Introducing a Brand New Look!
The tear drop is a very common quilling shape seen throughout our designs and is reminiscent
of lotus flower petals. The lotus flower has always been an integral part of the Quilling Card brand
identity for its deeply rooted symbolism in both Ancient Egyptian art and Vietnamese culture.
In Upper Egypt the lotus was representative of the sun and rebirth. As the national flower of Vietnam
it symbolizes purity, love, and enlightenment making the lotus a symbol of divine beauty. We are
excited to have a fresh new look with a logo that truly reflects the Quilling Card brand.

Q uilling is the art of rolling, coiling and shaping small strips of paper to create a cohesive
three-dimensional design and has been practiced for centuries. Historians have been
able to date the art form back to Ancient Egyptian times where crafters would use a
bird’s feather (quill) as the tool to coil the paper upon. Quilling most notably made its mark
throughout the Western world. During the Renaissance nuns and monks would trim gold gilded
paper from books which they would then quill into decorative designs to adorn religious objects.
This was used in place of working with costly gold filigree. In later years quilling grew to be a
leisurely pastime of affluent women throughout Europe. Women would practice quilling to adorn
household decor such as picture frames, baskets, and jewelry boxes. Quilling eventually found its
way to America with the Pilgrims. Today, Quilling Card has become the premier source of preserving
and sharing this beautiful art form, striving to keep it alive and flourishing.
Quilling Card has been incredibly fortunate to train and employ over 450 quillers who handcraft each of our designs in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In 2015, Quilling Card was honored to become a certified member of the Fair Trade Federation (FTF). The FTF focuses on maintaining a code of values for proper treatment of employees and they encourage ethically responsible business practices all over the world. Many of the artists which Quilling Card employs come from the surrounding rural areas of Ho Chi Minh City. Most have had only limited access to education making it difficult to find employment that offers sustainable wages and essential benefits. At Quilling Card we offer training to learn the art of quilling, employment advancement opportunities, full benefits, and wages that are 20%-25% above the national average. This gives men and women the chance to adequately provide for themselves and their families while building a career — an opportunity that can be hard to come by. The transparency of our business practices and our membership with the FTF reassures our consumers they are buying a product that is free from any negative stigmas commonly associated with items that are handmade overseas. The cumulative passion we all have for this lost art is truly the driving force behind Quilling Card.
