Our program has developed into a multiple team, multiple rink program in the synchronized discipline of Figure Skating. Our teams are meeting the needs of many skaters providing a pathway from the basic developmental levels through to International representation. This year will again provide an atmosphere of encouragement and challenge where skaters will be empowered with passion for excellence in training, to facilitate success in achieving their goals. Combining our years of experience gained from skating and coaching Synchronized Skating our coaches will seek to enrich our skaters in knowledge, creativity and professionalism to make our 2020 routines a great success. Team divisions Southern Sky Synchronized P/L will utilise the following development and ISA (Ice Skating Australia) divisions seeking to place every registered skater into a team group: • Development Teams – Local performance opportunities are given to the development teams once they are ready: o SSS Tots: 3yrs – 6yrs (depending on ability) o SSS Aussie Skate: 5yrs – 12yrs (depending on height and ability) o SSS Teens:11yrs – 18 yrs o SSS New Adults: 18 yrs plus • National Championship Teams – Competing at State and National level. o Basic Novice o Advanced Novice o Mixed Age o Junior o Adult b. Team selection The director adhering to ISA team composition requirements and the advice of the coaches will make team selection and skater placement each year for the competitive season. Teams will be registered with Ice Skating Australia in May of each competitive year. Criteria for skater placement into teams will include but not be limited to: • ISA Test level (based on the requirements for each division) • Date of birth (teams are based on ages at 1st July each year) • Height • Skating skills assessment • Fitness assessment • Attendance record 3
SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED P/L WEBSITE: www.southernskysynchronized.com.au EMAIL: info@southernskysynchronized.com.au 2. EXPECTATIONS AND OBLIGATIONS OF SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED TEAM MEMBERS a. Training All skaters are expected to attend each on-ice and off-ice training session on time unless prevented by injury or illness (a doctor’s certificate may be required). Any other absence should be notified to the team coach or director in advance and arrangements made to make up the missed work prior to the next training session. Development Teams will train at Penrith Ice Palace on Sunday afternoons: • Aussie Skate, Teens and New adults: o On Ice 2.15pm – 3.45pm and Off Ice 4pm – 4.30pm (Fitness exercises) • SSS Tots class: o On Ice 2.15pm -3pm and Off Ice 3pm – 4pm (Games and afternoon tea). Australian National teams will train during 2020 at the following times: o Basic Novice - Penrith Ice Palace – Saturday 5.45am – 7.30pm o Advanced Novice – Penrith Ice palace – Saturday 5.45am – 7.30am o Mixed Age – Penrith Ice Palace – Friday 5.45pm – 8pm o Junior – Penrith – Friday 5.45pm – 8pm & Sunday 3.15pm – 6.30pm o Adult – Penrith Ice Palace – Sunday 2.15pm – 4.30pm Please note: • Extra ice time and off ice time will be hired from time to time as needed by the teams, such as school holiday booster sessions, choreography sessions and camps. • Training times can be changed with very little notice due to the ice rink management. • Notification will be via text message as well as the SSS website member portal. b. Team fees Monthly accounts will be issued at the beginning of each month and payment will be required by the end of the month. Due to the hiring of the ice and coaches for team training sessions all accounts must be paid whether in attendance or not. Arrangements may be made with the director due to circumstances of extended illness, significant family vacation or other family circumstances. 4
SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED P/L WEBSITE: www.southernskysynchronized.com.au EMAIL: info@southernskysynchronized.com.au Southern Sky Synchronized Pty Ltd is an Active Kids provider which means you can redeem your Active Kids Vouchers (applied for at Service NSW) on your monthly invoice. c. Team uniform Southern Sky Synchronized uniform must be worn to all training sessions with long hair tied back neatly. Each skater is expected to take pride in all aspects of their training uniform and equipment such as jackets, skates, guards etc. Skaters will be required to have a suitable pair of skates with sufficient strength rating for his or her team level. A pair of supportive joggers for fitness training will also be required. d. Individual skating development Each skater is expected to continue the development of individual skating skills. This may be in a weekly private lesson or a skating school class, depending on the level of team. They should be working towards the next ISA Pattern test qualification, even if the minimum test level for their team placement has been reached. Extra cost beyond the team training fees for private tuition and practice sessions may be incurred to attain further test qualifications or skill development. e. Behaviour requirements Each skater will be expected to display exemplary behaviour in the following areas: • Giving their best effort in their skating skills at all times • Arriving at training sessions on time, in uniform and with a good attitude • Showing respect to their team mates, the coaches and team officials, by displaying control, courtesy and responsible behaviour in all interactions • Encouraging good sportsmanship at competitions by respecting our opponent teams and applauding their performances • Adhering to the team’s Sporting Code of Behaviour as listed at Attachment A f. Membership requirements Development team skaters will be required to have SSS Club membership only as their registration and if they compete later in the year will need to add state membership. 5

Club Memberships a. Southern Sky Synchronized Club Incorporated 1600870 (SSSC) b. NSW affiliated club to NSWISA. SSSC offers a combined membership with Hills District Figure Skating Club which is an affiliated member of NSWISA. If you prefer to hold your affiliate membership with another NSW club (such as CCFSC or PVFSC) then you can select SSSC membership only upon registration. SSSC supports our teams with fundraising opportunities and distributes the benefits or rebates to our skaters. SSSC registration form is at Appendix B (page 12 of this handbook) 2. State Membership NSW Ice Skating Association Incorporated (NSWISA) www.nswisa.com a. Aussie Skate teams – Basic membership category. b. National Level teams – TOI / Synchronized category. 3. Proof of Age Registration All skaters will be required to submit their original birth certificate or passport to the team manager to prove their age. It is a once only registration to the Ice Skating Australia National proof of age registry. 3. ESTIMATE OF TRAINING COSTS FOR 2020 a. Training session costs The cost of each training session will cover both the hire of the ice / ballet studio / hall and the coaching fees for both on-ice and off-ice programs. The cost of each training session is dependant on the rink, time, duration and number of skaters and coaches on the ice. Therefore, we will experience quite a variance in the cost. Training sessions will cost between $25 and $60 plus GST per session depending on those factors. 6

Uniform costs Training Uniform Each team group will set their uniform according to the age and stage of the team members. However, every skater will be required to purchase items of the team training uniform: • SSS Embroidered Black Training Jacket – $85 Inc. GST • Turquoise double strap training top for summer - $30 (C) & $35 (A) Inc. GST • Black cotton tank - $20 (A) Inc GST • Black Leggings for women and girls / Black skating pants for men - Skaters will be required to purchase their own plain black skating leggings or pants. Tights should be long enough to partially cover the skates. Mens skating pants should have a strap that attaches under the skates. • Winter long sleeve tops or thermals should be plain black. Each skater should purchase their own and wear as the weather changes to the cooler season. • SSS National team official practice dress - $85 Inc. GST • SSS National team skating bag – approx $50 Inc GST Performance leotards Performance leotards (for competitions or exhibitions) will be owned and retained by Southern Sky Synchronized P/L. Each skater will be charged a yearly costume hire fee. The hire fees for 2020 will be as follows and charged to accounts in March 2020: • Junior Team - $160 (Short program and Free Skating) • Advanced Novice Team - $80 (Free Skating costume only ) • Mixed Age Team - $80 (Free Skating costume only) • Basic Novice Team - $80 (Free Skating costume only) • Adult Teams - $80 (Free Skating costume only) Other costs will be incurred for National level competitions and charged to monthly accounts, such as: • 2 x pairs of regulation tights (to be kept in the team bag)- Approx. $60 Inc. GST • Competition make up and hair (to be kept in the team bag)- Approx. $20 Inc. GST c. Team fundraising Southern Sky Synchronized PL is committed to work alongside SSSC to seek funding through advertising and build team funds to assist the team members with: technical development camps; guest coaches; uniforms and travel. 7

SSS EVENT DATES & COSTS 2019 ISU JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT CAMP – Junior selection only. May at Vierumaki Sports and Camp Facilities south of Helsinki Finland. International Moderators – Kaisa Arrateig (FIN) & Cathy Dalton (CAN) as well as other local guest coaches / dance teachers / fitness instructors. Cost – Flight to Finland Only – All other costs borne by the ISU. SSS CHOREOGRAPHY WEEKEND – National teams only. Sat 6th June – Mon 8th June Penrith Ice Palace Extra sessions for all National level teams over the course of the June Long W/E . SYDNEY SYNCHRO FESTIVAL – National teams and Aussie Skate. Fri 28th – Sun 30th August at Macquarie Ice Rink Entry Fee – Approx. $90 / Skater (Aussie Skate - $45 / Skater) Room Hire / lunch / bus (The Ranch Hotel) – Approx. $35 / Skater Coaching Fee – Approx. $15 - $20 / Skater (Depending on team level) AUSSIE SKATE PENRITH – For any development teams that are ready. Sat 12th Sep at Penrith Ice Palace Entry Fee – Approx. $25 / Skater NSW STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – National teams only Sat 3rd October – Mon 5th October 2020 at Hunter Ice Skating Rink, Newcastle. Entry Fee – Approx. $100 - $120 / Skater Room Hire / lunch (local club)– Approx. $35 / Skater / Day Coaching Fee – Approx. $15 - $20 / Skater (Depending on team level) More logistics details asap once we hear from NSWISA. SOUTHERN SKY SHOWCASE - All skaters including all development teams. Sun 8th November 2020 at Penrith Ice Palace Annual Fundraising Event AUSTRALIAN FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS – National teams only. Thur 26th – Mon 30th November 2020 at Iceworld Boondall - Brisbane Entry Fee / Flight / accommodation / meals / transfers / coaching - $1,250 / skater approx. 8
SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED P/L WEBSITE: www.southernskysynchronized.com.au EMAIL: info@southernskysynchronized.com.au 5. SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED P/L REGISTRATION PROCEDURE a. Registration Form Southern Sky Synchronized welcomes all skaters to an inclusive atmosphere where every skater will be valued as a team member and expected to contribute to the team performance and friendly atmosphere. Registration should be completed by the end of February 2020 and will be by way of membership in the Southern Sky Synchronized Club Inc. All registration forms with payment should be returned to the team manager or director, by email, post or by hand. The SSSC membership form can be found at Appendix B of this handbook. b. Skaters with private lesson coaches Any skater already attending private lessons will be required to advise their coach prior to registering as a Southern Sky Synchronized team member and confirm that they have done so. The director will, out of courtesy, contact the skater’s private coach to inform them of their team placement and the test and skill requirements of that team division. All skaters continuing to compete in another discipline of figure skating will be acknowledged and accommodated particularly in regards to scheduling during events. c. Skaters changing from another synchronized team Any skater having been a member of another synchronized team program will be required to fill out the ISA ‘Change of Team’ form, following the procedure listed on the ISA website as per ISA rule 1004. www.isa.org.au 6. SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED COMMUNICATION Southern Sky Synchronized welcomes open communication with all skaters, parents and coaches. Messages and information will be posted to the team website where registered skaters will be able to access all team information through a member only portal. All families will receive log in details for the website as registration forms are received. Messages will also be emailed to the contact address provided on the skater’s registration form. Skaters, parents and guardians will be able to communicate with Southern Sky Synchronized coaches, officials or the director by way of text message, email, telephone and website, or in person by way of appointment. Coaches should not be interrupted during the training session, other than in an emergency. 9

SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED TEAM CAPTAINS Team captains are leaders within each team. They are role models for the other skaters to follow, by setting examples of a strong work ethic, respect and dedication. They will assist the coaches within the session, and represent the team when called upon. They will encourage their fellow skaters by seeking bonding opportunities for the team and providing extra help with steps and choreography where needed. Captains will be appointed by the director to the younger and less experienced teams and voted for by the team skaters in the older and more advanced teams as appropriate. 8. SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED TEAM ALTERNATES Alternates may be carried in teams either: 1. To provide extra learning opportunities for skaters transitioning into higher level teams; 2. Or to accommodate injury and illness in competitive teams. For the purposes of item 2 above, the director in consultation with the coaches, will decide alternates based on the following: • The level of the team • The skater’s competence in performing the program • The skater’s record of attendance • The extent of the illness and / or injury 9. SOUTHERN SKY SYNCHRONIZED COMPLAINTS AND DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES a. Complaints procedure Any skater, parent, guardian, coach or team official experiencing problems of any nature should alert the director immediately. It is the desire of the director to have any conflict resolved quickly through open communication and discussion before it develops into a bigger issue causing tension within the teams. b. Disciplinary procedure The director will address any incident of a skater, parent, guardian, coach or team official acting outside of the parameters of the team’s sporting code of behaviour (at attachment A). Discipline ranging from a verbal warning, through to suspension of membership shall be administered as necessary. 10

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every human being. Treat everyone equally regardless of sex, disability, ethnic origin or religion. 2. Treat each skater / team member as an individual. Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each skater. 3. Ensure the time spent with the team is a positive experience. All skaters are deserving of equal attention, development and opportunities. 4. Be fair, considerate and honest with other skaters, coaches and team officials. Be a positive role model for your sport. 5. Be professional and accept responsibility for your actions. Display high standards in your language, manner, punctuality, preparation and presentation. Display control, dignity and professionalism to all involved in the sport 6. Make a commitment to provide a quality service to your skater. Maintain or improve your NCAS accreditation, seek improvement through professional development. Provide a training program that is planned and sequential. 7. Operate within the rules and spirit of ice-skating. The guidelines of the national and international bodies governing the sport should be followed. Keep up to date with rules, relevant policies e.g. anti doping policy, selection criteria etc. Coaches should educate their skaters on drugs in sport issues in consultation with the Australian Drug agency. 8. Any Physical contact with skaters should be appropriate to the situation and/or necessary for the skater’s development. 9. Refrain from any kind of personal abuse towards - skaters, coaches, parents and officials. This includes verbal, physical and emotional abuse. Be alert to any forms of abuse directed towards or from skaters, coaches, parents or officials from within the team or from other sources. Outbursts of anger or bad language will not be tolerated in any situation. Gossip or bad mouthing others in the team will not be tolerated. 10. Refrain from any form of harassment towards skaters – coaches and officials. This includes sexual, racial and disability harassment and racial vilification. 11. Provide a safe environment for training and competition. Ensure facilities and ice surface meet safety standards and that the training environment, equipment and rules are appropriate for the age and ability of the skaters. 12. Show concern and caution toward sick and injured skaters. Encourage skaters to seek medical advice when required and provide a modified training program where appropriate. Allow further participation in training and competition only when appropriate. Maintain the same interest and support toward sick and injured skaters. 11
