Thank you for helping keep
         these buddies together!
Garfield entered the Wisconsin Humane Society's Milwaukee
Campus to surrender his buddy Chaos. This was a very difficult
decision for him and his family to make, but they could no longer
afford the care needed to treat Chaos' skin issues and didn’t want
         Chaos to be uncomfortable.

As the arrivals counselor started his intake, she listened and found out that Garfield and
Chaos reside in the Pets for Life (PFL) program service area. She called the PFL team right
away to see if there was any support we could provide. Pets for Life provides free pet
care resources to underserved communities who struggle to access care for the pets they
love. Our PFL team was able to listen to Garfield's story and identify ways we could
support him in order to keep Chaos. Garfield rescheduled his appointment and took
         Chaos home.

Shortly after, the Pets for Life team was able to visit Garfield and Chaos, along with
our partners at the UW-Madison Shelter Medicine Program, who join us twice a month
to provide free veterinary care. The veterinarians were able to examine Chaos and
identify a few options to alleviate his skin issues. Throughout the visit, Chaos was a
perfect patient, giving kisses and rolling over for belly rubs.

Although skin issues can be a challenge to treat, Garfield is committed to trying everything
possible in order to keep his beloved pet. He has canceled the surrender appointment for
Chaos, and is now armed with some tools to begin treatment, and we will check in to see
what further support may be needed. The pair is thrilled to still be together.

Garfield and Chaos's story is just one of the many examples of families with animals
who look to the Wisconsin Humane Society for support. It is important that we take the
time to listen and really hear what someone is saying in order to identify their needs
so we can truly support them and the animals they love. Thank you for the support that
makes the Pets for Life program possible!

Once at WHS, our medical teams helped clean up each kitten and gave them plenty of nourishing food. Leo was also treated for some
minor abrasions, then they both went into foster homes so they could gain weight and confidence before moving into our adoption
program. By the end of the month, both kittens had come out of their shells and were finally big and strong enough for families of their own.
On November 28 and 29 respectively, Rowena and Leo each set out on their most exciting adventures yet: exploring their very own homes!

We are tremendously grateful to both the Green Bay and Port Washington police departments, as well as the community members, foster
parents, and adopters who ensured these two tiny explorers made it safely on their journey to families who adore them!

Known and loved by locals for its nautical theme and tasty potato Sand Dollars,
Yardarm Bar & Grill invited the Racine community to "Unleash the Potential" at
the Dining for Dogs and Cats event, donating 10 percent of its proceeds to
WHS for our efforts to build a new Racine Campus.

On November 13, community members from Racine and surrounding
neighborhoods came out to enjoy special raffles and giveaways, great
food, and live music by the County Crossings Ensemble. Thanks to Yardarm
Bar & Grill and its patrons, nearly $2,000 was raised in support of the
         new Racine shelter!

“The event was a tremendous success,” said Bill Frank, Racine Capital
Campaign Committee Member. “Not only was it a great fundraiser, but
a great friendraiser as well. Thanks to Yardarm, we were able to meet so
many people and hear fantastic stories about their experiences with WHS
and their excitement for the new building. It’s partnerships like this one that
help build a kind and thriving community.”

Thank you, Yardarm Bar & Grill for investing in our community and helping
