Introduction The Dragonfly Africa Group has been involved in providing a wide range of services across a broad spectrum of tourism for more than 33 years. Our main business is incoming tourism from all over the world in the form of individual travellers, groups, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. We are well known in the industry for our creativity and high levels of service. With Cape Town recently voted Best Food City in the World by Condé Nast Traveler, we have produced this restaurant booklet as a guide to our clients and visitors of what is on offer in various areas - where to go for great meals from an intimate dinner for two, a casual lunch with family and friends, or venues that will cater for groups of a hundred or more. Whilst we have strived to make it as comprehensive and as current as possible, part of the charm of cities such as Cape Town is that change is constant, and there is always somewhere new, somewhere hotter, hipper or better and it is in discovering these that one uncovers the real character of the city. With this in mind we would value your feedback in sharing your experiences with us of the establishments listed in this booklet, both good and bad, but also any of the more special and memorable experiences you may have discovered for yourself along the way. We hope that it will be of assistance to you. We wish you many happy dining experiences and safe travels. Southern Suburbs, Constantia and Cape Point The area stretches south east from Table Mountain all the way through to the magnificent Cape of Good Hope, or Cape Point, first navigated by Bartholomew Dias in 1488. Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs lie at the base of Table Mountain National Park that runs all the way from Signal Hill to Cape Point, creating an impressive backdrop that infuses the mostly residential southern suburbs with a natural leafiness, in most part due to the frequent blanket of clouds that tend to hang over the mountains, and the relative shelter from the wind. Extensive gardens, such as Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, pretty shopping areas like Cavendish Street in Claremont, and Wynberg village; the cosmopolitan high street of Observatory, and attractions like Mostert’s Mill in Mowbray, the Baxter Theatre in Rosebank and the Irma Stern Museum, make this part of Cape Town rather attractive. Constantia is home to the Cape’s oldest winelands and includes some of our most renowned wine estates and numerous award-winning restaurants. 44
