that day, 2,977 people died when al-Qaida terrorists hijacked four planes, crashing two into
the World Trade Center in New York, and one into the Pentagon, before the fourth was
brought down in a field near Shanksville, PA. There will be memorial services today in all
three locations, as well as several virtual remembrance ceremonies.

 NATIONAL 401(K) DAY (The Friday after Labor Day) – Only 70-percent of
Americans are prepared for retirement, and it’s never soon to start. If your company offers a

      were.
 NATIONAL VIDEO GAMES DAY – Video gaming is an 18-billion-dollar-a-year industry!

Grand Slam singles title. This year’s Open has been played in empty stadiums.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13…
 UNCLE SAM DAY – The patriotic poster and character was born on September 13, 1766.
o Did you know: Uncle Sam was based on a New York butcher named Sam Wilson,

 NATIONAL PEANUT DAY – It’s a legume, not a nut! OK, now that we got that out of the
way…we celebrate the peanut, believed to have originated 35-hundred years ago in South

     without their old nickname.
 ANNIVERSARY OF LAW AND ORDER PREMIERE – The TV classic 'Law & Order'
turns 30 today. It debuted on NBC in 1990 as a gritty alternative to the more ‘heroic’ police
dramas. Since its premiere, it’s been spun-off into 7 other series’, including ‘Law & Order:
Special Victims Unit. Producers are working on two new ones: Law & Order: Organized
Crime and Law & Order: Hate Crimes (we’re guessing they’re not comedies).
 NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY (celebrated on the First Sunday after Labor
Day) – Celebrating your parents’ parents, and not just because they still give you money on

TRENDING/ODD:
GUY GETS PERMISSION TO BE BURIED IN ‘JUICY FRUIT’ CASKET (00:25)
Don't know why anyone would want to be buried in a Juicy Fruit-themed casket, but a guy in Virginia
will get his wish. The World War 2 vet wants to go into the 'ever-after' looking like a stick of gum. The
94-year-old is known around Roanoke as the nice old man who passes out Juicy Fruit to everyone
he meets. He finally got permission from the company that makes it to paint the gum's logo on his
coffin, once he's popped his last bubble.

WESTERN WILDFIRES (00:17)
Wildfires in Oregon have forced half a million people to grab what they can and get out of their
homes (that's about 10 percent of the state's entire population). So far, at least 7 people have been
killed in Oregon, Washington and California. Wildfires in 12 states have destroyed about 7-thousand
square miles of land. That's nearly the size of New Jersey.

DC RAIN STORM FLOODS WHITE HOUSE BASEMENT (00:14)
If you've got a basement that floods when it rains, you're in good company. A heavy downpour
flooded the basement of the White House. DC got swampier than ever, with some streets looking
more like rivers, and cars submerged past their doors.

CHURCH LEADER WHO CLAIMED COVID WAS ‘GOD’S REVENGE’ FOR SAME SEX
MARRIAGE GETS COVID (00:17)
Remember the religious leader in Europe who claimed COVID was "God's punishment" for same-
sex marriage? Well, guess what he got?! The leader of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church tested
positive, and is now in the hospital. The church says he's in stable condition, but should be worried.
The holy man is 91.

PRIESTS ANSWER PRAYER - SAVE DROWNING MAN (00:24)
A crazy rescue story out of upstate New York. A kayaker fell into Lake George and lost his paddle.
He was worried he wasn't going to survive, to the point where he was even talking to God. That is
when a group of priests floated by. The fathers were on a tiki bar boat enjoying a retreat when they
caught up with the guy. As one of them put it, they're missionaries, and on that day their mission was
to help someone in need.

OSCAR MAYER WIENERMOBILE AVAILABLE FOR MARRIAGE PROPOSALS
(00:15)
Nothing says "will you marry me?" like the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. The company says give 'em
3-6 months advance notice, and you can have one of their hotdog vehicles as the backdrop of your
proposal. Pretty sure Oscar Mayer is looking for their Instagram moment too.

CRIME
DRONE CAUGHT DELIVERING PRISON CONTRABAND (00:20)
Here's one way to use a drone; to drop goodies to your friend in prison. In Mississippi, corrections
officers caught the drone using a net. It was carrying weed, cigarette lighters and cell phones.
Security cam footage shows two guys launching the drone. They're now under arrest. It's the third
drone caught "trafficking" to a Mississippi prison in recent years.
HEALTH/SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY
STUDY: MOTORCYCLE RALLY BLAMED FOR HOW MANY COVID CASES?! (00:19)
Researchers say that huge motorcycle rally last month was the single-biggest COVID super-
spreader since the start of the pandemic. And a new study from San Diego University says the
Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota was responsible for spreading more than 260-thousand
cases across the U.S., costing the country about 12 billion dollars.

STARS SCANNED FOR TECH (00:15)
Ok, 2020 has been weird…but at least you don't have to worry about aliens showing up. Scientists in
Australia scanned 10 million star systems for any signs of technology (like an engineered radio
signal) and didn't find a thing! It means if there is intelligent life out there, it's way out of reach of us.

FIRST TEST-FLIGTH OF V-SHAPED PLANE (00:28)
They've just test-flown a new V-shaped plane in Germany that could totally change air travel as we
know it. The passengers actually sit inside the wings. It's also where all the fuel and cargo is kept,
and if you're cool with that, you could end up paying a bit less for a ticket, because the plane's
design makes it 20 percent more efficient than anything flying today. Also, the staggered seating in
the wings actually gives you a bit more room, so there's no need to fight over that middle armrest!

FEWER TEENS VAPING BUT STILL BUYING FLAVORED E-CIGS (00:24)
Looks like some teens have lost their taste for e-cigarettes. Vaping is down from 28-percent last year
to 20 percent with high schoolers. And with middle school age kids, it went from 11-percent down to
5-percent. But there is a new trend, and it's disposable e-cigarettes that come in fun flavors. There's
a loophole in the federal ban on flavors. The ban made no mention of disposable products, and
those sales are up a thousand percent.

APPLE CREATES FACE MASK FOR EMPLOYEES (00:12)
The same engineering and design teams behind the iPhone and iPad have created a face mask for
Apple employees. Their mask has three layers to filter particles, and can be washed and reused up
to five times.

YOUR MONEY/SHOPPING
‘PEEPS’ HALLOWEEN AND CHRISTMAS CANDY CANCELLED (00:17)
Finally, something good has come out of the pandemic: they won't be making any of that terrible
'Peeps' candy this Halloween and Christmas. The company will instead focus on making more of
their (disgusting) marshmallow candies for Easter. They've also turfed holiday varieties of 'Mike and
Ikes' and 'Hot Tamales'.

JC PENNEY STORES TO STAY OPEN (00:21)
It looks like JC Penney is gonna be saved from bankruptcy. The company has worked out a deal
with landlords and lenders to stop liquidation. Two mall owner groups are gonna buy nearly all of the
retail chain's stores and debt. JCP has not turned a profit in the last ten years, though losing the
stores would've been tough. The company employs some 70-thousand people.

AMAZON CRITICIZED OVER PANDEMIC PRICING (00:20)
Amazon's been accused of price gouging during the pandemic. The group Public Citizen says the
cost of hand sanitizer, disposable gloves and other essentials went up as much as a thousand
percent. The group says Amazon was not an innocent bystander in how it charged customers.
Amazon insists they have zero tolerance when it comes to inflated pricing.

LIFE/FAMILY
STUDY: IF YOU WANT A FUN JOB, DON’T WORK FOR GUYS WITH THESE NAMES
(00:28)
If you want a job that keeps you on your toes, better not work for any guys named Jim, Bob or Bill.
Researchers at Rice University tracked more than a thousand big companies for 20 years, and
found the ones that had CEOs with conventional names (like Bill or Bob) were more predictable, and
didn't take a lot of risks. If you're looking for excitement, go work for someone named 'Elon'.
Scientists think successful bosses with unusual names view themselves as 'special' and tend to
show off their creativity on a grand scale.

STUDY: AMERICANS WASTED THE WHOLE SUMMER BINGE-WATCHING (00:18)
It's official! We spent more of the summer binge-watching TV than ever before. The average
American watched 20 movies over the summer. And we're blaming it on the pandemic. According to
a new study (by a streaming company), we watched an additional 4 hours of content per day,
compared to what we were watching at the start of the pandemic (well, that explains why you don't
have a tan).

MORE AMERICANS FILE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT (00:17)
The country's job situation isn't getting much better. 885-thousand Americans filed for unemployment
last week. That's finally down under a million, but still WAY higher than economy nerds had
expected. They're hoping the holiday season will help jumpstart more jobs, but those are usually
temporary.

NYC SCHOOLS FILTHY - TEACHERS WALK OUT (00:26)
School buildings may be open in New York City, but teachers are walking out, upset with how filthy
classrooms are. In the country's biggest school district, most students haven't even started yet, and
already there are reports of two teachers with the coronavirus. Contact tracing is being done. Other
teachers say their buildings have roaches, no hand soap, and no protective equipment. In Columbia,
South Carolina, a third grade teacher has died of the virus. She was 28.

COLLEGE KID KNEW HE HAD VIRUS AND THREW A PARTY ANYWAY (00:20)
The freshman fifteen and a case of COVID? Coronavirus numbers are taking off in college towns. At
Miami University in Ohio, more than a thousand students have tested positive, and cops are still
busy busting house parties. At one, officers realized the host was on the "to quarantine" list. He even
admitted he had the virus, but invited friends over anyway.

ENTERTAINMENT
NEXT NBA SEASON WON’T START BEFORE CHRISTMAS (00:18)
It looks like the 20/21 NBA season won't start on December 1st after all. There's talk the NBA has
told team owners not to expect to start before Christmas Day. The league needs more time to figure
out budgets, and give players enough time to recover from 'bubble-life'. The NBA draft will likely be
pushed back to November 18th.

MARTHA STEWART GETS INTO THE CBD BUSINESS (00:19)
Martha Stewart taught us and Snoop Dog how to cook and bake. He may have even taught her how
to "wake and bake." Martha now wants you to relax, with her new CBD gummies. Under her Martha
Stewart brand, she'll have oil drops and soft gels in hip flavors like kumquat and huckleberry. She
says it's all about health, wellness and managing stress.

CORONAVIRUS CHANGES WHEEL OF FORTUNE (00:18)
A pandemic version of Wheel of Fortune starts next week. There will be an expanded platform
around the wheel. It will allow contestants and Pat Sajak to stay six feet apart. They also won't touch
the wheel with their bare hands. They're using a small cloth when they spin. And of course, Vanna
stays over by the letters.

WEEKEND / "ICYMI"
VIDEO GAMES CAN BE GOOD FOR YOUR KIDS (00:27)
Are you worried your kids are spending too much time on video games? A new study out of the UK
suggests that playing video games can actually improve literacy, communication skills, and overall
mental health. More than 75-percent of the kids surveyed said playing makes them better readers
because they like to read about gaming. Sixty-two percent also like to write about it in blogs or fan
fiction. And the researchers say sharing the game experience with other kids supports
communication and social connections, which enhances mental health.

SECOND GRADER SHOWS OFF RUM BOTTLE FOR SHOW-AND-TELL (00:24)
A second grader from Illinois had to present something for show-and-tell to her virtual classroom.
The assignment called for something that "smells good." So she ran to Mommy's liquor cabinet and
proudly showed off a bottle of Malibu Rum. Sure, that coconut scent really does smell good, but
we're pretty sure it was not what the teacher was expecting. Mom posted the story on Facebook and
it went viral. (Might we suggest bacon for the next show-and-tell?)

MAN BREAKS RECORD FOR LONGEST BODY CONTACT WITH ICE (00:21)
Maybe it wasn't cold enough the first time. An Austrian man beat his own record for the longest full
body contact with ice cubes: 2 hours, 30 minutes and 57 seconds. Josef Koeberl placed himself
inside a custom-made glass box filled to his shoulders with the frozen cubes, wearing nothing more
than a pair of swim trunks. He says he plans to do it again next year in Los Angeles.

WINTER QUARANTINE HOMES ARE GOING FAST (00:24)
You're not the only one thinking about spending the winter somewhere hot with a pool. A lot of
Americans are reserving vacation rentals and heading south before a second wave of COVID hits.
Demand is so high, the price of some vacation rentals has gone from 5-thousand-a-month to more
than 20-grand! And they're paying even more for rentals that have pools. Even fancier places, like
Bermuda and Barbados, are already mostly sold out.

PAYPAL SCAM (00:21)
Got PayPal? You could be the target of a scam. Con artists are using your PayPal to send out $100
invoices to something called a 2020 coronavirus tax. The invoice, which says it's from the IRS,
explains that you're being awarded a grant for more than $12,000. But to get it, you have to give
them your checking account information and pay the invoice. Don't fall for it.
