COVID-19 MANDATORY TRAINING 6 Core modules are compulsory for health professionals wanting to supply and/or administer COVID-19 vaccinations Additional modules must also be completed for the specific COVID-19 vaccine that the health professional intends on suppling and/or administering A separate certificate will be issued for each additional module successfully completed
COVID-19 MANDATORY TRAINING New modules and new information within modules may be added frequently, this will be highlighted with 'new'. CONSENT PROCESS Responsibility of gaining patient consent: o RACFs o Queensland Health vaccination hubs o GP Respiratory Clinics o General practice vaccine clinics Impaired decision making – substitute decision makers: o Enduring power of attorney o Guardian o Statutory health attorney – spouse/defacto; unpaid carer; close friend/relative. o Office of the Public Guardian Verbal or written consent is acceptable - document Standardised consent forms are available o Commonwealth DoH o Queensland Health
AEFI ADVERSE EVENTS FOLLOWING IMMUNISATION Definition o “any untoward medical occurrence” o Includes errors in handling, preparation and administration Usual AEFI reporting in Queensland o Completed form is send to QH – entry in state register – forward to TGA. What's different about reporting COVID vaccine adverse events? o Dedicated COVID-19 AEFI form o Encouraged to report any suspected AEFI regardless of severity Vaccine safety data is publicly available AusVaxSafety (NCIRS) website Includes active surveillance from SmartVax and Vaxtracker tools.
