City of Aliso Viejo | Fall 2022 City Manager’s Message It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through 2022. As we take a look back on this whirlwind of a year, we can find many moments of joy and gratitude, and continue looking forward for what’s to come. Earlier this year, the City was proud to host several opportunities for residents to donate blood and support the American Red Cross in their effort to reverse the current blood shortage. We are thankful to the 53 participants in our January and April Blood Drives, whose contributions saved up to 174 patients in need so far in 2022. We were also excited that The Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley was the first recipient in Orange County to receive a $40,000 Cox Charities Impact Grant, which will help the Aliso Viejo branch fund STEAM equipment and programming for K-12 students. This grant was made possible by the generosity of Cox Communications, and we are grateful for the donation and the opportunity for the Boys & Girls Clubs to continue creating a safe place in our community for our youth. We also learned earlier this year that Aliso Viejo was named the 4th safest city in California, up from 5th place in prior years. This honor has come to us for another year thanks to the dedication of our public safety partners and community members who have worked together in crime prevention and deterrence within our City. To fill your calendar with opportunities to make lifelong memories, we are excited to share with you the many events that we have in the works for the coming months. Join us in August for our annual Furry Friends Pet Fair or spend a night under the stars with Shakespeare By The Sea’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing” at Soka University. Plus, don’t miss our Health Fair in November for free health screenings, resources, and giveaways for the whole family. We’ll close out the holiday season this year with our popular All is Bright Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting Ceremony and Breakfast with Santa in December, so keep your eye out for more information. In the meantime, I hope your year continues to find many memorable moments, and I look forward to seeing you out and about in our beautiful City! - Dave Doyle, City Manager 2
