RAVEL & MESSAGE FROM BID EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR As a region that has received many tourism accolades, we are confident that Cape Breton would be the ideal location for the 2020 DAC Conference. Your delegates will have an opportunity to journey to one of North America’s first multi-cultural societies, where ancestry is treasured and our roots deep. Our objective with this bid document is to outline our vision and goals to make DAC Conference 2020 one of the best experiences ever. In addition to longstanding music history, culture and tremendous community support, Cape Breton Island has a proven track record in hosting world-class events including the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the 2016 International Indigenous Tourism Conference, and the 2016 Travel Media Association of Canada Conference, to name a few. These events were successful due to strong partnerships between organizations in the CBRM who have a vested interest in bringing events and conferences to Sydney and areas. We want your delegates to enjoy our delicious cuisine, Celtic music, and unique cultural experiences while showcasing East Coast hospitality at its highest level. Our Bid Committee believes this event will exceed all expectations of DAC and we hope we have the chance to showcase why we use the slogan, “Your Heart Will Never Leave.” Cape Breton Island is easy to find but hard to forget once you have experienced all of what we have to offer as an event destination. We hope to host you in Downtown Sydney! Sincerely, Michelle Wilson Executive Director Sydney Downtown Development Association michelle@downtownsydney.ca 902.304.9996 902.562.3399 1
