DISCOVER THE WONDERS OF
THE BRAZILIAN CLIMATE CITY
Pure air, beautiful scenery, friendly people. Besides the natural refuges, the city enchants with its
architecture and the traditions of the many people that enrich the local culture, as the Germans, Poles,
Italians, Indigenous, African, Portuguese, Arab, Swiss and French.

With an economy based on farming, Palmeira is located in the Campos Gerais region, with an estimated
population of 33,757 according to IBGE. The town borders Ponta Grossa, Campo Largo, Porto Amazonas,
Lapa, Balsa Nova, São João do Triunfo and Teixeira Soares.

Among the vast palm grove that existed in the municipality, one stood out by the height and referred to the
place, thus giving rise to the name of the city. At a time when tuberculosis did not have timely treatment yet,

Palmeira's subtropical climate was indicated as a remedy. Thus, entire families moved to local farms as a
therapeutic resource, which gave the city the title of "Natural Sanatorium" or "Brazilian Climate City".

If the tourist looks for culture, besides physical and mental rest, Palmeira is a destination that cannot be
lacking in the itinerary of the trip.

Capelinhas de Vieiras
Organized in the form of a large cross lying down, 14 chapels made of stone make up the Sanctuary of
Senhor Bom Jesus do Monte, located in Vieiras, a community located 35 km from Palmeira. The project was
designed by the Portuguese Bento Luís da Costa, in recognition of the graces received during the 50 years in
which he lived in the community. The buildings refer to the Portuguese shrine of the same name, located in
the city of Braga, visited by Costa as a boy.

Memorial Colônia Cecília
In 1890, Italian journalist and agronomist Giovanni Rossi founded the only experimental community in
Latin America based on anarchist premises. In his eight totems and a small wooden house, the memorial

GASTRONOMY

If after knowing the beauties of the town and you get starving, do not forget to try the Pão no Bafo, also
known as Pão no Bafo and Pão de Bafo Russo. Inserted in the Palmeirense cuisine in 1878 by the Russian
and German immigrants, the recipe has as basic ingredients the pork, cabbage and dough steamed. To
accompany, Gengibirra is a great option, a drink that takes ginger as a base and is still produced today. Both
the bread and the drink are listed as immaterial patrimony of the Municipality of Palmeira. Two irresistible
flavors.
