Dear Scout Leaders, Outdoor activities are integral to meeting the needs of Scouts and their families while also providing many of the most appealing features of the Scouting program. Activities and events are planned to match the desires of Scouts at all age levels and abilities with opportunities to advance in rank and have fun. We are very proud of the exciting programs the Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) camps have to offer. We are excited about launching our 2021-2022 Camp Program Guide, and we hope you are ready to take advantage of all of our new and improved programs and upcoming opportunities. Scouts and leaders can earn their Professional Association of Diving CAMP CHERRY VALLEY Instructors (PADI) certification during their weeklong stay at Camp Cherry Valley. The world class opportunity to dive in the crystal clear waters SCUBA PROGRAM of Catalina Island is sought after by many. CUB RESIDENT CAMP Your Cub Scout adventure starts here. The Cub Scout Resident Camp is a premier destination for Cub Scouts throughout the United States. Our resident camp offers a unique fun-filled experience that creates a lifelong bond with Camp Cherry Valley. Our highly trained staff will provide an action-packed program full of advancement and adventure. HUBERT EATON SCOUT RESERVATION (formerly Forest Lawn Scout Reservation) Located near Lake Arrowhead at over 5,000 feet of elevation and with over 2,000 acres of pristine forest in the San Bernardino Mountains. CAMP BIG HORN Camp Bighorn at Circle X Ranch is the Reservation’s home to our Scouts BSA summer resident camp program. The camp offers comfortable accommodations on our highly sought after tent camp decks and a wide variety of activities for Scouts. Programs include, shooting sport venues, a swimming pool, craft and nature programs, horseback riding, a climbing wall, a high ropes C.O.P.E. course, an astronomy program, and the new 1,100 foot Zip Line spanning our entire canyon, give it a try! ADVANCED CAMPER EXPERIENCE (ACE) This is a stand-alone program at camp Big Horn. This week-long high adventure program is geared towards campers 14-years and older who have a basic fitness level. ACE gives older Scouts, who do not need to take merit badge classes, a chance to come to camp and participate in older scout activities. We also encourage adult leaders, looking for a bit more adventure, to join in the program. Some activities include; horseback riding, outback camping, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, rappelling, and climbing. Join the ACE Crew for an adventure you won’t forget! STAFF / C.I.T. Staff - Working at camp is much more than a summer job, it is the foundation for a successful life. This is all done under a structure of Scouting, a tried and true method for inspiring youth. Staffers will learn how to effectively manage and prioritize their personal and professional time. They will develop a work ethic focused on the importance of service. They will learn how to work as part of a team, and then how to help lead that team to success. Counselor In Training (CIT) - Camp Big Horn understands that ethical, hardworking young people are the key to a successful camping season. As a result, the camp administration is always looking for Scouts who want to return after their week at camp to be a counselor-in-training. This program allows Scouts to volunteer as a staff member for a week or two to see if they would like to become a full-time staff member the following year. 19 20
CAMP POLLOCK amp Pollock is the Reservation’s home to our C Outdoor Education program and winter camp. This camp offers tent camping, dorm lodging, lake activities, climbing wall , dual Zip Line over the lake, indoor climbing wall, swimming pool, a museum of camp history, a sports activity field, and a conference center. Camp Pollock is operated year-round and is available for private groups of all sizes. WINTER CAMP Want to get away during the winter months and enjoy a weekend full of winter fun? Camp Pollock at Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation will give you an opportunity for your Pack or Troop to experience the best of what outdoor winter fun has to offer. Stay warm and cozy in our 3, 000 sq. ft. lodges, eat warm meals in our 5, 000 sq. ft. conference center, challenge your skills on the 30 ft. indoor climbing wall, and gear up for possible snow days and take a ride down our sled hill. These are just a few of the activities you will enjoy at Winter Camp.
