Easter Visit to Malawi 2021 Thursday 1st April – Wednesday 15th April Dear Friend of Mbedza Projects Support, I am writing to you about the costs of the visit to Malawi with Khudza Mitima CIC. Khudza Mitima CIC provides opportunities for UK citizens to visit Malawi and promote global citizenship. On this trip we are offering a package that includes time to visit and get involved in our projects as well as some time to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of Malawi, including the lake. The estimated cost is £890. This price has been calculated based on the assumption of around 10 people going and current 2020 prices. However, we will need to adjust this price once we have heard from our partners in Malawi regarding 2021 prices. Please be aware that the final price will be adjusted depending on the final number of attendees. The kwacha/pound exchange rate can vary and the final price is determined by the rate we get when the final bills are paid. What this includes: Accommodation (£260) • All your accommodation assuming you are staying all 11 nights (supplement required for single room) in Zomba, Liwonde and Lake Malawi • Most breakfasts Carbon Tax (£50) • Your carbon tax to mitigate your flight contributing towards the stove project and the tree project Vehicle hire, drivers and fuel in Malawi (£330) • All journeys with excellent drivers and fuel (vehicle hire is costly in Malawi) Khudza Mitima Fee (£250) • Welcome pack (including a copy of ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’) • An informative guide to your trip • A completely planned itinerary – just sit back and enjoy the experience! • A language/culture booklet and a Chichewa language training session in Malawi • First Aid training for 2 members of the group and first aid kits • Pre-visit orientation • Malawi staff support during your trip • A contingency fund • A boat ride on Lake Malawi to feed the fish eagles • A contribution towards the Songani Choir Festival, which you will be in attendance and have the option to join in with! Once we have the minimum number required we will advise you to make your flight booking. We realise some of you may need to use your air travel vouchers from the 2020 cancelled trip (due to COVID-19). We may decide to make one group booking through a travel agent for those without air travel vouchers. Payment Schedule We will be in touch in October with a payment schedule.
