : 44° 03' 15" N - 005° 59' 24" E). The competitors shall remain above the minimum altitude of 200 m MSL of the finish line. Noncompliance will be penalized by 2 seconds per meter below this minimum altitude (no warning at the first offence!). 3 Landings After crossing the finish line, one aerodrome lap should be flown. Only if the altitude is not sufficient, direct landings are allowed. The landing procedures shall be detailed in Annex 7. 4 Speed finishes Speed finishes must be done higher than the minimum altitude 200 m MSL when crossing the finish line. Landing is via a southerly aerodrome circuit (Annex 7) Pilots are required to use grass runway and land long (no rolling out) so others get space. Landings must be made on the grass runway. No landings are allowed on the asphalt. Crews are required to be ready to retrieve their glider from the airfield immediately after landing. H Outlanding As soon as possible after the landing, the pilot or the crew team must inform the organization. It is recommended to send a WhatsApp private message or SMS to the organization. The Phone/WhatsApp number will be written on the task sheet. Lack of information about outlandings will be sanctioned. I Scoring 1 Handling of flight documents The IGC file in secure mode must be handed in by the competitor as soon as practicable, but not later than 30 minutes after landing. IGC files must be handled by each pilot in any of the following electronic means: • Via mail to grandprix@fsv-ehst.de, • In a USB memory stick or memory card (SD or Micro-SD format only) brought directly to the scoring office. 2022-03-27 P a g e 7 | 19
FAI 11TH SAILPLANE GRAND PRIX GERMANY 2022 Local Procedures | Version 1 J Protest 1 The value of the protest fee The amount of the protest fee is 150 EUR. The protest fee shall be returned if the protest is upheld or is withdrawn prior to the hearing by the Referee. K Liability and legal process All participants declare with sending the registration that they will renounce all damage compensation claims against the organizer, host and it’s helping institutions, unless in case of reckless or grossly negligent actions. This waiver does not count as far as an insurer recognizes a claim and settles it. The participants declare for themselves and their teams that they will accept all rules in this document. If the participants take place with a glider that is not owned by them, the owner of the glider declares that she/he agrees with the limitation of liability about damage to his/her glider. Minors need the signature of a legal representative. Any recourse to courts of law is excluded. 2022-03-27 P a g e 8 | 19

I do not receive any compensation for this. We would like to point out that video and photo recordings can be accessed worldwide when published on the internet.
