Daily Current Affairs @8AM Live RBI in News ▪ Reserve Bank of India has capped the tenure of MD & CEO of commercial banks to 15 years. The same limit will also be applicable to whole time directors . ▪ िारतीय ररज़वव बैंक ने वाणणज्ययक बैंकों के एमर्डी और सीईओ के कायवकाि को 15 वर्षों के भिए सीभमत कर टदया है । वही सीमा परे समय के ननदे शकों पर िी िाग होगी। ▪ The revised instructions will be applicable to all the Private Sector Banks including Small Finance Banks (SFBs) and wholly owned subsidiaries of Foreign Banks. However, it will not be applicable to foreign banks operating as branches in India. ▪ Also, the MD & CEO or WTD who is also a promoter/ major shareholder, cannot hold these posts for more than 12 years.
Daily Current Affairs @8AM Live RBI in News ▪ RBI has also notified that after the completion of 15 years, the individual will be eligible for re-appointment as MD & CEO or WTD in the same bank, if considered necessary and desirable by the board, after a minimum gap of three years, subject to meeting other conditions. ▪ During this three-year, the individual shall not be appointed or associated with the bank or its group entities in any capacity, either directly or indirectly. ▪ Upper age limit for MD & CEO in private banks has been retained at 70 years. ▪ Banks are permitted to comply with these instructions latest by October 01, 2021.
