Assistant Director Michael – DJ Mike a.k.a. Mike Mike Mike Hello Tucson HOG! I hope January was a wonderful kickoff of 2022 for you, as it was for me. We saw a lot of activity for our chapter, that included the return of the fun "Meet n Eat", our annual Chili Cook-off, several group rides, and the big HOG Winter Roundup in Yuma. You would be proud to know that our Tucson Chapter was well represented in Yuma, despite a lower number of chapters participating than in previous years. However, that did not stop us from having a wonderful time with HOG members from the 17 different chapters that were in attendance. It was announced that the 2023 Winter Roundup will be held in Laughlin, Nevada at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino. I hope you can make plans to be a part of the fun! I would like to invite you to join me on Saturday, February 26th as I lead a ride up to Desert Wind HD in Mesa for their annual "HOGapalooza", sponsored by the East Valley HOG Chapter. For the first time, your Tucson HOG Chapter will be overseeing the bike show. If you would be interested in being a judge, just email me at assistantdirector@tucsonhog.net. Remember, if you would like to submit ideas for rides and other events, you can email me at assistantdirector@tucsonhog.net. Let's Ride! Mike Mike Mike 2
Secretary Renee Many activities are going on around the two dealerships as we start the new year. The last Saturday in January and the first one in February showcases the chili cook offs. Watch the newsletter next month to see who the winners were. I will be putting my chili in the cook off at THD. On Saturday, January 22nd, THD hosted a swap meet with pancake breakfast. The attendance was light, probably due to the dark clouds, light rain and cool temperatures. But those that did show up got treated to some yummy pancakes prepared by volunteers from our HOG chapter. Glad I was there to help out. See you next time. Ride safe! 3
Membership Sandy Hello Tucson HOG! It's February! The month of LOVE, so give your bike some love and ride! I know mine needs a really good bath too! We are getting more and more membership forms in, and the numbers are changing daily! So, make sure your paperwork or someone you know has turned in their paper work. Paper work can be emailed to me at membership@tucsonhog.net. Sandy We only regret the rides we didn’t take] 4
Head Road Captain Joe (2-Pop) Butler Hello, Tucson HOG! I hope everyone has been getting out riding and enjoying the mild weather. Another HOG Winter Roundup is in the books and it was a great weekend! There were 231 HOG members from 15 chapters at the Roundup and Tucson HOG had 20 attendees. We enjoyed some good social time, riding, and a nice trip to Mexico for lunch. Coming up in February, we have a great ride planned for after the general membership meeting on the 12th. I hope everyone can join us for a ride out through 3 Points and Arivaca to Amado for lunch at the Longhorn. We’ll get to check out the 20+ miles of new pavement on Arivaca Road along the way! Also in February is the 4th annual HOG-A-Paloooza at Desert Wind HD in Mesa. We will have two group rides going up this year. One will leave Friday afternoon from THD at 1:00 pm for those who want to spend the night (special rate at the Holiday Inn Mesa). The second will leave Saturday morning at 07:30 from the Speedway on Oracle Rd. if you can only go up for the day. Check the calendar for details. We had several HOGs get their initial Ride 365 mileage turned in after the January meeting. If you haven’t done so, stop by either dealership and get your 2022 starting mileage taken. You can see Ronnie in Service at OPHD or Paul in Sales at THD. Keep the shiny side up, 2-Pop Figure 1 2-Pop in the Dark Cell 5

Editor Lynda Greetings, HOG Friends, Well, I had a great time at Winter Roundup. I’ll let you all in on a few of the … off- schedule happenings! First, we had a few riders who trailered their bikes there. Amongst them our friend Woodie. He has a really nice trailer, but when he got there—Oh, no! The battery was dead! What to do? No worries! Numerous HOGs came to the rescue. So, I guess you shouldn’t keep your FOB next to your bike when trailering on account of the thing thinks it’s being stolen for the whole trip—200+ miles, in this case. Next, 2-Pop and Keith and I rode the back way into the Yuma Proving Grounds Open Air Museum, which has a ton of tanks and huge guns and things. Of course, I had the exhibit covered before 2-Pop got through talking to one of his old HOG friends from Colorado, so I got to walk through it a second time. Figure 2 Jump Starting a Harley Finally, It turns out Keith may have violated some law because I found him incarcerated at the Yuma Territorial Prison. That’s all for now. --Lynda Figure 3 Keith, 2-Pop and Green at YPG Figure 4 Keith in the Klink 7
Photographer T-Bit Wow! What a great time we had at Winter Round up this year. 231 people from 15 chapters were in attendance, unlike last year when only five of us from Tucson showed up winning last year‘s chapter challenge. We collected our prize, consisting of beer and whiskey. Oh my! This year Tucson Hog had 20 members with five first timers in attendance. Can’t wait for Winter Round up next year. The new location will be the Tropicana in Laughlin it will be awesome. Looking forward to HOGAPALOOOZA this month Saturday, February 26. Always a great time with EV Hog. Check out the Tucson Hog calendar for information on upcoming Rides events. Remember! Send your Tucson Hog related photographs to: photographer@tucsonhog.net and check out SmugMug through the link on our chapter website. 8
Historian Tom a.k.a. Detroit Welcome to all 2022 Tucson HOG Chapter 096 members. It's great to be back holding meetings inside once again. Hopefully this last variant of Covid has seen its' better days and is behind us. There is a lot going on this year and everyone needs to get involved and help so all our members can enjoy what we, as a group, have to offer one another. I have brought back the Person of Interest starting in February. I interviewed one of our members and will do that report at the February General Membership meeting on Saturday, February 12th, at 9am. The report will be published in the March edition of the newsletter. I like to try and keep people guessing who I'm talking about and sometimes the newsletter arrives before the general meeting. Besides writing on the history of our chapter and what rides we've gone on as your Historian, I created this Person of Interest so our membership can get a little "history' on its' members themselves. Lots on rides recently to report on. Thank you to the road captains who have provided me the details so I can report them back to you. Don't forget, if you go on a ride (either solo or in a group), and you want it published, just email it to me at historian@tucsonhog.net.
