Invitation Letter
Al Phurah Temple No. 126 invites and welcomes all Ladies of the Household to
“Southern Days in the Heart of Dixie” the fourth annual Southern Days Event.
We are so excited to host the event this year and hope everyone will come and enjoy
the fun filled weekend.
As you all know, Al Phurah Temple is in Montgomery, AL but due to the cost of
having the convention in Montgomery, it proved more economical to move it to
Phenix City, AL, just 90 miles east of our Capitol. The host hotel, Courtyard by
Marriott, is new and is located on the Chattahoochee River. In fact, there is a
Riverwalk with a foot bridge right outside the rear entrance that connects Georgia
and Alabama.
In your welcome packet, there will be brochures of Historical venues, shopping,
museums and many nearby restaurants. Also included is information of activities for
the men such as the Confederate Naval Museum, golfing and the National Infantry
Museum.
The hotel has a Bistro that is open for breakfast and dinner and there are
numerous restaurants nearby, some within walking distance via the walking bridge.
Bring a candidate. The initiation ceremony will be held at the Wilson Williams
Masonic Lodge, just three blocks from the hotel. The Phenix City Shrine Club
minivan will be available to transport everyone. Also, a light lunch will be available
there at the Lodge.
We hope you enjoy your time with us and if you need any assistance, do not

help in any way.

Satisfy your appetite with American cuisine at The Bistro, a
restaurant which features a bar. Dining is also available at the
coffee shop/café. Cooked-to-order breakfasts are served on
weekdays from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and on weekends from 6:30
AM to 10 AM for a fee. Closed for lunch.
Self-parking is available and free.
Riverwalk bridge to Georgia is located at the rear of the hotel.
Starbucks on premises.
All activities except for Ceremonial and light lunch, Saturday,
will be held at the Courtyard meeting space. Ceremonial and lunch
will be at the William Wilson Masonic Lodge located just 3 blocks

Unit Performance Registration
Units are invited to perform following the Banquet, Saturday, August 24, 2019
Units will be positioned to give the maximum amount of variety as possible.
Rehearsals will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
A grand Finale is planned and will conclude the evening with all unit members participating.
Performances time will be limited to FIVE (5) MINUTES.
Each unit is Responsible for its music, CD’s tapes and or props.
Please mark your CD’s or tapes with your unit name and Temple No.
These CD’s must be turned in at Registration on Thursday.
Each participating Uniformed Unit must complete the Registration Form and return it to the

Hartsfield-Jackson, Atlanta, Ga airport is just 100 miles from Columbus, GA.

See a collection of more than 70,000 artifacts from the
last 240 years of American military history. Explore on
your own or book a guided tour to immerse yourself
in the full museum experience! Be sure to add time
into your schedule to experience the museum’s Giant
Screen Theater and full-service restaurant while
you are here.
The National Infantry Museum is open Tuesday-
Saturday from 9am – 5pm and Sundays from 11am –
5pm. The museum is closed on Mondays.
There is no admission fee, however, please consider
a donation of $5 per person to help maintain this
magnificent tribute to the Infantry Soldier. Separate
charges apply to experience the Giant Screen
Theater, Combat Simulators and Fife and Drum

Golf
Lakewood Golf Course
The City of Phenix City has long nurtured a dream of providing a first-class facility for the
public golfer. The fulfillment of this dream has been realized with the renovation of
Lakewood Golf Course, a John LaFoy-designed, 18-hole golf course on the beautiful rolling
hills of north Phenix City. The staff of Lakewood Golf Course welcomes you and will do their
best to exceed your expectations every day, every play.
Amenities
We offer an 18-hole golf course with tees for all skills, a practice facility with target greens,
and an area for chipping and pitching as well as bunker play. A separate putting course is
also provided for your use. The clubhouse offers a fully stocked golf shop as well as a grill
area for your enjoyment.
Reservations
Tee times may be reserved on Wednesday at 8 a.m. each week for the following weekend.
Tee times are required for weekends and holidays. Call 334-291-4726 to schedule your
tee time and inform us of the number of players in your group.
Chattahoochee River Whitewater
The Chattahoochee River Whitewater park is located below Lake Oliver but before Lake
Eufaula on the Chattahoochee River in the water districts of Columbus, Georgia and
Phenix City, Alabama.
