Program Description and Learning Objectives
Target Audience
The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of healthcare professionals (physicians,
surgeons, pharmacists, nurses, and others) and researchers working in the field of transplantation.
Educational Objectives
The following overarching objectives and more specific goals have been identified for this meeting. Having
participated in this meeting, attendees will be able to:

   • Review how key stakeholders in transplantation define success.
   • Identify innovations in transplant medicine during and since the pandemic that have worked and use
this knowledge to strategize future interventions.
   • Discuss advances in mitigating infections and antibody mediated Injury – The Yin and the Yang of
       transplant medicine.

Statement of Need/Program Overview
CEoT 2022 will be an exciting exploration of primary stakeholders in organ transplantation coming together
to define ideal metrics to drive equity and quality in transplant access and outcomes and discuss the key
challenges that the transplant field must overcome to develop and implement these quality metrics in clinical
practice.

The stage will be set by looking at current definitions of success from all key stakeholders - federal,
insurers, patients, care providers and understanding the implications of having different stakeholders whose
perspectives on success do not always align. The program will then delve into potential alternatives
definitions of success at the societal and systems levels as well as for patients and caregivers. Tying in the
themes from the ASHI meeting that CEOT 2022 immediately follows, each organ and the infectious disease
group with specialized tracks will delve into the Yin and Yang of infection and rejection on the spectrum of
immunosuppression. The overarching goal is to systematically examine and refine definitions of success for
all stakeholders in transplantation to inform and reframe future conversations in organ transplantation.
