Santo Amato Ronconi: the Pilgrim of the stars

Musical at the Rimini Cathedral
'Santo Amato, il Pellegrino delle stelle', is a new form of stylistic and musical performance.
Dedicated to Amato Ronconi, a well-known figure from Saludecio, who made various pilgrimages as a metaphor
for Christian life and became a saint.
The work, composed by the master Fabio Masini on a poem by Silvia Bernardi, is performed by an ensemble of
24 musicians and the choir of twelve youngsters directed by Irene Placci Califano.
The intent of the event hosted in the Cathedral of Rimini, is to make known the extraordinary life of a 13th century
traveler and pilgrim, who died during the fifth pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and became a modern figure
for the originality of his story.

Painting and sculpture exhibition on the occasion of the International Day against violence against women
On the occasion of the International Day against violence against women, from 17th to 24th November there will
be an exhibition of works inspired by the cry of female artists who were inspired by the day of 25th November.
Eighteen leading artists: Noemi Della Rosa, Raffaella Baldacci, Marisa Cenci, Loredana Matteini, Adriana Chiari,
Luciana Urbinati, Valeria Piccari, Paola Santarelli, Adriana Cesarini, Angela Vigorito, Marina Colombari, Doriella
Bugli, Margherita Righini, Gabriella Rinaldi, Catia Mazza , Catherine, Giuliana Tabanellis, Erika Petrucci. Curated
by Loredana Matteini with the Association 'Artisti per caso'.
The initiative is shared among Donne Impresa Confartigianato, La Casa delle Donne and the Municipality of
Rimini.

Rimini intends to re-propose initiatives that involve the entire community on a phenomenon that, unfortunately,

The event will start from the Arch of Augustus, with concentration at 4.00 p.m. and departure at 4.30 p.m., and
then walk the streets of the historic center in Piazza Tre Martiri where the final event will take place.

Ceramics Exhibition

57th Exhibition by "Fondazione En.A.I.P. S. Zavatta"
Castel Sismondo hosts the 57th exhibition of ceramics by the En.A.I.P. S. Zavatta.
On show the works of 44 artists. The exhibited works, about 200, are vases, bottles, plates, sculptures and panels
in majolica, terracotta, glaze and raku coating.
With its sinuous and elegant shape, the bottle is a cylinder which, when stretched upwards, becomes a tapered
neck. Vaguely anthropomorphic, vertical presence on horizontal surfaces, the bottle has been able to fascinate
great artists.

Festival del Mondo Antico: Le cose di Sigismondo

The inventory of the Sigismondo Pandolfo's assets drawn up by Isotta on October 13th, 1468
After Sigismondo's death, his wife Isotta degli Atti fulfilled a law that in Rimini required widows to draw up the list
of the deceased's property within 5 days of his death. So, on 13th October 1468, Isotta accompanied the notary in
a survey of her husband's last home: Castel Sismondo. The "Isotta's inventory" is a precious and unique proof
about the Malatesta court told through the things belonged to Sigismondo.

Seventh edition of the “Concert for life” at the Palacongressi in Rimini
The 'Concert for Life' is back, promoted by the Rotary club.
It is the seventh edition of an event that has given substance to an extraordinary idea: acting together to support
research on Huntington's chorea and, more generally, on genetic diseases.
The result is very concrete: up to now 89 thousand euros have been raised and destined to finance scholarships.
Senator Elena Cattaneo, a researcher of world-wide value who will be present at the evening this year too, is the
project coordinator.
The famous artist Gladys Rossi, soprano, will perform together with the baritone Maurizio Leoni and the pianist
Davide Cavalli.
Patrizia Deitos will present the evening.
The program, with its arias and duets, will focus on four female figures who have a fundamental role especially in
the works of Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti and Giacomo Puccini.
A musical journey to discover the female human soul, with its surprising facets and its dramatic contradictions,
through works such as La Traviata, Rigoletto, L'Elisir d'amore and La Bohème.

Double painting exhibition by Enrico Lombardi at the City Museum
The world represented by Monica Spada is clear and patiently painted; nevertheless it doesn't lose its magic,
evocation and enigma. Her painting is like a resurrection, a dawn that does not know the night from which it rises
in order to exist in its new purity.
The most recent work by Raffaella Vaccari can be completely inscribed in the archaeological universe. In fact,
her untranslatable golden signs seem to emerge by a patient digging work that has dissected them from the
bowels of the earth.
The painter Enrico Lombardi, curator of the exhibition, presents the conversation of two different poetic worlds
that communicate with each other in the tension created by the relationship between these differences.

Couple at the theater and in real life, the ballet étoile Svetlana Zakharova and the violin virtuoso Vadim Repin are
together on stage in an exciting show where choreographic pieces of the classical repertoire and music pages by
Mendelssohn, Paganini, Ravel, Part and many others will offer an original and exciting space for the meeting of
the two stars. “Pas de Deux for Toes and Fingers” is the goal of a long artistic research, entrusted to the
musicians of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra and to the étoiles and dancers of the Bolshoi Theater of
Moscow and the Mariinsky Theater of Saint Petersburg.

Symphonic concerts by great orchestras and original projects
It is the oldest and most prestigious event in the Rimini area. In its more than 60 editions it has hosted the
greatest musicians in the world including Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Riccardo Chailly, Mstislav Rostropovich,
Giuseppe Sinopoli, Renata Tebaldi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Zubin Metha, Georges Pretre, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur,
Valery Gergiev, Neville Marriner, James Conlon, Myung-Whun Chung.
In 2018 the program of the Symphonic Concerts of the Sagra is included among the great inaugural events of
the new Galli Theater which include:

Live from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan - the opening night
“Attila” is a work by Giuseppe Verdi, a libretto by Temistocle Solera based on the tragedy “Attila, König der
Hunnen” by Zacharias Werner.
Francesco Maria Piave made some changes to the libretto at the request of Verdi.
The show is broadcasted live from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Riccard Chailly will perform Attila by inserting in
the first act, between duet and trio, five bars composed by Rossini when he directed the opera in Paris in 1865, in
private form.

In Rimini, twice a year, in May and December, artisans, designers, creatives and visionaries come together in a
single container: it’s Matrioska, the itinerant lab store, a container for artist that produce unique pieces made by
hand, which inhabits the forgotten places of the city.

An event that promotes the use of extra-virgin olive oil from the Rimini area with tastings guided by experts.
An aperitif with food combinations exclusively based on locally produced extra virgin olive oil.
The purpose of the evening, enlivened by music and DJ sets, is the knowledge of the organoleptic and gustatory
characteristics of the Riminese extra virgin olive oil.
Organization by CNA Rimini in collaboration with the Frantoiani Oleari Association of Emilia Romagna and the
Association Mia.
For the occasion a record “bruschetta” (toasted bread) will be presented, 10 meters long, made and offered by
the Forno della Vecchia Pescheria.

Performance by Miramare schools for Christmas celebrations
'Stand up, Joseph! 'is the title of the 2018 edition of the Miramare living nativity scene.
The performance will take place through the streets of the neighborhood with the students, parents and teachers
of the “Istituto Comprensivo Miramare” and of the kindergarten "Don Domenico Masi", in collaboration with the
scout group "Lupetti" and the parish of Miramare.
The route retraces the journey of the Three Wise Men. In the footsteps of Joseph of Nazareth, the Living Nativity
of Miramare challenges "difficult times", to relaunch a message of hope.
Start at 3:00 p.m. at the private parking place next to the post office of Miramare and then finish inside the Parish
Church of the Sacro Cuore di Gesù.

ensembles – like the one punctuated by onomatopoeia at the end of the first act – are just a few of the gourmet
dishes on this hilarious Rossini menu. It has been 36 years since L’italiana in Algeri was last seen at the Liceu.

Celebrations for the centenary of Federico Fellini's birth
The Municipality of Rimini and its Film Library (Cineteca) have organized a rich program of events to
commemorate and celebrate Federico Fellini, starting from October 4th.
25 years after the death of the great director, a long journey will begin, full of events, until 2020, the centenary of
the director's birth, that the city of Rimini will celebrate with the inauguration of Fellini Museum.
The first part of the review "The movies that I wrote", 15 films (projected in 35 mm), will start on October 4th, at
the Film Library. A conference will also be organized to deepen and study the Fellini's themes (Wednesday 24th
October at 9.30 a.m.). To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fellini's death, a double appointment has been
organized: the presentation of Gianfranco Miro Gori's book “Rimini in the cinema” and the screening of the film 'I
Vitelloni' introduced by the director Susanna Nicchiarelli (Wednesday, October 31st at the Cinema Fulgor).
On November 14th, Peter Gonzales - protagonist of the film - and Francesca Fabbri Fellini will present the
screening of 'Rome', on the occasion of the opening night of the 11th edition of Amarcort Film Festival, at the
Fulgor Cinema.
On Wednesday 5th December at the Fulgor Cinema, “Fellini - Zavoli – Rimini” will be presented, a project of a
documentary under construction. The program also includes two literary presentations that will also be held at the
Fulgor Cinema: the presentation of the book “8 ½ Federico Fellini”, released in 2018 by Roberto
Chiesi (November 13th) and the preview of the book “Tre passi nel genio” by Ottavio Cirio Zanetti (December
11th).

Event for the world's longest New Year celebrations
The Pro Loco Association “Miramare d'Amare”, on the occasion of the Christmas holidays, sets up a themed
village consisting of wooden houses, nativity scenes from around the world, Christmas trees and children's games
along the avenue Oliveti, from the train station to viale Regina Margherita.
Children can deliver Christmas letters to Santa Claus who every year comes from the North Pole to bring them
gifts.
Events and shows for families as well as an exhibition of local products will take place during the weekends
starting from 8th December and 4th, 5th and 6th January 2019.

Discovering the historical heritage of the Gambalunga Civic Library
The Gambalunga Library offers the opportunity to visit the Ancient Halls in the seventeenth century Palazzo
Gambalunga, where it is possible to admire the most prestigious volumes and precious furnishings. Founded by
the jurisconsult Alessandro Gambalunga, who prepared the legacy of his "library" to the Municipality of Rimini in
his will. His achive consisted of 1438 volumes, about 2,000 printed works, with prestigious covers bearing the
emblem of the family and the name of the patron. The library, opened in 1619, qualified as public, is the first civic
library in Italy. In the seventeenth and eighteenth century rooms you can discover treasures of refined elegance
and of historical and cultural interest.

This year the exhibition will have a prestigious location: the rooms of Castel Sismondo.
The theme of the exhibition will be "Traveling, meeting, narrating".
The journey as a necessary movement to get out of oneself, one's own ideologies, one's own preconceptions and
meet the other, another culture, another way of living the faith, another country.
Every meeting with the other is a source of treasure and mutual growth.
Meeting to understand not only what I can give, but also what I can receive.
In this sense, as Saramago writes, "The journey never ends. Only travelers end. And they too can be prolonged in

150 events with high-quality music, culture and the spirit of Christmas
From December 2018 to mid-January 2019, every corner of the city becomes an open-air stage with a calendar of
more than 150 events of music, art, culture and entertainment that will transform Rimini into the party capital of
Italy. The spectacle offered by the illuminations, exhibitions, Christmas markets, traditional and sand-sculpted
nativity scenes, and ice rinks will ignite the atmosphere of everyone’s favourite holiday by bathing the whole city
in a new and welcoming light.
The highlight, as usual, will be on 31st December with the widespread new year’s eve performances between the
seafront and the old town, from the amazing live concert in Piazzale Fellini, to the many events in the heart of the
city.
