General Information SENIOR TRIP: is yea/s Senior Trip will include visits to Disney Theme parks in Orlando and Universal Studios . All Mandeville High, St. Tammany Parish, and theme park rules and regulations are in effect at all times. Any student who is classified as a graduating senior for the spring semester can attend the senior trip. Studentswho have received an out-of-school suspelsion-during the current school year will nol be permittqd to atte.Dd the triB. Students who do not attend daily classes at MHS, such asthose classified as "Hospital / Homebound", are not permitted to participate. Anystu- dent sent home from the Senior Trip will forfeit his/her right to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students are required to complete all seat time obligations prior to the day of departure for the trip. Any student who is un- der a iudicial order of probation is not permitted to participate. Students must be on track to meet the minimum grad- uation requirements in order to depart on Ma rch 27,2019. Any student in da nger of not graduating WILL NOT receive a refund after Janua ry 31st. Sign ups for the Senior Trip begins on September rrth and will end on September zlst. Payment of $25o AND a clearance slip from the bookkeeper is required to sign up. Students may see Mr. Esker during all hree lunches in Guidance. The total cost of the trip will be g7oo. The remaining $45o, will be divided in- o z installments: $225 - November 15th $225- January 31st ll payments Mt ST be made in person to Mr. Esker, in Guidance. All "profit" made by these fundraisers will be directly deducted from the seller's trip cost. lf you withdraw from the trip, and you participated in the fundrais- er, you will forfeit the money raised. DIADLINE EOR DLsTANCE COUBSEs April rSth is the deadline for all online coursework including final exams. Your name may not appear in the Graduation Program if you do not meet this deadline. S-ENIOL DEBTS Debts are to be cleared with the bookkeeper before Senior Trip sign ups and before caps/gowns are issued. This includes library books, homeroom fees, lab fees, fundraising money, uniforms, textbooks, etc. Students must turn in each textbook or pay the full price of the book if lost or damaged. You may see Mr. Brown for prices. The bookkeeper will set up in the foyer of the Auditorium on Cap/Gown day to collect fees owed. Everyone entering the Auditorium to pick up a cap and gown must have a clear- anceslip. All Seniors will pay a 91o activity fee that pays for the Senior functions throughout the year. lf you have not done so, please see Mrs. Dean immediately.
Graduation lnlomation GBADUATION tOMM ENCEMENT S?EECH Any candidate for graduation, who is in good standing with the senior class, active in MHS sports and/or clubs, has attended MH5 for the 4 semesters prior to graduation and has a 3.o or better cPA is eligible o submit a potential commencement address that he or she will deliver at graduation. Deadline for submissions is Febnrary 6 and must be turned in to Mrs. Dean. Addresses will be delivered before a committee of teachers and administrators on IBA d-ur:i.ng Zth+eriod. One address will be selected. Cri- teria and more information can be obtained from Mrs. Dean. CAPSNDCOWNS A cap and gown must be purchased from Graduate Supply. A former graduate's cap and gown CAN- NOT be used. Caps and gowns will be distributed in the Auditorium on Friday, May 3rd from ro:3o a.m. to 12:oo p.m. After that time, caps and gowns will only be issued on Monday, 6th from 12:oo p.m. to 2:3o p.m., in Guidance, from Mr. Esker. lf your child is not participating in graduation, please contact Mr. Esker, to convey that information ASAP. Parents are reminded that should you decide Lopigk up y_o_ur c e a r a n c e 5 p fro m t h e bo okk ee p e r m U st be presented when picking up cap/gown. GRADUATION ATTIRE GIRLS: Cool summer dress or skirt and blouse (no pants or shorts). Shoes are to be black and must have a back or strap. **No tennis shoes, boots or flip-flop type sandals, even if they have a strap at the back, will be allowed. BOYS: Black Dress slacks, VILHlTE collared dress shirt, preferably short sleeves (it's hot); tie; black dress shoes or boots, and black socks (a must). **No jeans, khaki pants, sandals, tennis shoes, or other sport shoes are allowed. Young men should be clean-shaven and hair length in compliance with School Board dress code. AII caps must be placed flat on the graduate's head and remain in place throughout the ceremony. Please take a few minutes to remove any wrinkles from the gown before arriving for the ceremony. We all want to look our very best. lf students are not dressed according to the above dress code, they will be asked to exit the line and see Mr. Bundy. We publish the graduation dress code several times dur- ing the year; therefore, we expect all students to abide by the code,
Graduation Infomation GRADUATION PBACTICE - MAY 6, 2oJ9 Practice will be held on Monday, May 6 (tentatively) at 8:oo a.m. in the Southeastern University Center Seniors must arrange for transportation to practice and to the graduation ceremony. Please report t the seating in the arena promptly by 8:oo a.m. Because of the size of MHS's graduating class, PRACTIC IS MANDATORY, Only those students who practice on Monday will participate in the graduation cer mony. Students not participating in graduation must make an appointment with Mr. Esker to receiv their diplomas after the night of Graduation. Remember that marching in the graduation ceremony is privilege, not a right. GRADUATION NIGHI - MAYZ, zorg All graduating seniors should arrive at SLU by 6:oo p.m. Roll call will be made by senior homeroo teachers in their assigned areas in the corridors. No parents or other guests are allowed in the corrido where we line up. PROCESSION will begin promptly at 73oo p.m. Once the procession begins, there will be no admittanc onto the floor. As our future leaders and role models, all graduates are expected to conduct themselves in an app ate manner. Craduation is the largest attended school function, and your behavior is a reflection o the entire school. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM LAUGHING, TALKING, AND CHEWING GUM. Remember tha all eyes will be on youll PARENT_S AND_-GUESTS should not bring noisemakers or any other distractin items to graduation. Please be respectful to the other graduates and allow their name to also be heard This is a serious ceremony, not a pep rally. Campus security will confiscate noisemakers and possibly a guests to leave. After the recessional from the arena floor, graduates are to return immediately to the corridors and pi up their diplomas. Because keepsake gowns are being used, gowns do not have to be retumed. Y may also keep cap, tassel, stoles, and honor cords. sCH_Or4BSHIPS Seniors who have received a scholarship should bring a copy to Mr. Esker by April 29. PICTURES A professional photographer will be on hand to take pictures of grads receiving their diplomas. Pictu packets will be handed out at cap and gown pick up and will be turned in at graduation Practice. N ONE WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE ARENA FLOOR TO TAKE PICTURES DURING THE CEREMONY. PaTeNtS guests, and friends are to remain seated during the ceremony. Ample opportunity is available before th ceremony to take pictures. PLEASE DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE CEREMONY!! PARENTS... please do no attem pt to enter the chaperoned area where the grads are assembled to march into the arena.
