As the NT’s largest VET provider, we offer contemporary, future-focused courses including certificates I–IV and diploma qualifications. With recognition of existing skills and flexible study options, you could be qualified sooner than you think. We offer more than 200 VET courses in 17 different industries, including aquaculture, automotive, business, carpentry, commercial cookery, conservation and land management, music, community services, early childhood education and care, electro-technology, hairdressing, horticulture, information technology, work health and safety, and more. Our VET for Secondary Schools (VSS) program offers secondary school students the opportunity to develop employability skills while receiving their secondary education. Research Research is central to the purpose of Charles Darwin University. We are established as an exciting and progressive research-intensive university with a regional focus, closely tied to the needs of the NT and Australia’s neighbours to the north. The distinctive characteristics of the Territory present researchers and research students at CDU with unique experiences and opportunities. We have developed cross-disciplinary research teams, as well as partnerships and collaborative relationships with external agencies to build world-class research capability. Art and music CDU art gallery and collection CDU plays an important role in the visual arts community of the Territory. Our School of Creative Arts and Humanities fosters local, national and international talent, with students benefiting from the constant flow of professionals drawn to the NT for creative inspiration. Our art collection and art gallery, situated in the Chancellery building (Orange 12) at Casuarina campus, is a world-class facility that presents a dynamic public exhibitions program accompanied by floor talks and other events. The CDU art collection has more than 3,000 items, with a collecting focus on contemporary works on paper, painting, and sculpture by Northern Territory artists. A significant proportion of the art collection includes an archive of Northern Editions prints, which represents one of the largest and historically significant Australian Indigenous print collections in the world. It is named in honour of former CDU Chancellor Dr Nan Giese, who was a great contributor to the NT arts community and CDU. The gallery’s exhibitions are a blend of visual, multimedia, print and sculptural artworks, and celebrate the talents of the Territory’s home-grown artists.
