An unprecedented scenario... • The present crisis is the deepest and widest ever; • Early 2020, the Russia X OPEC business conflict unbalanced the market; • The pandemic forced new business environments and procedures; • The O&G demand significantly fell; • Crude oil storage reached maximum levels; • but…
An unprecedented scenario... • but… • Most of the production facilities are still operating; • These facilities require maintenance, up-dating and operational support; • In the medium-term future, new investment will happen; • It is time to think (and act) to reach new markets, with innovation and competitiveness, complying with the new values of the market.
The day-after... • Low environmental footprint and remote workforce will be realities with new levels of requirement and implementation; • Digital Transformation will accelerate in an already initiated process (before the crisis) and reaching a non-returning point. • Are your G&S aligned with this reality? • Is your business model aligned with it, too?
In Brazil, the scenario is also unprecedent. • Petrobras (alone or with major partners) will take care of the offshore high production fields; • Mature fields (offshore and onshore) will be purchased by private (medium and small) companies, with strong focus on operational efficiency and cost effectiveness; • Exchange rates - R$ X US$, • Reservoirs low Recovery Factors, and • Existing flow matrix are attractive.
In Brazil, the close-future scenario will be quite different... • The business model is radically changing from a single point client to horizontal diversification; • Virtual and remote communication with potential clients will require new skills, market knowledge and proper information; • Identify your own competitive differentials and the clients’ values will be decisive to reach the success.
It still the same... • The O&G industry will continue appearing innovative but adopting conservative solutions. • New solutions are difficult to be accepted... • If the target of your company is in the majors, the changes will happen slowly, and you will need: • To reach them with straight, accessible and relevant information; • Understand their values (with an operator view-point).
For small and medium oil companies, what is important? • Cost effectiveness of the G&S; • Straight and agile connection with the suppliers (understand their values and requirements); • Technologies to improve recovering factor; • Technologies to improve well automation; • Technologies to improve automation and operational safety (Industry 4.0).
Don’t forget: • At this moment R$ X US$ exchange rates are favorable to Brazilian suppliers; • New technologies are required for the O&G industry; • The Brazilian scenario is appropriated to the establishment of international partnerships; • Capital and technology contribution; • Access to new markets through local partners; • Safer and easier way to reach the Brazilian market; • Two-way path; • possibility to reach foreign markets with Brazilian developed technologies.
Be prepared... • The opportunities are huge, but you need: • To have a landing and business strategy dedicated to Brazil; • Choose the proper path, more adherend with your international business strategy, as per: • To open an own local brand; • To acquire a local company; • To establish a manufacturing partnership; • To establish an after-sales supporting partnership; • Or to have a local representative (for exporting from abroad); • Understand the values, the contracting strategies and technical requirements of your potential clients.
Be supported... • Choose the path, establish the roots of the strategy and as for institutional support. • APEX-BRASIL (a governmental investment attraction agency) can provide it for your company, free of charge. • ENSOTEC is the technical support contracted by APEX- BRASIL to help foreign companies and local companies to reach properly the Brazilian O&G market. • APEX-BRASIL have an ongoing project to support foreign companies: • to find the proper partner in Brazil or to have the proper information to a foreign company, or • to open its own brand in Brazil.
You must know (if you are a newcomer in the O&G industry)... • For the oil company, the failure cost is the major issue (environmental, human, production loss, etc.). • When the oil that is not produced today, will be produced?.....just in the end of the field production capacity (it could mean more than 20 years later....)!
Thank you! The opportunities are here! Ronaldo M.L. Martins, M.Sc. ENSOTEC Engineering Solutions, Treinamento, Eventos e Consultoria ronaldomartins@ensotec.com.br www.ensotec.com.br
