Congratulations on Qualifying for the 2022 KHSRA-KJHSRA State Finals _________________________________ This is your 2022 State Finals Packet. The forms in this packet are all due NO LATER than the Sunday of the Lakin rodeo – May 8th, 2022. The following forms are included: Good Luck Ad Form (optional to do but will place a good luck ad for your contestant in our state finals program) Announce BIO Sheet – Mandatory to fill out and return 2022 Scholastic Eligibility Report – Mandatory to fill out and return State Finals Entry Form –DONE ONLINE – this sheet is for reference only because you will enter online at www.khsra.xyz . Entries will open May 4th and will close at 11:59 on May 11th. You will need to pay online for your entries by either mailing a check or paying via PayPal. State Finals entry fees are due at the close of entries on May 11th. OPTIONAL Jackpot and Sidepot Entry Forms – this is optional. It provides extra payback potential at finals and the results are calculated on your rodeo run. (1st Go and 2nd Go only – not Short Go) Hookup and Stall Reservation Forms (must include payment with these). There will not be enough hookups at finals. The form explains how the draw will take place. Explanation of Awards and Point System for Finals – please read and understand because it explains exactly how our points work at finals. Parent Board Form State Finals Schedule – PLEASE NOTE CHECK IN TIME ON SCHEDULE. You have to be checked in by 3:00 on Wednesday and have to be present (in western attire at the mandatory meeting)
In order for a Kansas High School Rodeo Association member to be eligible to compete at the Kansas High School Rodeo State Finals, the student must be enrolled in the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade the year preceding the State Finals that they are entering. They also must be passing at least 70% of their classes taken. Please complete the following form to show eligibility. OPTIONAL RODEO JACKPOT AND/OR 4D STATE FINALS SIDEPOT ENTRY (barrels & poles) The cost is $100.00 per person per event (team roping – both partners must enter). The entry fee will be split 50.00 for 1st Go and 50.00 for 2nd Go. This jackpot is based on your rodeo run and is NOT a separate run. To enter the jackpot, please put an X next to the event you want to enter (on the official entry form) and include $100.00 per event. ________________________________________ There is ALSO an optional 4D sidepot for barrels, and 3D poles only. You do not have to enter the rodeo sidepot above to be in the 4D or 3D sidepot. This also is based on your rodeo run, but is paid out in a 4D format (half, half, whole split barrels and whole second poles ). To enter the 4D sidepot, please list below your entries for it. Specify barrels and/or poles. The entry fee is $60.00 per event. KHSRA FARM CREDIT ACADEMIC RODEO TEAM (**NOTE – THIS IS A FORM THAT SHOULD BE TURNED IN SEPARATE FROM YOUR STATE FINALS PACKET MATERIAL. This is NOT judged by KHSRA but a separate committee. You need to follow all rules and turn this application in on time. All incomplete or LATE applications will be disqualified from consideration. KHSRA, along with Farm Credit of Kansas, recognizes students who maintain a high GPA at school along with all their other activities, including rodeo. The top five in each class will be given shirts designating them as the 2021 ACADEMIC RODEO TEAM. Awards will be presented at the membership meeting on Wednesday of state finals. The team is also introduced during the grand entry on Thursday evening. YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD. IF YOU ARE NOT IN ATTENDANCE, THE AWARD WILL BE GIVEN TO THE NEXT ELIGIBLE STUDENT. All senior members of the team will receive a scholarship from Farm Credit based on the number of years you have been a member of the Academic Team. You MUST complete the scholarship application provided to you by the Scholarship Committee. Special recognition will be given to seniors who have been on the team for four years. Each contestant will need to complete the form below. An official copy of your transcript that includes the fall semester 2021.. Congratulations! You have qualified to compete in the KHSRA State Finals Rodeo, which will be held in at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, KS. State Finals will consist of two long go-arounds and a final go-around. All contestants will compete in two long go’s. The Finals short go, is for the top 15 contestants who have earned the greatest number of points during the entire year. This will be determined at the end of the 2nd long go. State Finals Average Prize Winners will be the top contestants after two go- arounds of competition at the state finals. State Finals Average points will be determined and awarded after the end of the final round of competition on Saturday evening. Year-End winners will be determined by the points brought into the finals plus all points earned at the Finals, (1st go + 2nd go + 3rd go (short round) + average of the finals.) We will have Go-Around Winners, State Finals Champions, and Year-End Winners. Everyone who participates in state finals this year will receive a finalist coat. The following is the point breakdown for the Finals: Maximum points possible to carry into the finals 160 First Go-Around points given to top 10 in 1st go 10 Second Go-Around points given to top 10 in 2nd go 10 Final Go-Around points given to top 10 in final go (short go) 10 Finals Average points given to top 10 after 3 rounds of competition 15 POINTS AVAILABLE AT STATE FINALS A brief explanation of our point system: Place Each Finals Contestants may carry in points from Go-around Average their best 16 rodeos (max 160 points). 1 10 15 2 9 13.5 A maximum of 45 points can be earned during the three go-arounds 3 8 12 and the average. Each of the three 4 7 10.5 go-arounds is worth 10 points given to 5 6 9 the top 10 individuals and the average 6 5 7.5 is worth 15 points broken down as 7 4 6 shown in the table. The balance of the points will be given to the top eight 8 3 4.5 year-end winners in each event. 9 2 3 10 1 1.5
