District of Western PA NEWSLETTER JULY — AUGUST 2019 Wishing you a Happy Mothers Day! As you can see from the letter head, we are now known as Alliance Women. We are no longer Great Commission Women and an auxiliary of the Alliance. We are now included with Church Ministries. Our theme for this year is SET FREE. Alliance Women are not “capsulized” any longer. We are ALL women of the Alliance! We will be experiencing many new and exciting changes in the next few years. This year, we are invited on a journey to a deeper spiritual life through exploring Jesus’ invitation to be SET FREE (John 8:36). We invite ALL women of every church to “be on mission together” as women of the Alliance family. Our National Director, Jen Vogel, is not asking us to join or form a group. Rather, she invites us into a sweet sisterhood directed by the Holy Spirit and character- ized by love. Connecting Women for Kingdom Impact invites Alliance women to open their hearts, eyes, and desires to connect with women both locally and globally. Look around you……are there ladies you could share missions with in your church? We have been SET FREE from our small groups to reach out and expand our love and knowledge of missions so others can catch the vision. This is such an exciting time to “connect” with the younger ladies. You will be hearing more about these exciting steps in the future. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Page 4 July — August 2019 Newsletter EMPOWER Empower, Equipping Women World-wide was introduced at Retreat by Dr. Wanda Walborn, one of our own Alliance women, who wrote the curriculum for the women’s training course. The May 2019 newsletter can be found at www.empowerww.org. along with more detailed information. This course is a very powerful tool to help women discover their spiritual gifts, understand God’s purpose for their lives, and build friendships in and outside the ministry, while drawing hearts to a closer walk with Jesus. ICE BREAKER Below is a great little game to get to know the ladies in your group! Pick up some M&M’s at your local store, pass them around, and have everyone share something about themselves depending on the color M&M they choose. Don’t forget to eat them once you answer - that’s a rule! INDEPENDENCE DAY Thank you to all men and women who serve and have served to defend our great country! Take time to thank someone who serves or has served for their willingness, selflessness, sacrifice, and bravery.
