AIMS OF THE PROJECT • Urban Planning is recognised as a relevant instrument to address climate change challenges. • However, relatively little is known about the state of planning education and practice for climate related action Research question: how European Planning Schools are addressing climate change and climate action in their urban or spatial planning courses?
METHOD • Desktop-based collection of online data • Higher education programmes delivered by Planning Schools in Europe + Turkey from AESOP "members directory" website Included countries: Albania/Austria/Belgium/Bosnia and Herzegovina/Bulgaria/Croatia/Cyprus/Czech Republic/Denmark/Estonia/Finland/France/Germany/Greece/Hungary/ Ireland/ Italy/Kosovo/Latvia/ Liechtenstein/Malta/Netherlands/Norway/Poland/Portugal/Romania/ Serbia/ Slovakia/Slovenia/ Spain/Sweden/Switzerland/Turkey/United Kingdom
METHOD Survey of keywords regarding ‘climate change’ in their curricula, according to a research protocol: Climate Climate change Climate risk Climate crisis Climate science Climate policy Global warming Resilience Adaptation Mitigation Nature-based solution Green infrastructure Ecosystem service
METHOD Epicolllect5 online survey • You can evaluate as many programmes as you wish (from different schools or countries) • Each programme could be assessed in less than an hour Note: The workload will be better defined after the application process, based on the number of collaborators and their time availability
TIMEFRAME Data collection and analysis to be done in four months, from April to August 2021, according to the following stages: • Recruitment: June • Data collection: July • Data analysis: July/August • Writing up of report: August We aim at collecting all the required data by the end of July 2021, starting as soon as you are available
