Graduating from a licensed school gives you not only the knowledge, but also the proof of knowledge, to
empower you to be a successful professional dog groomer. There are many different clubs, organizations, and
seminars you can attend voluntarily to keep up to date with your career. There is no board of directors for dog
grooming currently. However, some states are already requiring certificates from licensed schools to groom or
own a grooming business. Your certificate will be a proud addition to your resume as you continue to grow in
your profession.
Each course is conducted in such a way that you will have the knowledge
needed to groom dogs for other shops in your area or possibly open your own
business - even internationally. Kathy is the founder of three well-established
grooming schools. She has written several workbooks, professionally produced
Groomadog videos and has written an online course that has modules and
videos that you will be a member of as a student.
Kathy Sanders founded this school as well as other dog grooming schools.
Your enrollment in any of the courses will receive an introduction to grooming,
an offer to get certified in animal CPR, ($80.00) and a path forward with
“Thrudreamin’ Enterprises Inc.)” a groomer’s consultant firm owned by Kathy
Sanders.
If you are already a groomer, we may be able to come to your shop for a
seminar. I feel that you will be in good hands for your new career and that you
will have a positive impact on the industry. You will find grooming a

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS
Admission requirements are:
➢ Hand in Application
➢ Current tetanus shot (advisable)
➢ No mental of physical challenges or addictions that could endanger you
or the animal
➢ No Felony Conviction (see application for details).
➢ If you do not have high school diploma or GED, pre-entry testing is
required. www.casas.org mandated by North Carolina State Board of
Community Colleges Code (SBCCC)
➢ FYI: During the 12 weeks, there could be random drug screening, only if
there is probable cause determined by teacher’s discretion.
Procedures for admission are:
➢ Submit the application and enrollment contract. When accepted submit $500.00 app fee (this also
reserves your table).
➢ Include a readable copy of your driver’s license. Must be able to see picture.
➢ 30 days prior to school starting, pay the remaining balance. This makes the final commitment to take
this position unless other arrangements have been made. If withdrawing, a certified letter must be
sent prior to the 30-day commitment date. (30 days before school start date).
➢ If transferring to a different start date, must be before the 30 days prior to school starting. A second
application fee will be due.

➢
Refund of the tuition shall be made only on the following basis:
A. If the applicant is not accepted by the school a full refund will be made.
B. Student may cancel the enrollment agreement, and receive a full refund, without penalty, within
seventy two (72) hours of enrolling. (until midnight of the third day excluding Saturdays,
Sundays, and legal holidays).
C. After the third day, but before classes begin, the school may retain application fee and $100.
D. Thereafter the institution refund policy shall provide for a pro-rata refund calculation. The
portion of the period of enrollment for which the institution charged that remains shall be
determined as follows: after classes begin, for the first 60 percent of the course, school may
retain $100 plus a pro-rata tuition charge based on the last date attended, rounded downward to
the nearest 10 percent of that period. Thereafter the institution may charge for the entire
course. The Institution will make refunds within 40 days after the effective date of cancellation
or the last date attended.
E. The effective date of termination for refund purposes will be the earliest of the following:
a. The date of the notification to the student if the student is terminated by the institution;
b. The date of receipt of notice from the student;
F. An institution is considered to have made a good faith effort to make a refund if the student's file
contains evidence of the following attempts:
a. Certified mail to the students last known address;
b. Certified mail to the student's permanent address and;
c. Certified mail to the address of the student's parent or listed next of kin if different from
the permanent address.
G. Refund reasons would include a written doctor’s excuse that student cannot continue in this
trade due to non-pre-existing condition. (Before enrollment), close family tragedy, or
dissatisfaction of reasonable cause with proof.
Enrollment into Coastal Groomadog Academy does not guarantee
employment or assistance in job placement.

POLICY FOR PREVIOUS EDUCATION OR TRAINING
Send a copy of your certificate and letter of recommendation from the learning
institute you attended. You may be able to enter for less hours. Evaluation test will
be given.
This does not guarantee that Coastal Groomadog Academy will accept the training.
Credits earned from this school may or may not transfer to other institutions.
ROOM AND BOARD
There are many options for housing. These are only a few. (Not affiliated with Coastal Groomadog
Academy)
• We have a couple individuals that rent their spare bedrooms to students. Most students use
Airbandb.com using the following areas. Calabash NC, Sunset Beach NC, Ocean Isle Beach NC,
Shallotte NC, Little River SC, North Myrtle Beach SC, Carolina Shores NC, all close by.
• The Tide Apartments are within walking distance. Accepts Pets
• Brunswick Plantation, gated community has one-bedroom lock outs in there Condo’s.
• Seamist Campground in Shallotte NC and KOA on Hwy 904 Sunset Beach NC
• One-bedroom condo furnished when available 3 month lease

GRADING SYSTEM
70 – 85 Needs improvement (Not Passing)
85 – 89 Satisfactory
90 – 95 Great
95-100 Super-dog-a-scissor-istic (Very rare)
Program graduation for each student requires 90% attendance (minimum), a grade passing rate of 85%
(minimum) and all tuition and fees paid in full. Progress of student will be provided weekly as well as
reviews for the school. All records will be retained by the school for 10 years. Reports stay on the
students grooming station for personal review.

RULES OF CONDUCT
➢ Never mistreat a dog.
➢ Do not be insubordinate to the instructors.
➢ Do not get caught up in listening to other groomers while you are in school. However,
diversity is good for students, compare techniques don’t assess them.
➢ Tardiness and absence will result in failure. Excess of 10% days missed will be reason for
dismissal. (Four Days). Make up work is accomplished through grades and staying later
STUDENT COMPLAINTS
Any complaint or grievance from the student should be dealt with in an adult way both parties agree
with the solution. If a solution cannot be reached, the matter should be presented to the school in
writing. If the issue cannot be resolved, the student may file a complaint with the NC Community
Colleges, Proprietary Schools.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Each dog groomed is graded with remarks on lab skills. Each two weeks there will be an evaluation of
both student progress and expectations.

CONDITIONS FOR DISMISSAL (Addition to the refund policy)
• Insubordination.
• Not responding to letters or phone calls from the instructor or Academy within 2 days.
• Not completing the course within 12 weeks.
• No partiality will be shown to any one student. All students are treated the same. Any pre-existing
health issues or concerns should be considered by student before enrollment. Student could be
expelled due to safety for the pet and the groomer.
• Venting and mischievous behavior causing disruption in class.
• Not putting forth the effort to pass, wasting student and instructor’s time. We need to see sincerity.
• Being on time and not missing more than four days.
• Coming to school with the suspected aftereffects of alcohol or drugs. (Drug screening at this point)
➢ Failing the random Drug Screening.
o FYI: Random Drug screening, only screened if there is probable cause determined by
teacher’s discretion that disrupts the classroom, tardiness, missing days, not keeping up
with the class or endangering the animal.
Incomplete Grade
The “I” grade (incomplete) must be made up within 30 days of the assignment. The student may
request additional days after original graduation date to complete the assignment at the discretion of
the instructor, as a result of extenuating or mitigating circumstances. There are additional fees incurred.
NOTE: Failure to adhere to the “I” grade policy will result in a failing grade.
RE-ENTRY
If your enrollment has been cancelled by the school, you must send a certified letter of request to re-
enter within 30 days, along with an application fee of $500.00. This allows you to re-enter at the level
you left off. If you are cancelled a second time, there is no re-entry.
If non-payment is the reason for cancellation, you must bring the balance current (including a $500.00
app fee) and make future payments on time.
Depending on the reason for dismissal, Coastal Groomadog Academy reserves the right to not allow a
student to re-enter.

For those of you that want to learn dog grooming in a one-on-one atmosphere, Coastal Groomadog
Academy is the school for you. Our on-campus school takes up to six students per class. You will not
have to compete for the instructor’s attention. We have three instructors. Kathy is the lead instructor in
these classes. We do not put so many dogs through that you feel like you are rushed or are working for
the school. This is an important asset to consider, you need to be in a learning atmosphere.
This is a very comprehensive beginner’s course designed to prepare students to work as professional
groomers. You’re learning abilities will be maximized by the quality of these courses. You also have all
the other students and graduates to chat with.
These courses give you the solid foundation you need to work for any grooming facility or open and
operate your own grooming shop. After all requirements are met you will receive a certificate of
completion in all the courses except the Business Pro Add on package.

Comprehensive All Breed Dog Styling
Have you always wanted to work with dogs? This is the course for the person looking for a career as a
dog stylist. Work for any shop worldwide, open your own business, compete in National competitions,
the sky is the limit. The first six weeks you will learn all practical skills and the last six weeks is spent
critiquing your skills and working on your speed. There is an optional two FREE weeks at the end of the
course as a non-paid apprentice in our professional shop when tables are available. (Instructor present).

Business Pro
A NEW package is being offered at Groomadog Academy. “Comprehensive Grooming Business Pro” is
an add-on to any of the courses offered except the bathers course. This add-on provides instruction on:
• “How to Open a Grooming Business” written by Kathy Sanders
• Customer relations
• Pick-up and delivery
• Shop management
• Advertising
• Design a portfolio
• Running a doggie day care
• Offering a spa atmosphere in your grooming shop. Facials, pawdicures, mud packs….
The package comes complete with the forms, daily work sheets, all the paperwork needed to
successfully run a grooming business from signs in the reception area to releases and budget forms.
This course is offered to highly motivated students who want to expand the services offered to their
clients enabling them to satisfy customer demands.

Groomers Assistant (Bathers) Course:
Students completing this course will receive a certificate of completion showing that you have
completed a 84 hour training series on trimming bangs, rounding feet, sanitary clip, use of clippers,
cutting toe nails, cleaning ears, brushing, bathing, blow drying, groomers vocabulary, blade sizes and
overall dog familiarity. This is a very in-depth course that will get you started in the grooming industry.
This bather’s course is included in all the other styling course at no extra charge. Call to get more

On-Line Dog Grooming Course
Enjoy learning about grooming and grooming dogs while in the comfort of your own home. These

Another option is half and half which is a combination of the Comprehensive and the Extensive Online
Course: Six weeks resident and six weeks online. Still a 12week course with same hours and you get both
for the price of one.
Students wishing to take a quick course yet learn everything they need to know to become a confident
dog stylist. This course is for the motivated fast pace individual with little time. You will learn everything
that the Comprehensive course offers while grooming some dogs from home.

This facility has nine rooms: student grooming room, student class
room with conference table, TV, wireless hook-up, power point
presentations, bathing room spa treatment room, drying room,
reception area, cage room and kitchen. We are a school first,
teaching every aspect of the grooming industry.
Personal Note to the Reader
Kathy Sanders, owner and National Certified Master Groomer, founded her own
academy and has taught hundreds of people how to groom in her state-licensed schools
since 1991. Her techniques are easy to learn and fun.
Groomadog is a product of years of experience and has been designed to assist you in

While in school you could attend any grooming seminars, dog shows, all dog related
events taking place while in school.
Kathy owns a company “Thrudreamin’ Enterprises, Inc.” She helps establish grooming
shops for groomers of all sizes, from the back-yard shop to the largest you can dream up.
She turns grooming shops into schools and travels all over the USA to do so.
She has had several videos produced and been published in the Ark magazine with a
column on pet care. After many appearances on television, her previous school grew to be
one of the largest on the east coast.
Now her time is yours at her newest location where she instructs smaller classes to give
each individual more time.
She is a 1978 Graduate of Gloria’s School of Dog Grooming, founder of four licensed
residence dog grooming schools, licensed by SC Commission on Higher Education since
1990, lectured at National Dog Groomers Association of America and certified with
National Dog Groomers Association of America as a National Certified Master Groomer
1994.
She has written three books and produced five videos. Her library of short videos of dogs
being groomed is growing daily.

WHEREAS, Student has applied for enrollment as a student in School for the course of instruction as
checked below; Therefore, in consideration of the mutual covenants incurred contained, the parties agree as
follows:

School hereby accepts and enrolls Student for the course of basic instruction in:

Dismissal / Termination: School reserves the right to terminate a student for defaulting on payment, grade levels
below 80, malicious behavior, or anything that is not disclosed on the application. Other reasons for termination are
listed in Catalog.
Refund of the tuition shall be made only on the following basis:
A. Student may cancel the enrollment agreement, and receive a full refund, without penalty, within seventy-two
(72) hours (until midnight of the third day excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays) of the signing
of the contract.
B. After the third day, but before classes begin, the school may retain $100.
C. If the applicant is not accepted by the school a full refund will be provided.
Thereafter the institution refund policy shall provide for a pro-rata refund calculation. The portion of the period of
enrollment for which the institution charged that remains shall be determined as follows:
D. After classes begin, for the first 60 percent of the course, school may retain $100 plus a pro-rata

tuition charge based on the last date attended, rounded downward to the nearest 10 percent of that period.
Thereafter the institution may charge for the entire course. The Institution will make refunds within 40 days
after the effective date of cancellation or the last date attended.
E. The effective date of termination for refund purposes will be the earliest of the following:
a. The date of the notification to the student if the student is terminated by the institution.
b. The date of receipt of notice from the student.
F. An institution is considered to have made a good faith effort to make a refund if the student's file contains
evidence of the following attempts:
a. Certified mail to the students last known address.
b. Certified mail to the student's permanent address and.
c. Certified mail to the address of the student's parent or listed next of kin if different from the
permanent address.
G. Refund reasons would include a written doctor’s excuse, close family tragedy, or dissatisfaction of
reasonable cause with anything pertaining to learning to groom.
H. Enrollment in Groomadog Academy does not guarantee jobs or job placement.
I. The student understands that dog grooming is an art and it will take due diligence on behalf of the student to
continue to grow and satisfy the goals in this industry.

The student further agrees as follows:
A. Has received a copy of the school catalog and student contract.
B. Has full knowledge that the school makes no claim or guarantee that credit earned will be transferred to
another school.
C. That the services provided by the school consist of a course of training and education and no employment
is offered or guaranteed to the Student.
D. Agrees not to use school material to operate in any way a similar business. (School, on-line course etc.)
Doing so could bring about a litigation.
E. The school will assume no liability for injury or welfare of the Student or dogs.
F. All pictures, correspondence and videos taken become the property of the school to use in any way to
include advertising.
G. All material in School is copyrighted and cannot be copied.

H. Will not work in this profession within 10 miles of the school, it would be a conflict of interest. The penalty
is the retraction and cancelation of your certificate publicly and possible litigation.
I. No partiality will be shown to any one student. All students are treated the same. Any pre-existing health
issues or concerns should be considered by student before enrollment. Student could be expelled due to
safety for the pet and the groomer.
J. Groomadog Academy, Kathy Sanders is not affiliated with the housing of the students. Kathy Sanders
makes no claims other than the direction and teaching of Dog Grooming. Also, let it be said that there is to
be no legal claims that can be brought against Groomadog Academy or Kathy Sanders on the welfare of
student while in school, transporting, field trips or living with Kathy Sanders.
