2020 ANNUAL REPORT DOWNTOWN EXCELSIOR PARTNERSHIP, INC. Downtown Excelsior Springs is the FIRST and FOREVER heart of our community! Prepared by Lyndsey 2020 Nationally M. LOOKING FORWARD... 2020 was a year like we have never experienced before in Downtown Excelsior Springs. What started off like a year that was going to be something really special, quickly transitioned into a year of shutdowns and gloomy times ahead. However, while many parts of 2020 were extremely scary times for our small business community and our revitalization efforts of Downtown Excelsior Springs, there were also some amazing things that occurred and continued despite the uncertainty of our future economy. WWW.VISITEXCELSIOR.COM We continued to see private investment occur to our historic buildings, totaling just under $1 Million. We were able to capitalize on regional tourism to our community as we began to reopen. Our overnight accommodations rebounded extremely well considering the length of our shutdown and occupancy limitations, which in turn resulted in spending within our local businesses. As you will see throughout this report, our numbers were pretty good considering the circumstances. As an organization, DEP remained creative so that we were better able to support our local businesses by making event modifications to fall within guidelines and being able to assist our business owners with the necessary pivoting moves to ensure their businesses stayed relevant and supported during the difficult times we faced. While there are an abundance of reasons we would never want to see another year like 2020, we believe that there were several good things that occurred during the year that will allow us to prosper and grow further as a community and we are looking forward to continuing our efforts to make Downtown Excelsior Springs and the community the ideal vacation destination. Sincerely, Lyndsey M. Baxter Executive Director Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc. DOWNTOWN EXCELSIOR PARTNERSHIP 2020 ANNUAL REPORT 01
