BACK TO THE INDEX Steel trellis frame The steel trellis frame is central to the character and agility of the Svartpilen 125. Made from high-strength steel using hydro-formed tubes and robot welding, the frame is strong but also lightweight, ensuring nimble handling and detailed feedback to the rider. Designed with specific flex characteristics, the frame works in harmony with the WP Suspension to offer a comfortable and confident feel, combined with a tight turning circle for ease of use in urban environments. WP front fork The WP APEX 43 mm open cartridge forks are made to exacting standards, ensuring the highest level of quality and craftsmanship. The open cartridge design contributes to the low overall weight of the Svartpilen 125 by using fewer components than most closed cartridge systems while also allowing for ease of maintenance. Tested and set up specifically for the Svartpilen 125, the front suspension offers dynamic handling while keeping the rider comfortable and confident when navigating busy urban environments. BACK TO THE INDEX Swingarm Made from a lightweight alloy, the pin jointed swingarm ensures exceptional durability and reliability. With carefully calculated rigidity and dimensions, the design in combination with the WP Monoshock offers advanced stability and predictable handling. WP rear shock Fitted directly to the swingarm, the WP APEX Monoshock features a progressive spring design. This means the rear shock is softer at the start of the stroke soaking up small bumps effortlessly and ensuring maximum comfort. As the stroke progresses, the shock becomes progressively stiffer allowing the Svartpilen 125 to absorb larger bumps and hits. Pre-load can be adjusted when carrying a pillion or additional luggage. Rear wheel travel is 142 mm Triple clamp and handlebar Made from forged aluminium, the triple clamp uses specifically calculated flex characteristics to deliver advanced suspension functionality resulting in agile and comfortable handling. Additionally, fitted with offroad style handlebars and risers, the Svartpilen 125 hints at a sense of adventure with an upright and remarkably comfortable riding position. BACK TO THE INDEX Brakes Ensuring confident and controlled braking, the Svartpilen 125 is fitted with a hydraulically operated and radially mounted 4 piston brake caliper at the front of the machine and a single piston floating brake caliper at the rear. The calipers are manufactured to the highest standards by ByBre and in combination with the 320 mm front and 230 mm rear perforated steel discs deliver controllable and confident braking performance. Additionally, the Svartpilen 125 is fitted with a state-of-the-art Bosch ABS system. The tried and tested anti-lock braking system ensures the highest level of safety under braking in varying conditions. The system can be set to supermoto mode, which disengages the ABS functionality on the rear wheel. More advanced rider’s then have control to lock up the rear wheel if needed. The design additionally incorporates premium features and finishes with subtle highlights such as LED front and rear lights. The headlight features an LED daytime running light while the rear light is integrated into the rear end bodywork of the Svartpilen 125. BACK TO THE INDEX Engine Powering the Svartpilen 125 is a modern EURO 5 compliant fuel injected, liquid cooled, single-cylinder 4-stroke 125 cc twin overhead camshaft engine. The remarkably compact engine provides impressive power and thanks to the balancer shaft it delivers the highest levels of smoothness. The engine is equipped with an electric starter powered by a 12V/8Ah battery and it achieves its peak power of 11 kW (15 hp) @ 9,500 rpm. Cylinder head The cylinder head is made up of two overhead camshafts and cam levers. This design not only provides exceptional reliability, but also offers low friction thanks to the ultra-hard carbon coating of the cam levers, which improves performance. Piston Made from lightweight aluminium, the piston produces very little inertia and as a result transmits very little vibration to ensure a smooth ride. With a 58 mm bore and 47.2 mm stroke, the piston is housed in a Nicasil-coated cylinder, resulting in low friction and top-level durability and reliability. Gearbox Designed for urban use, the six-speed close-ratio gearbox provides smooth and easy shifting for the rider by using low-friction components. With the ample torque provided by the engine, the correct combination of power and control can be found for all urban riding scenarios. Svartpilen 125 2021 I Media Information 11
