                       permits
                       It’s official! Contractor permits are
                       now completely digitized for
                       enhanced safety and convenience.
                       Simply because digitization eliminates
                       manual procedures at security offices
and replaces them with efficient and
                       fast processes using technology.

                       Your appointed contractors can
                       register and apply for community
                       entry permits online at
ecmpermits.ae, where they will find a
useful video guide available in English,
Arabic, Hindi and Bangla. Three types
of permits are available to contractors,
depending on the type and duration
                       of the work:

                       • Short-term permits
                       • Long-term permits
                       • Access permits for home
                         modification works

Note: From 01 July 2021, only
contractors with a digital permit will
be allowed entry into the community.

Plug the leak for a greener bill
As a home occupant, it’s your responsibility to identify and repair any water leaks in your home.

How to check for water leaks:
                               • Monitor your DEWA bill and usage. If your bill is higher than your usage, you can suspect a leak. If
you have a smart meter, DEWA sends a high water usage alert to your registered phone number or
email address, or through DEWA smart application, every 15 days, for up to 3 months.
Water leaks can lead to:

                               • Ensure all taps are tightly closed. Inspect toilets, sinks, flush tanks, water heaters, washing machines
                                 and dishwashers for overflows/leaks.

                               • Check for wall discolouration, as this could indicate water leaking from behind the wall and soaking
                                 through the front.
                                                                                                                                                       Harm to the

Up close & personal
with Zeeshan Afridi
Meet Zeeshan Afridi – the electrical wizard of your
community. We had a chat with Zeeshan, from Pakistan,
who’s been your community’s electrician for two years.

What’s his typical day like?
I am always occupied with work and I like it that way, but prayers are as important to me as my work and
I make sure to pray five times a day. After work, I like to keep in touch with my family over the phone or
chat with my roommates and colleagues.

On his family back home:
We are five in my family – my parents, wife, daughter and myself. We are a close-knit family and I miss
them every day. I’m counting the days when I will see them again.

Any memorable moments on the job?
Events hosted here are quite memorable. But for me it has to be when I’m appreciated by my superiors for
my good work.

What is your ambition or dream?
I’m working towards becoming an electrical engineer and also a team leader to guide my team
towards success.

How has the year been so far?
This year is better than the last and I feel very blessed to be able to work which supports my family back
home. The biggest problem for me was that, due to travel restrictions, I haven’t been able to see my
children for some time.
