COVID-19 Update
30 August 2021

The Government announced on Monday 30 August that Auckland will remain in
Alert Level 4 until Monday 13 September and Northland until Thursday 2
September, while we continue to see large numbers of community cases daily.
Travel restrictions to and from Auckland/Northland will remain in place.

Just a reminder that at Alert Level 4 all our residents are required to wear a mask
when outside their home, and maintain social distancing from other people, not in
their household bubble.

Staying at home
Under Alert Level 4, everyone must continue to stay at home in their household
bubble. In line with Government guidance, residents may only leave home for
“essential personal movement”:
   • Shopping for groceries (see Grocery Update below).
   • Accessing healthcare.
   • Getting a COVID-19 test or vaccination.
   • Exercising in your local area.
   • Working at an Essential Service business.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure, for our residents and our staff, we are
urging residents to stay inside the village, unless absolutely necessary.

It is important to always protect your bubble. Keep your bubble exclusive and only
include people where it will keep you and them safe and healthy. If anyone within
your bubble feels unwell, they legally must immediately self-isolate from everyone
else within the bubble.

Visitors - Family & Friends
At Alert Level 4 you may only have physical contact with those people in your
household bubble (e.g., the people within your unit). In accordance with
Government directions, you may not invite friends from within the village into your
home while we are in lockdown.

Family and friends from outside the village are not permitted to enter the village.
Every person that comes in risks bringing the virus in with them, which is why we
have tight controls at the entrance to our villages.
We understand that this is still very unsettling and an isolating time for many and
we encourage you to keep in touch with your family and friends by telephone or
other means.

Going outside – within the Village
We ask that you wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing from all
others who do not share your unit. This means keeping a distance of at least 2
metres (or 6 feet 6 inches) e.g., roughly the length of a double bed. As the virus
can spread before symptoms show, it is vital that we stick to these rules.

Going outside the Village
Every time you leave the village and come back, there is a risk that the virus is
brought back with you. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to limit any non-
essential travel outside the village during this time.

If you must leave the village, we suggest that you wear a face covering at all times
and maintain physical distancing. In addition, we note that face coverings are
legally required on public transport and if you are a customer at an Essential
Service business.

We encourage you to use the Government’s contact tracing app, for all places
that you visit. The Government’s contact tracing app can be downloaded below if
you have not already done this.

Village Community and Facilities
Our village’s approach to managing community facilities is to remain in-line with
the rest of New Zealand and follow the rules advised by the Government for the
wider community. All communal and leisure activity areas in the village will
remain closed whilst we are at Alert Level 4. This includes the community centre,
the dine-in areas of the restaurant, the bowling green, petanque & croquet areas.

For the avoidance of doubt, congregations in driveways and other common areas
in the village are not permitted at Level 4.

We appreciate that this will cause concern for some residents, but the importance
of keeping the community safe cannot be stressed highly enough.
Support
While we remain limited in how we interact, with each other, please be assured
that our village staff are here for you, at all times. Our village staff will continue to
regularly make calls to residents to see how you are all doing.

In addition, the Government has a ‘Need to talk’ service available for support with
grief, anxiety, distress, or mental wellbeing. You can call or text 1737. This service
is free, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and gives you the chance to talk
with a trained counsellor.

If you have any questions, concerns, need help, are worried about your neighbours
who might be struggling, or you just want to check in please do not hesitate to
contact Reception or your Village Manager.

Grocery deliveries
In Alert Level 4 and for your safety and that of other residents and staff, we ask
that where possible you stay in the village and continue to order groceries yourself
or arrange for friends and family to do your shopping.

If for any reason you are unable to do this yourself and have limited outside
support, please get in touch with reception at your village so we can assist you.
Essentials like bread and milk are available from each village kitchen, if required.

Please don’t forget to ask your family/friends to clearly label any shopping delivery
orders delivered to the front gate, along with your contact and unit details so Arena
Living staff can bring it to your door.

Student Volunteer Army Service
The student Volunteer Army (SVA) are still providing a grocery service delivery and
will shop for you from the nearest supermarket and deliver to the village entrance,
contact free. Orders can be made via the below link.

Care Givers
Care Givers can continue to enter the village under Alert Level 4. They are required
to register and sign a declaration form at the main gate which includes details of
other villages they have attended in the past 14 days.

If you do have a Care Giver who will be regularly coming to the village during this
time, we ask that you (or a family member) contact the Care Provider and ensure
they are taking the necessary precautionary steps to prevent the spread of COVID-
19.
Reminder: What should I do if I’m unwell?
If you are unwell, please stay inside and self-isolate.

Health facilities, hospitals, primary care clinics, medical laboratories are essential
businesses but if you need to see a doctor or other medical professional, you
MUST phone them first. Most consultations will happen over the phone (or by
videoconference) to stop any risk of the virus spreading by person-to-person
contact.

If a face-to-face meeting is required, your doctor or other medical professional will
organize this with you. If you think you have COVID-19, call Healthline on 0800
358 5453 or your doctor immediately. Please also call the Village Manager.
Please stay inside and self-isolate. If you are severely unwell, for example having
trouble breathing, dial 111 or press the Emergency Call button in your home.

Maintenance update
In line with essential services running in the community, we can assist with
essential maintenance in the village. At this level services will focus on urgent
issues that may cause danger or unreasonable hardship.

If you have any urgent matters, please call reception. Maintenance Staff will then
phone you to assess the task, to determine the necessity and what personal
protective equipment (PPE) may be required.

Below we have provided some helpful links from the Government website,
including latest updates and locations of interest which we still recommend you

We were able to continue the roll out of our second COVID-19 vaccinations to our,
residents and staff at Peninsula Club, Mayfair Village and Parklane Village under
Alert Level 4 protocols.

Please be assured we are doing our very best to keep everyone safe, happy and
entertained across the different alert levels.
We want to thank everyone across our villages so far for your patience and support
as we navigate together these uncertain times. The sacrifices we are all making
are important and every day we are all collectively making a difference in following
the rules, whatever level we find ourselves in.

We will continue to keep in touch with you with regular updates as they come to
hand. Please stay safe, continue to wear you mask and stay in touch with friends
and family.
