Assistant Directors B arbara and I recently drove to western Many of you have made your hotel reservations South Dakota pulling a trailer to pick up for the NM / CO Rally, and some of you are still two GL 1800 bikes. We were not sure trying to decide if you are going. The good news how far we were going to be driving the first is the District Team was able to get the room rate day, so had not committed to making a hotel at the Courtyard by Marriott for $99/night plus reservation until we knew approximately where tax. After our recent trip to South Dakota, this we were going to end up. Our goal was to be is an unbelievably low motel room rate. (Wish able to meet up with Barbara’s brother and his we could have found a motel room at that rate.) wife who were traveling from southern So, if you are on the fence trying to decide if $99 California to eastern South Dakota and were is a good price, I did some checking comparable hoping our paths would cross to have a meal hotel rates in Santa Fe and the prices range from together. Her brother told us to drive as far as $217 to $399 per night. So now, you need to hop we could the first day to better our chances of off the fence and make that hotel reservation for being able to meet up with them. Little did we the NM / CO Rally before August 12 when the know how true that was going to be. We found rates will go up to the regular rates at the out many people are traveling, and hotels were Courtyard by Marriott. full. We expanded our radius of towns further out to make our hotel reservation and it was midnight by the time we arrived at our hotel. Looking forward to seeing you in Santa Fe in The good thing, the next morning we only had August. 168 miles to drive to our destination and were able to meet with Barbara’s brother and his wife, arriving 20 minutes apart at our meeting location. 5
