Welcome to Wainfest 2018 We are delighted to welcome you to the 22nd Wainfest Children’s Wainfest, presented by Donegal County Council’s Culture Division, Arts and Book Festival. The festival takes place this year from the 6th is one of the gems of the Donegal cultural scene. We are delighted to the 14th of October and is full to the brim with colour and fun. to have been awarded funding through the Creative Ireland Wild and Wondrous (or Fiáin agus Iontach) is our theme this year programme, which has helped us enlarge our programme and and we promise to bring you an exceptional eight days of wonderful attract new performers. Wainfest Launch 2018 Venue: Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium Date: September 21st Time: 11.00 Opening by: The Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Seamus O’ Domhnaill. Special guest Malachy Doyle will read from his book Molly and the Stormy Sea, an enchanting fable about faith, sacrifice and hope, featuring wonderful illustrations from Andrew Whitson. Malachy has published books for children of all ages as well as teenagers. He draws on his childhood in Ireland, his children’s childhood in Wales, from his favourite folk tales, but especially from his own thoughts for the inspiration for his stories. His best known picture books include The Dancing Tiger, Big Pig, Hungry! Hungry! Hungry!, and recently published books Cinderfella and Ootch Cootch. The Salty Seadogs will come ashore for the launch and provide some slapstick comedy entertainment.
