GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH CCPA: ABOUT CCPA The authority is being constituted under section 10(1) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The Act replaced The Consumer Protection Act, 1986, seeks to widen its scope in addressing consumer concerns. The new Act recognizes offences such as providing false information regarding the quality or quantity of a good or service, and misleading advertisement. It also specifies action to be taken if goods and services are found “dangerous , hazardous or unsafe”. The CCPA will have the powers to inquire or investigate into matters relating to violations of consumer rights or unfair trade practices suo motu, or on a compliant received, or on a direction from the central government. It is the site of a Pre-Indus Valley Civilisation settlement going back to about 6500 BCE.Later, it was also part of the mature Indus Valley Civilsation. The site is located in the Ghaggar-Hakra river plain, some 27 km from the seasonal Ghaggar Rakhigarhi encompasses a set of seven mounds, and there are many more settlement mounds in the immediate vicinity Not all of them were occupied at the same time.Depending on which mounds to include, the estimates of the size of Rakhigarhi have been given variously as between 80 and 500 hectares. In January 2014, the discovery of additional mounds resulted in it becoming the largest Indus Valley Civilization site, overtaking Mohenjodaro (300 Hectares) by almost 50 hectares, resulting in almost 350 hectares. Surrogacy is considered one of many assisted reproductive technologies. Receiving money for the arrangement is known as commercial surrogacy. ALTRUISTIC SURROGACY: Altruistic surrogacy refers to those surrogacy agreements where the surrogate does not receive monetary compensation.
