With all of these generous $5,000 donations, FSS was able to obtain 2 new vehicles to add to our transportation fleet. Pedro Cruz Serves Up Smiles & Good Eats for 13 Years! wonderful meals,” raved member Ann Soderman. The 46 years that Pedro has spent cooking has earned him high praise from all who have tasted his food. Pedro was born in Cuba and moved to Miami with his family when he was just 9 years old. At the age of 18, Pedro married his wife of 46 years Debra. He regards her as the “wonderful, smart, and talented” mother of his two daughters, Yolanda and Jessica. The same year they were married, Pedro started his first job working in the kitchen at North Miami General Hospital where he worked for 12 years before the hospital bought a larger facility, Memorial Miramar Hospital. He spent the first 26 years of his career with Fayette Senior Services (FSS), a this company. Dear Volunteer, You Make a Difference! The Accidental Volunteer Written By: Carrie Bittinger backyard. At just 16 years old, Nancy met her husband Jerry, who was 2 years older than she, on her birthday. She went to the local hangout to celebrate, sat down with a group of her friends, and there was Jerry. He drove her home that night and the rest was history. From Our Kitchen To Yours Cheese Relish Enjoy this delicious recipe to try at home from the kitchen of the Fayette Senior Services’ family! Ingredients • 10 oz Swiss cheese, finely grated (about 3 1/2 cups) • 1 cup minced or mild banana peppers • 4 tablespoons sour cream • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated black pepper • 1/4 teaspoon crushed dried red chile flakes • 2 tablespoons minced fresh chives • 2 tablespoons drained capers, soaked in fresh water for 1 minute, drained again Directions • In a medium mixing bowl, combine Swiss cheese, minced peppers, sour cream, black pepper, chile flakes, chives, and capers until evenly blended • Cover and chill for 2 hours up to overnight • Serve on crackers, bread, or anything that sounds good to you! Rules, Regulations & Cancellation Policies Register early! Many of our classes are extremely popular and fill up quickly! All classes have a class-size limit that varies with each class. All classes – free or fee-based – require registration unless otherwise noted. Any applicable fees must be paid at the time of registration, or you are not considered registered for the class. REGISTRATION: Please stop by the Fayetteville or Peachtree City location or call the Center receptionist to register for classes. All fees are payable in advance – cash, check, or credit card. TRIPS: Trips are for FSS members only. Payments must be made at the time of reservations. Payments of cash or checks are strongly encouraged. Reservations for mailed-in checks will not be made until the check has been received by Fayette Senior Services. For any questions, please contact Morgan Lanier at 770-461-0813. See trip schedules for refund policy. CANCELLATIONS: Fayette Senior Services reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient registration or at the instructor’s request. If cancellation is necessary, anyone already registered will be notified and receive a full credit to their account. Please note that some classes have specific registration deadlines. WAITING LIST: All classes, activities, trips, and special events are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class or activity is full, you may be placed on a waiting list. REFUNDS: Refunds will be issued if registration is cancelled by the participant up to 5 working days prior to the start date. Any event costs incurred will be deducted from the requested refund in addition to a 10% administration fee. No refunds awarded after that deadline. Refunds will be issued in the form of an FSS credit towards future program registration or membership dues.
