Spotlight Performance Section B • General Information Location of Upcoming Events All rehearsals/techs as well as the Spotlight Performance will be held in the Main Auditorium. For the Friday rehearsal and Saturday performance, enter/exit through the Main Auditorium entrance only (Door #1 or #2). Tickets & Performance Participation Ticket cost is $6 per person. Tickets will be available for purchase beginning Monday, January 3, 2022, at 5pm. Tickets will be available at the front desk Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. All tickets must be purchased in person at the desk during the designated hours. For ease of administration, there is no Will Call for this show. Seats are not assigned, and social distancing/masks will be at the discretion of the patron. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the Box Office 30 minutes before the performance. Join us for this performance by inviting family members, friends, and even your teachers as there is no limit on ticket purchases per family. Your account must be in good standing to purchase tickets and for your child(ren) to be eligible to participate in the Spotlight Performance. The show order can be found at the end of this packet with details of the classes that will be performing. Page 2 of 7
Parent Volunteers (includes arrival time) We rely on our Performing Arts family’s support to put on a smooth performance and ensure the safety of our students. Volunteer opportunities available include student crew, runners, ushers, tickets, set-up and strike. If you have a ticket, volunteers that will be released in time to see the show include ushers, set-up and strike. Arrival time for volunteers varies depending on each position as noted on the Sign-Up Genius (link listed below). You do not need to register for an account to sign up. Check-In/Backstage/Student/Green Room Policies The student section of the auditorium, backstage, and tickets will be restricted to show personnel only. Check-in will take place at the check-in table backstage (at the bottom of the ramp). The following procedures are being implemented: Students will be seated by class on the right side of the auditorium. Dressing rooms are not being used during this performance. Bring a small backpack/carry bag with the items for the performance including shoes, socks, bottled water, etc... Please be sure the bag and all items have first and last name marked on them. The performance will last approximately 90 minutes. We do encourage each student bring bottled water, but please no food or gum in the auditorium. Check-In will take place at 10am. Please refer to the show schedule on the last page of this packet to confirm which classes are performing. Please give the highest respect to all adults, teachers and volunteers working to make this performance a great experience for everyone. T-shirt Distribution T-shirts will be distributed in the Performing Arts lobby the week of Jan 17th Mon, Tues, or Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. Students in the 11am Starting Up classes will receive their shirts during class time. Your account must be in good standing to receive your t-shirt. Pictures, Flowers, and Concessions New for this year’s Spotlight only, parents will be able to take pictures and videos from their seats (no flash photography). Please remain seated, do not stand in the aisles, and be respectful of those around you so as not to block anyone’s view. Flowers ARE available for purchase. We encourage you to purchase them in advance (order form at the end of this packet) to guarantee availability. As a reminder, balloons are not permitted inside the building. Concessions will not be sold during this show. You may bring your own bottled water in a sealed container. No coffee or other colored, sugary beverages. Page 3 of 7
Section C • Costume, Rehearsal and Performance Information Costumes/Hair/Make-up All students will be provided a shirt (to be worn on Saturday the 22nd). The t-shirts will be distributed the week of Jan 17th (see details on page 3 under T-shirt Distribution). ALL girls are to wear a black leotard under their t-shirt.. Please label ALL items with your students first and last name. Your account must be in good standing to receive/pick-up your T-shirt. Starting Up Students (ages 3 thru 6) – only bring a small bag with shoes, dry snack and a water bottle. As a reminder, tumbling is not performing in this show. o Attire (including shoes): All students will wear the Spotlight t-shirt. Girls – all girls should wear a black or nude leotard with black full-length leggings. Girls in Hip Hop need tennis shoes (any type). Girls in Ballet/Jazz or Ballet/Tap classes bring ballet and jazz shoes (tap will be performed in May). Boys – all boys should wear solid black joggers or sweatpants. Boys in Hip Hop will need tennis shoes. Boys in Ballet/Jazz or Ballet/Tap wear ballet shoes. o Hair (girls only): a bun on the crown of their head. o Make-up (girls only): full stage make-up (any color eye shadow, red/pink lips, pink cheeks) Dance Company Students – only bring a small bag with shoes, dry snack, and a water bottle. o Attire (including shoes): All students will wear the Spotlight t-shirt along with their Company gear as described below. Hip Hop Routines – Black joggers with high tops. Girls wear a black leotard. Jazz Routines – Black ankle length leggings (or black athletic pants) with black jazz shoes and black skirts. Girls wear a black leotard. Contemporary Routines – Girls: Black ankle length leggings (or athletic pants), black skirts, and bare feet. Black leotard. Boys: Black joggers, bare feet. Ballet Small Group – Black ankle leggings, black skirts, and ballet shoes. Girls wear a black leotard. o Hair: Hip Hop students: low ponytail. All other students: low bun. o Make-up (girls only): full stage make-up (blue/brown eye shadow, red lips, pink cheeks, eyeliner and mascara) Staging/Dress Rehearsal Check-In and Info There will be a short staging rehearsal on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 5pm (arrival time is 4:30pm) to 7pm. All students should arrive in black leggings, joggers, or athletic pants along with their Spotlight t-shirt. Girls should wear a black leotard and have their hair done. Make-up should not be worn for rehearsal in order to protect the costume. Performance Check-In and General Info Arrival time is 10am on Saturday, January 22, 2022. End time is approximately 12:30pm. EVERYONE must arrive in costume (t-shirts will be handed out the week of Jan 17th as noted under T-shirt Distribution), with hair and make-up done. Once checked in, students are expected to remain on site in their designated seats through the completion of the show. We are excited to have all dancers participate in the finale number and they will be able to see the performance when seated with their class. Page 4 of 7
