A former Augustinian cloister becomes a modern-day sanctuary. Developed by Vincent Van Duysen, this hotel features an elegant interior with fantastic dining and hospitality experience. The August hotel features pared-back finishes to give the spotlight to the architecture of the building. Furnished in various raw and warm materials, this hotel blends scandi chic and modern perfectly. The hotel experience has stopped being a single-dimensional place to stay. Still, it is the place that offers tourists the chance to get in touch with the culture of the region they visit, to open up new areas of awareness, to feel, to explore, to relax, and even to reflect on ourselves through new experiences. Casa de Sao Lourenco in Serra da Estrella Sitting proudly in Portugal’s highest mountaintops, this hotel has one of the best panoramic views. Casa De Sao Lourenco is a lodge nestled in the peaks of Portugal’s remote Serra da Estrela range. Burel, a wool style unique to the Serra da Estrela region, is one of the hotel’s central themes. Walls, hand-painted panels, art installations, and intricate ceiling constructions covered by Burel wool. This inn gives the feeling of a Mountain SPA where the simple themes are the fresh air of the altitude and the panorama’s elegance. 6 7 Ta l k C a r p e t . c o m Ta l k C a r p e t . c o m

Westwood uses thin cotton, linen, and sheath fabrics to create her clothing. She also uses recyclable materials that are organically FSC Certified. Vivienne Westwood is known for incorporating modern punk into her luxury fashion brand. Similarly, we translate the bold plaid designs into our custom carpet pattern. The different types of plaids we use in our patchwork carpet make the floor stylish and fun, just like Vivienne’s British punk fashion. Traditional red and green plaid, overlaid with more modern versions, creates a contemporary design for this commercial carpet. We are in love with Westwood’s iconic SS21 collection virtual debut. Posing herself for this new collection, Westwood appears in red plaid and mesh stockings to represent her rebellious creativity. I n t e r i o r s I n t e r i o r s Using Biophilic Hobo Hotel and Ett Hem’s natural elements in Stockholm, Sweden, Interior Design where potted plants filled every inch of space, are surreal. At the same time, Downtown Camper hotel is unforgettable with its moss-covered to Bring the pillars and wood branch chairs. The biophilic design of those spaces makes us feel we were a part of Outside Inside nature and the environment around us. Instead of separating from the design, we are immersed in it. Over the last year, we’ve seen new interior design ideas go outside to accommodate the influx of outdoor dining. Our human love of nature – biophilia – is an innate desire, and that’s where the term biophilic interior design derives. Biophilic design is the interior design trend of bringing the outdoors inside. The outdoors in this context can mean colors, textures, materials, plant life, lighting choices, and more. We’ve had the opportunity to see this trend firsthand at places like Cordoba, Spain, at the Palacio de Viana Courtyards filled with climbing vines, or Mama Shelter Patio in Marseille, France, with their eclectic rooftop. We adore Restaurant Botanica in Madrid, Spain, where plants and herbs are part of the décor and design; and Le Jardin Secret hotel in Brussels, Belgium, where large bay windows bring hidden outdoor gardens inside. 18 19 Ta l k C a r p e t . c o m Ta l k C a r p e t . c o m

P r o j e c t P r o j e c t Christian Lacroix Carpets Bring Fun and Innovative Design to this office We recently had the honor to collaborate with architecture and interior design firm Eastlake Studio. They selected one of our Christian Lacroix carpets for the expansion of design tech company ActiveCampaign’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. The office is a showcase of the power of using color, texture, and layout to create a great space. The company had expanded to three continents and reached maximum capacity in their Chicago offices. Instead of moving, they re-envisioned the area. Eastlake Studio did the original design in 2017, so they knew there was an opportunity to re-imagine the floorplan and gain square footage. The plan was to take the open floor plan and create various gathering areas filled with lush motifs, impactful branding, and memorable spaces. As a significant part of the interior, the flooring had a big job. It had to seemingly separate the open floor plan while adding to each space’s uniqueness without overwhelming but still supplying interest. Eastlake Studio selected our Atelier collection carpets for their variety of textures, designs, and themes inspired by the fashion icon Mr. Christian Lacroix. Selected to complement each room, the collection ranges from the Lacroix Mineral design theme of beach stones and quarry tiles; the Gravure motifs inspired by antique engravings of birds, butterflies, and mountains landscapes in Provence; and the Textile theme with the look of foreign fabrics, patchwork, velvet, and paisley. The specific carpet that is featured in this project is our velours red from the Christian Lacroix collection. 28 29 Ta l k C a r p e t . c o m Ta l k C a r p e t . c o m
