He impressed his employers who said: “Andrew mucked in straight from the off and didn’t shy away from anything. He’s a very fast learner and would be a great addition to the team if the opportunity ever arose. He is very willing and a delight to work with!” 16 I COURSE GUIDE 2021/2022
WORK EXPERIENCE IN ACTION Burooj Salih PC Medical Support Services Following the completion of her first aid training, Public Services student Burooj spent time with PC Medical Support Services, an event medical cover specialist. This was a hands-on experience for Burooj who helped and treated patients with minor injuries. She was also involved in the care of those with major injuries, ensuring their safety while transported to the nearest A&E. Burooj has enjoyed a number of work experience placements including a ‘ride along’ with the Police Service. WORK EXPERIENCE IN ACTION Sorina Neacsu HQ Aviation Level 2 Engineering student Sorina spent her placement at HQ Aviation, a helicopter pilot training, flying club and helicopter maintenance company. Sorina impressed the helicopter specialists who said: “Sorina is a very enthusiastic individual, willing to learn and put herself forward for any jobs she is able to do. She put all her effort into every task and applied the skills she has learnt on her course.” Work experience is a great way in with employers. APPRENTICESHIPS Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes, which combine classes at the College with practical skills learnt in the workplace. Apprenticeships usually take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of apprenticeship, your ability and the industry sector.
