Rimini celebrates the 600 years of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. The birth of humanism
The mind, the heart and the body: these are the three focuses of the initiatives that Rimini Municipality has
defined to celebrate the anniversary of birth of an important figure in Rimini's history, symbolically linked to the
Malatesta Temple, the Sismondo Castle and the City.
The calendar, that began on 19th June to celebrate Sigismondo Malatesta's birthday, continues throughout the
year and beyond, until October (9th October 2018 is the 550th anniversary of his death). The program combines
culture, leisure and sport initiatives to animate the new spaces, the city and the territory, which are ideally related
to the project of urban requalification that began 2011.
The series of initiatives and events proposed during this period, such as exhibitions, conventions, concerts and
other events, will be concluded with a theatre performance dedicated to 'Malatesta', inside Sismondo Castle, real
residence of Sigismondo and one of the symbolic places in the history of Rimini and of the entire Malatesta
lineage, creating a unique show. The event wil take place in the month of October and will be repeated all the

Symphonic Orchestra of the G.Lettimi Institute and choir of the Malatesta Music Chapel
On 14th October, the city of Rimini celebrates its Patron Saint, San Gaudenzo. On this occasion a concert is
proposed in the Malatesta Temple, the Cathedral of Rimini.
The Orchestra of the Music Institute "G. Lettimi" and the Choir Cappella Malatestiana will present a performance
with music by Franz Joseph Haydn: the Symphony n. 96 in D Major "Il Miracolo" and the Mass "In Angustiis", also
known as "Nelson Mass" for soloists, chorus and orchestra.
Performers: the Symphony Orchestra of the "Istituto G. Lettimi", the choir of the "Cappella Musicale
Malatestiana" and the soloists Isabella Orazietti (soprano), Mara Gaudenzi (alto), Marco Mustaro (tenor) and Li
Shuxin (bass), all directed by Maestro Filippo Maria Caramazza.

ZERO ( Weak Fist ) at the Arch of Augusto in Rimini

Installation of the bright sculpture by the artist Patrik Tuttofuoco
ZERO (Weak Fist) is a project by the artist Patrick Tuttofuoco to promote Italian contemporary art in the world.
The Arch of Augustus in Rimini has inspired this installation; the Arch is a symbolic structure devoid of doors and
barriers, an architecture not of defense but of acceptance, witness of a period of peace and cohabitation among
the peoples. Two consular roads branch off from Rimini; the via Emilia and the via Flaminia, which reflect, a
“limes” that is both urban and universal, a connection between the boundaries of the city-state and the borders of
its political-administrative area. Zero(Weak Fist) is conceived as a traveling exhibition from 15th September 2018
to 17th February 2019: a bright sculpture designed to be relocated in Rimini, Berlin and Bologna, three cities that
have the character of a formal archaeological find, unchanged over time. The shape of the falling fist may seem a
surrender, but also a sign of non-violence, while ZERO is a sign that- in sign language - is expressed by showing
the closed hand with the thumb in contact with the tips of the other fingers, the moment between tension and
relaxation. ZERO (Weak Fist) is a changing work, visible during the night, and 'a non-violent gesture crept
between strong architectures that marks the persistence of a critical thought.

Antico/Presente Festival del Mondo Antico - Ancient World Festival
12th, 13th e 14th October 2018
20th edition
Three days of meetings, round tables, book presentations, guided tours, exhibitions ... around the relationship
between the West and the East, an eternal field of confrontation, collision and encounter, yesterday and today,
from antiquity to the contemporary world. With a focus on the era of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, on the 550th
anniversary of his death (October 9th 1468), and on a world that, between the fifties and sixties of the fifteenth
century, was about to radically change going from the end of the half millennium to modernity.
Children will also be involved with the traditional "Piccolo Mondo Antico Festival" with fun activities at the
Museum.
As regards the students, they will be once again reserved an independent moment with the authors in order to
discuss the History reinterpreted with the eyes of contemporaneity.
The opening of the Festival is entrusted to Marta Cartabia and Luciano Violante with a lectio magistralis on the
theme "Justice and Myth".

classic of the Royal Ballet repertoire characterized by emotional depth, seductive images and one of the most
challenging male roles ever created.Kenneth MacMillan has devised a complex choreography inspired by the
vicissitudes of the tormented heir to the throne of the Habsburgs, Prince Rudolf, and his lover, the seventeen-year-
old baroness Maria Vetsera. A background of amorous and political intrigues, in a story that culminates in a tragic
double suicide.

Project “Rimini ChiAma Camerino” in collaboration with La Pedivella
'Rimini chiAma Camerino' is a solidarity initiative promoted by the Parish of Sant'Andrea dell'Ausa - Il Crocifisso,
to help and support the people from Camerino affected by the earthquake on 26th October 2016.
Two years after the earthquake, the Parish in collaboration with the Association 'La Pedivella', organizes a walk of
solidarity which will take place on Saturday 27th October 2018. The walk starts from Piazza Tre Martiri, continues
along the streets of the center, up to the Tiberius Bridge and then ends in Piazza Tre Martiri with a concert by
'Banda Musicale Città di Camerino' and 'Filarmonica Città di Rimini'.
Inscriptions : at the Parish Sant'Andrea dell'Ausa (Crucifix, LUDOTECA WINNIE THE POOH), from October,
every afternoon from Monday to Friday, from 4 to 6 pm.
A free package of "Pasta di Camerino" will be given to those who support the project.

Review "Foto d'Autunno": Photo exhibition by Andrea and Magda . Twenty photos that tell stories about
Palestinian women with disabilities
As part of the review 'Foto d'Autunno', the exhibition 'I am a woman' opens at the Galleria dell'Immagine, where
photographs of Palestinian women with disabilities are exhibited. Their stories are told, along a photographic
itinerary created by the photographers Andrea and Magda as part of an International project carried out in
Palestine by the NGO EducAid. The exhibition aims to affirm the rights of people with disabilities and their
potential beyond stereotypes and prejudices, in a context, the Palestinian context, in which this condition is
strongly stigmatized, both in the family and in the social sphere. The images tell-with irony, strength and
brightness - stories of redemption of Palestinian women with disabilities who, thanks to the study and hard work,
have achieved their path of autonomy and self-determination.

First inaugural event of Galli Theater, Cecilia Bartoli performs with Les Musiciens du Prince, proposing Cinderella,
under the musical direction of Gianluca Capuano.
Born in Rome, but of Rimini origins, discovered by Daniel Barenboim, Herbert von Karajan and Riccardo Muti,
Cecilia Bartoli has a star career, now thirty years, worldwide.
Les Musiciens du Prince are a Baroque ensemble formed in spring 2016 at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, from an
idea by Jean-Louis Grinda, director of the Opéra. The project was immediately supported by Albert II, Prince of
Monaco and the Princess of Hannover. Since then, Les Musiciens du Prince and Cecilia Bartoli have been guests
of the most important European musical institutions and hailed by unanimous consents of the public and the
international press.

performance recorded a continuous sold out for all the performances proposed in the last spring and from October
4th will return every weekend of the month , with 4 performances per week. On 9th October at 9.00 pm special
evening for the 550 from the death of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta.
The show will be the prologue of the Theater Season 2018/2019 which wil be held in the new Galli Theatre for the
first time after the reconstruction.

Nicola Piovani, at the piano, tells the audience the sense of the jagged paths that led him to flank the work of De
André, Fellini, Magni, Spanish, French and Dutch directors for theater, cinema and television, of instrumental
singers, alternating the performance of unpublished theatrical pieces with new versions of the best known songs
rearranged for the occasion.
In the theatrical story words get where the music can not arrive, but at the same time music reigns where words
cannot. The videos of the scene integrate the storytelling with images of films, shows and, above all, images that
artists such as Luzzati and Manara have dedicated to the musical work by Piovani.

Symphonic concerts by great orchestras and original projects
It is the oldest and most prestigious event in the Rimini area. In its more than 60 editions it has hosted the
greatest musicians in the world including Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Riccardo Chailly, Mstislav Rostropovich,
Giuseppe Sinopoli, Renata Tebaldi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Zubin Metha, Georges Pretre, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur,
Valery Gergiev, Neville Marriner, James Conlon, Myung-Whun Chung.
In 2018 the program of the Symphonic Concerts of the Sagra is included among the great inaugural events of
the new Galli Theater which include:
November 21st and 25th: the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conductor Michele
Mariotti
November 30th and December 1st: Gala Verdi - Wagner with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio of
Turin, conductor Manlio Benzi
December 3rd and 4th: 'Pas de deux for Toes and Fingers' with the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, Svetlana
Zakharova and Vadim Repin on the violin.
In recent years, the event has expanded with several side projects where music is intertwined with other arts. In
summer with the Baroque Metamorphoses (August) and in autumn with The Sunday Concerts.

Discovering the historical heritage of the Gambalunga Civic Library
The Gambalunga Library offers the opportunity to visit the Ancient Halls in the seventeenth century Palazzo
Gambalunga, where it is possible to admire the most prestigious volumes and precious furnishings. Founded by
the jurisconsult Alessandro Gambalunga, who prepared the legacy of his "library" to the Municipality of Rimini in
his will. His achive consisted of 1438 volumes, about 2,000 printed works, with prestigious covers bearing the
emblem of the family and the name of the patron. The library, opened in 1619, qualified as public, is the first civic
library in Italy. In the seventeenth and eighteenth century rooms you can discover treasures of refined elegance
and of historical and cultural interest.

From December 2018 to mid-January 2019, every corner of the city becomes an open-air stage with a calendar of
more than 150 events of music, art, culture and entertainment that will transform Rimini into the party capital of
Italy. The spectacle offered by the illuminations, exhibitions, Christmas markets, traditional and sand-sculpted
nativity scenes, and ice rinks will ignite the atmosphere of everyone’s favourite holiday by bathing the whole city

New Productions and great performers for the first season of prose in the new theatre
The curtain rises on the first prose season in the Galli Theater, the new-rebuilt theater, where the ferocity of the
war had imposed silence and dust for decades. The billboard presents a program full of classic and contemporary
titles, revisited and staged by the most successfull directors and playwrights of the international scene.
Umberto Orsini, Luisa Ranieri, Isa Danieli, Giuliana De Sio, Marco Paolini, Davide Enia, Gioele Dix, Laura
Marinoni, Lorella Cuccarini, Marina Massironi, Filippo Dini, Anna Foglietta, Paolo Calabresi and many others.
The protagonists of the 2018/19's season are great performers of the Italian theatre, crowd favorites and
appreciated by critics, often award-winning like Alessandro Serra, Lucia Calamaro, Mariangela Gualtieri or Teatro
Sotterraneo, they will measure themselves with texts capable of investigating everyday life, a theater that is to be
placed in that area of ??art that moves our interiority.
Many new productions on the billboard this year. It starts with a prologue to the season that sees the return on
stage, in the frame of Castel Sismondo, of the play “Malatesta”, a travelling show produced by the Municipality of
Rimini on occasion of Malatesta celebrations; conceived, interpreted and directed by Gianluca Reggiani. Based
on the play “Malatesta” by Henry de Montherlant, which was performed by Arnoldo Foà in 1969, the performance
recorded a continuous sold out throughout the last spring and it will be performed from 4th October, every week
end of the month, four times a week.
The composition of the billboard is divided into sections and paths that can be crossed in complete freedom, each
with its own identity. A multifaceted path, to be carried out by entering into different disciplines and
genres, between popular narration and research as in the tradition of theater. Three subscription sections: shows
for the ABC rounds, shows also for the single round named D-other routes, while the path dedicated to the
contemporary, which will remain staged at Teatro degli Atti, offers proposals of experimental drama, closer to
research- Tracce D Contemporaneo.
For the opening of the season Toni and Peppe Servillo will be on stage on Tuesday 30th October with "La parola
canta", show-concert included in round D - other routes.

Domus in Fabula - Guided tours
All the year
Guided tours to the archaeological site of the Domus del Chirurgo and to the City Museum.
After two thousand years in the historical center of Rimini it is possible to admire the archaeological complex
called Domus del Chirurgo (the surgeon domus). A small Pompeii in the heart of the city where was discovered an
exceptional surgical-pharmaceutical kit never seen before, now on display in the adjacent City Museum. The
Domus is a Byzantine palace with large rooms enriched by polychrome mosaics: a medieval house where
Eutyches, the surgeon, lived and operated on his patients and where it is possible to admire its sepulchral
structures. To safeguard its conservation and to allow its visit to the public, a glass and steel covering was built.
The visitors will discover the anecdotes about the surgeon’s life who lived there by the guided tours. Moreover, in
the rooms of the City Museum of Rimini it is possible to visit the reproduction of the medical table and admire the
entire surgical instruments.
You can continue the museum tour to discover the works of the 14th century Rimini school and many other art
treasures.
Guided tour timetable: Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm. The visit is included in the entrance ticket. Reservation is
required.
